President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly ordered the Special Investigation Panel of the Nigerian Police Force to investigate his chief of staff Alhaji Abba Kyari over bribery accusations.

The Vanguard reports that the investigation might not be unconnected to the supposed N500 million bribery money said to have been paid to the Kyari by the officials of South African owned MTN Telecommunications Company with the intent that the chief of staff influence on the incumbent government to discontinue its heavy position on the $5 billion fine.

The source, who asked not to be named, said: “Officials of MTN, have been invited and interviewed within the allegation, have vehemently denied that any such money emanated from the telecommunication company and that since the beginning of the $5billion fine saga, nobody have been approached for bribe.

“Another thing is when such level of money was paid through the banks, discreet investigation of financial dealings on the section of MTN and on the the main COS has to date not revealed any transactions as such.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), leveled a $5 billion fine on MTN for failing to disconnect subscribers with unregistered phone lines bought before January 2012.

Sahara Reporters recently published the report claiming that the officials of the telecommunications company gave a bribe of N500 million to Abba Kyari, to interfere and use his closeness to the Nigerian leader, to force the government to provide MTN a safe landing.

It comes whilst the telecommunications giant didn't fight the huge fine imposition, initially through the courts and later through diplomatic means.

The presidency apparently worried by the accusation is said to possess directed the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris to probe the allegation and come out with findings about the accusation.

A 41-year-old woman, Mrs Chika Orji has been arrested by the authorities after hiring assassins to kill her husband, Daily Post reports. The lady who has confessed to the crime was arrested by detectives attached to Area ‘J'Command, Ajah, Lagos state on Thursday, October 6. She confessed after one of the hired assassins, Bright Ikechukwu, was detained and named her as the individual who contracted him to kill her husband.

Solid indications have emerged that the EFCC has begun investigating some serving ministers in the President Buhari’s cabinet.

Investigations revealed that operatives involved in the discreet probe had gathered some evidence against the affected ministers.

An EFCC top operative top operative confided in our correspondent said investigations on two of Buhari’s ministers had got to an advanced level.

The source said the two ministers were being probed in connection with financial crimes.

It was learnt that one of the ministers is from the South-West while the other is from the South-East.

Operatives of the EFCC’s Economic Governance Unit are probing the minister from the South-East.

The minister from the South West is being handled by EFCC’s Special Operations Unit.

Both ministers are yet to be invited for interrogation.

However, a top operative of the commission told Vanguardnigeria.org that one of the ministers was being investigated on suspicious award of licenses in his ministry.

It was further stated that the commission decided to commence the investigation into the process of award of licenses.

The source noted that hundreds of millions of naira was involved in the ongoing probe.

The source said, “The commission has commenced investigations into alleged corrupt practices by some serving ministers.

“In fact, the cases against the two of them have got to an advanced stage.

“One of them is from the South-West while the other is from the South-East.

“The one from the South-West is under probe for alleged questionable award of licenses to firms which involved billions of naira.

“His counterpart has a different case.

“He is being probed for aiding illegal movement of millions of naira by a major telecommunication firm out of the country.

“The minister is believed to have some shares in the telecommunication firm.

The dust raised by Aisha Buhari, wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, is yet to settle as Nigerians divided over an interview she granted BBC Hausa.

Aisha’s latest support seem to be coming from the ruling APC’s party stalwarts.

Senator Bukola Saraki had chimed in his opinion stating that Aisha just reiterated what many people think.

Another massive support came from the The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress.

The publicity secretary, Mr. Timi Frank, said Aisha Buhari’s comments were a reflection of the feelings among party members.

According to the The APC spokesman, “We think Mrs. Buhari deserves commendation.

“She has actually spoken the minds of not only the party members, but Nigerians.

“What Aisha Buhari has said is not different from what some of us have been saying.



“We have told the President to shake-up his cabinet and bring in people who understand the manifestoes of the party.

“This will help him deliver the party’s change mantra, especially in the area of the economy of the country.

“Some of our leaders like the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, have made this same observation in the past.

“We think they mean well for the administration and the country.

“We will also join them in appealing to the President to do the needful.

“Nigerian women in politics and other wives of President in the world have a lot to learn from what Mrs. Buhari has done.

“We should not forget in a hurry that this is what the former first lady Mrs. Patience Jonathan failed to do to her husband when few people hijacked his government and brought the government down.”

