PoliticsBuhari Getting Nigeria Out Of The Woods, Says MURIC by metronaija2(op): 2:43pm On Feb 12, 2018
The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) on Monday said contrary to assertions in some quarters, President Muhammadu Buhari is definitely getting Nigeria out of the woods as things are getting better in many sectors of the economy as well successes being recorded in the war against corruption.

The Director of MURIC, Prof. Ishaq Akintola, in a statement issued in Lagos, noted that the recent recognition of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) by Interpol as a model in Africa reflected how fiercely the administration was fighting corruption.

According to him, the administration has done a lot to block leakages in the system, and promote transparency in governance.

“Also, Buhari is doing a lot in the area of morality. Corrupt judges are being held accountable for the first time in the nation’s history.

“A Judge was sacked some days ago while another was compulsorily retired. An ex-governor was jailed earlier, “he said.

On the economic front, Akintola said the economic diversification efforts of the administration were yielding results with tremendous growth recorded in agriculture and mining.

He explained that the rise of the nation’s external reserves from 29 billion dollars to 42 billion dollars, one of the indices of measuring nations’ economic development, was also an achievement recorded by the government.

The director added that various infrastructure projects were being executed nationwide by the administration to make life better for Nigerians.

Akintola stressed that the feat was achieved not by accident but through good economic management which also culminated in the rating of Nigeria Stock Exchange, the best globally in 2017.

The MURIC director, therefore, said those accusing the president of incompetence and poor performance, were only being subjective, as the realities on ground proved otherwise.

He said although Buhari was not perfect but all indices showed that the Federal Government was doing its best to make the country better.

“MURIC affirms that Buhari may not be a saint because no human being is perfect, but he is definitely getting Nigeria out of the woods. Things are getting better,” he said.

He urged Nigerians to believe in the Nigerian project and give the president the necessary support to succeed.

CelebritiesYcee Parts Way With Sony Music Africa by metronaija2(op): 6:01pm On Feb 04, 2018
Over a year after signing his distribution deal with Sony Music Africa, Tinny Entertainment has taken the decision to terminate Ycee‘s relationship with the company.

The relationship has been fraught with disagreements and social media outbursts for quite a while now, Ycee infamously accusing Sony’s Michael Ugwu of ripping off artists.

In a statement released on their website, Tinny Entertainment revealed that the deal was terminated in December and they now have sole right to all materials by Ycee.

The statement reads:

We would like to state officially that we terminated our contract with SONY through our lawyers, Olaniwun Ajayi LP, by a letter dated 5 December 2017.

Henceforth, we are the sole owners of the copyright in any and all of our music and can exploit our music on any and every platform.

We have realized that it is best to undertake the distribution of our records by ourselves, as a Record Label and that Made in Nigeria across board, is the only way to be above board.”

As a Label, we are pushing out great music this year starting with “Say Bye Bye,” “I Wish” and our YCEE and Bella Collabo EP, “Late Night Vibrations.”

We thank you for the love!

Signed, Tinny

PoliticsFG Serves Over 246m Meals To Primary School Pupils by metronaija2(op): 10:13am On Feb 03, 2018
Over 246 million (246,355,190) meals has been served to date to primary pupils across 20 states in the country, since the first meal served in December 2016 under the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme (NHGSFP).

Also, the School Feeding Programme now feeds 6,044,625 pupils in 33,981 public primary schools across 20 states.

More states are expected to be added to the programme this year. The NHGSFP plans to implement feeding in a total of 28 States, while it aims to link farmers to school feeding markets.

In the same vein, several milestones were recorded by the Buhari administration’s National Social Investment Programmes (NSIP) in 2017, in line with its inclusive growth plan, which includes tackling poverty and hunger, and creating jobs for Nigerians.

