According to the reply from the University, starting a bakery doesn't stop the university from engaging in it primary duty which is academic, but what is worrisome is the level we nigerians celebrate or deliberate on non academic matter at the expense of academic issues. Example is the way people celebrate and sponsor shows like Big brother naija where the winners get huge prizes in millions meanwhile the best student from the University got just 25k. That was the reason such achievement was celebrated by the university and it attracted there anticipated attentions.

How will celebrating this give the best graduating student a brand new car, millions in cash gift & the university ambassador status?

Truth is the Universities themselves don’t celebrate their own. How do they expect companies to treat them the same way BBN is treated in terms of sponsorship? Besides it’s called showbiz for a reason.

If the university really want to be celebrated then it has to come up with an innovative way of making bread without flour & yeast but with same result - fluffy bread.

Some innovations are class projects in universities abroad. Here in Nigeria, a university wants us to applaud conventional bread making(something that is baked everywhere) because going by your example BBN winners get millions & a round of applause.