We'd expected that Islamic scholars would answer the unislamic remarks of Aisha Buhari against her husband.

The Islamic scholars who converged in Kano State decried her oublic barrage of her husband as an insult to Islamic teachings.

The Islamic scholars also referred to as on security operatives to immediately arrest her once she steps foot into the country.

Following Aisha's comments, President Buhari had dismissed his wife's claims saying: “I claim superior knowledge over her and the remaining opposition.

“In the end, I have succeeded.

“It's difficult to satisfy the complete Nigerian opposition parties or to be involved in the government.”

Buhari's comments drew mixed reaction from his host, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who briefly stared at him.

At Jamaatul Izalatul Bid'ah Mosque in Kano, Shiek Ismail Illyasu Mangu spoke to a large number of worshipers after the Jumaat prayer.

In line with the Shiek “Aisha should be arrested because her interview is capable of inciting an incredible number of Nigerians against her husband.

“We are sad about the interview granted by the wife of the President.

“We think that opposition members in the united kingdom are employing her from the government.

“Her statement is unfair and capable of inciting violence.

“It's a risk to the peace of the united states and we do hope the security agencies will immediately arrest her.

“We thought that some ungrateful elements in the united states are utilising the wife of the president.

BBC Hausa: It's been One and a half years since President Muhammadu Buhari came into power, a lot of folks are expressing their unhappiness over the way in which few acquaintance of the President have hijacked power while neglecting individuals who work for his success. Like we've promised, here is how the interview with Aisha Buhari and Naziru Maka'ilu from Abuja goes.

BBC Hausa: Individuals have goodwill towards President Muhammadu Buhari, especially looking at the things he did before, but because getting into power things haven't been working the way they should, what can you think is the cause?

Aisha Buhari: I'm not a government official, but in my opinion as a lady, a mother, what I think could it be is well known that the first 4 years aren't going to be easy. Firstly, it was people who brought the government into power. More than half of the individuals aren't appointed to the government. Many people that aren't politicians, not professionals were brought into the government. They don't even understand what we said we wish and what we don't during the campaign. They even turn out and tell people we are not politicians, but they're occupying the offices created for politicians. Some have parted making use of their wives, some lost their children lost, some women too have parted making use of their husbands due to politics, a lot happened through the time. The way things are going I too I am not happy. We are just starting, we have not finished. Some individuals who worked for the federal government have now been appointed. But those heading government agencies you'll find one fighting his state governor, they contested together during election one in APC whilst in PDP.

BBC Hausa: Who're those doing these kinds of things?

Aisha Buhari: Everybody knows them. Those individuals should know that individuals voted singly. Even Buhari too had one vote. Nobody voted 5 times. 15.429 Million People. Any particular one that people are thinking too, he had only some 2 or 3 people. I am pleading to them to have the people at heart and embrace everybody so that we can all move together. Not nevertheless in 2016 or 17, lot of people are creating divisions within the APC, that will be our source of concern. They believe they have worked for the government while those appointed many of them had no voter's card. What I fear is uprising of 15.4 million people.

BBC Hausa: is the President aware some folks are subverting his government?

Aisha Buhari: Whether he knows or he do not, the ones that voted for him knows.

BBC Hausa: But you are the absolute most closest to him, did you tell him?

Aisha Buhari: There is nothing I will tell him, he's seeing things himself. From the people he has appointed, take 50, 45 of them I don't know them. Perhaps he doesn't know them too. I have already been living with him for 27 years.

BBC Hausa: Do you think there are a few people that are dictating to the President things to complete, not him?

Aisha Buhari: That is what I am saying, those who know they do not have voters card, they ought to give opportunity to the ones that have, they're those who struggled and knows what we want to do. Many of them if you visit a meeting with them they will tell you, we're not politicians, if somebody is wise, they'll not accept to take any political office. They didn't even work for it. Even if you are asked to, you must say it's not my profession. Those places not headed by politicians will cause people discontent. BBC Hausa: You might wonder to listen to you say some folks have hijacked the government without him knowing, but who you think are those people?

Aisha Buhari: I don't know them, I don't know them. I don't know them

BBC Hausa: However many folks are calling names, saying 2 or 3 are those, can you that as well?

Aisha Buhari: Yes I agree. Because of those appointed besides Fashola, Ameachi and some people, little, I don't know them, many of us too don't know them, and he too doesn't know them.