About 40,000 direct jobs have since been created from the School Feeding Programme across the participating states. The 20 states that have so far been covered by the NHGSFP include Anambra, Enugu, Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Ebonyi, Zamfara, Delta, Abia, Benue, Plateau, Bauchi, Taraba, Kaduna, Akwa-Ibom, Cross River, Imo, Jigawa, Niger, and Kano.

Also, in 2017, the school feeding programme collaborated with the Federal Ministry of Health to deliver an integrated deworming programme for pupils in all public primary schools classes 1 to 6 across 17 states nationwide.

Meanwhile, the School Feeding programme now has a social media-based quality assurance tracking system, #TrackWithUs, ensuring that required standards for menu for pupils and meal distribution are adhered to across the states in a transparent manner.

Similarly, the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) has so far recorded over 280,000 beneficiaries in 21 states, while about 300,000 Government Enterprise Empowerment Programme (GEEP) micro-credit, interest-free loans have been disbursed nationwide.

In the same vein, in 2017, the N-power scheme, which is targeted at providing jobs for unemployed young graduates, started its physical verification process for the 2017 applicants. In 2018, more beneficiaries are expected to be added to about 200,000 young graduates currently employed under the scheme.

A total of N900 billion was appropriated for the SIPs in 2016 and 2017; with N500 billion appropriated for 2016 and N400 billion appropriated for 2017.

However, the total amount released was N110 billion for 2016 and 2017, with the total expenditure of N109 billion.

Below is a breakdown of the N109 billion released between October 2016 and November 2017 for the SIPs, namely: GEEP, CCT, NHGSFP, N-power, and general expenditure.

The GEEP expenditure was N11,700,200,466, while the CCT gulped N5,235,401,087.

In the same vein, between October 2016 and November 2017, N22,370,719,017 was expended for the Home-grown School Feeding Programme (HGSFP); while N69,731,256,122 was expended on N-power, which is the Job Creation component of the SIP, during the same period.

NBC does not ban music. Our mandate is on what goes on Radio and TV. Olamide’s Science Student has been declared ‘Unfit for broadcast’.

Politics2019: Gov. Badaru Says No Plan For Presidency by metronaija2(op): 3:48pm On Jan 27, 2018
Gov. Muhammad Badaru of Jigawa says he has no plans to contest for the 2019 presidential election.

Badaru also disowned and disassociated himself from a group supporting him to run for the office of President in the 2019 general elections.

The governor made his position known in a statement issued on Saturday in Dutse by his media aide, Malam Bello Zaki.

“The attention of the Jigawa State Government has been drawn to a mischievous paid newspaper advertisement purported to have been made by a faceless and unknown organisation called `Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar for President Support Group’, which purportedly aimed its support to the recent comments by former President Obasanjo.

“The State Government hereby calls on the general public to dismiss and ignore the false and malicious advertisement and the message and evil innuendo it intends to propagate”.

The governor said that he neither have nor endorsed any organisation or group for the purpose of vying for any national office.

“Governor Badaru Abubakar does not have and does not endorse any organisation for the purpose of achieving or vying for any national office as he grapples with the challenges of governing his state and delivering on the mandate given to him by the Jigawa electorate.

“We understand that there are persons within and outside the state that perceive the cordial and progressive relationship that exists between the Governor and the Presidency as inimical to their personal and political interests and aspirations, especially in the light of several national assignments that the Governor is successfully carrying out at the behest of the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces.

“We are working with the newspaper that carried the obnoxious advertising with a view to identifying the miscreants behind its publication and will use all available legal avenues to ensure that they pay for this dastardly attempt at souring the relationship between the State and the National Government,” it said.

The governor, therefore, urged the general public to ignore this and any future attempt to disparage the office of the governor using cheap and unimaginative media distortion.

The government also advised media organisations to place professionalism above commercial considerations.

It enjoined the media to utilise industry best practice and guidelines in determining the identity of persons and entities before publishing or broadcasting political and potentially controversial contents in the interest of national peace, stability and progress.