After being detained for close to at least one year, there were indications yesterday evening that President Muhammadu Buhari is no further more comfortable with the continued detention of former National Security Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan, Col. Sambo Dasuki, (retd).

A premier aide of Buhari, who dropped the hint in Abuja, said Buhari had already given instructions to the relevant organs handling Dasuki's corruption case to take steps to recoup the huge cash allegedly mismanaged by him and set him free.

Former Independent National Electoral Commission Chairman (INEC), Attahiru Jega has said that Nigeria's politicians become militants.

Jega also condemned the country's politicians for treating politics just like a do-or-die affair.
He made the comments on Saturday, October 8, through the 50th birthday celebration of All Progressives Congress (APC) Legal Adviser, Dr Muiz Banire.

President Muham­madu Buhari said yesterday that Nigeria thwarted the doomsday prophecy over 2015 presidential poll when he and his main rival, Goodluck Jonathan, were more interested in the well-being of Nigeria than to win the election.

“ Our democracy has been strengthened by the end result of the elections as our people are in possession of more faith in the electoral system in the sense that their votes would count whenever choosing political leaders at various levels.

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested one Lami Clement, 22, for allegedly setting a pregnant housewife ablaze.

The suspect, who hails from the Tafawa Balewa Local Government Part of their state, attacked the victim, Amina Ayodele, 23, an indigene of Akinyele LGA in Oyo State, in her house.

She was said to own bought a gallon of petrol, which she poured on Amina and then took a lighter with which she set her ablaze.

The victim reportedly sustained burns on her face, hands and thighs.

The suspect told the police she'd a connection with the husband of the victim, Mustapha Ayodele, for three years, but he jilted her and married Amina.

She said, “I did not actually go there to burn his wife; my intention was to attend his house and burn all his property. I did not know his wife was in the house. He jilted me after long years of relationship and married another woman.”

Amina, who is currently recuperating at the Orthopaedic ward of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, said she was in her house on that day when she heard a knock on the entranceway and she opened it.

She said after the suspect entered the house, she brought out a gallon, poured petrol on her and lighted it.

“Although my husband told me that Lami (Clement) tried to discourage him from marrying me because she'd some affection for him, he did not realize that she could go to the extent of harming me,” she added.

The husband of the victim, Mustapha, denied dating Clement.

He said, “I have never dated Lami (Clement) in my own life. I only counselled her on how best to go about her life affairs. Why would she attack my 3 months old pregnant wife because she admires me?”

The Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Command, Mahmoud Mohammed, said the suspect have been charged to court.

He also played for Galatasaray, Koln, Lens, Metz and Trabzonspor, winning 137 caps for Cameroon after having made his debut at the age of 17, including a gold medal at the 2000 Olympics.

Song is the uncle of former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder Alex Song, and is currently the manager of the Chad national team.

Doctors in the UK may be on the cusp of finding a cure for HIV. A group of five universities has tentatively announced that early tests on the first of 50 patients to undergo a new treatment to try and completely cure the disease have found no virus in the man’s blood, raising hopes that the novel technique may have actually worked. It is important to stress that these are very early days, and only time will tell if it truly has been successful.

The new pioneering treatment . The first is using current anti-retroviral drugs to prevent T-cells – the cells of the immune system that are infected by HIV – from spewing out millions more copies of the virus, and in effect keeping it boxed into the cells. Next, they infect the patients with a virus that boosts the immune system, giving it the enhanced ability to find and destroy the still-infected T-cells.

Finally, they gave the patient a second drug known as vorinostat that activates the dormant T-cells, forcing them to express HIV-associated proteins and flagging them up to the enhanced immune system which can then destroy them. This technique has been called the “kick and kill” strategy.

It is hoped that the new treatment will remove all traces of the virus from the body, including in those cells that contain it and lay dormant, often for years at a time. Because of this, however, it means that doctors will not be certain that this patient has truly been cured for a long time.

“It would be great if a cure has happened,” the 44-year-old patient told the sunday times. “My last blood test was a couple of weeks ago and there is no detectable virus. However, that could be the anti-retroviral therapies, so we have to wait to be sure.”

Only one person is known to have been cured of HIV. In 2007, the American timothy ray brown underwent a full bone marrow transplant in Germany to treat him for leukaemia, using a donor who was immune to HIV. The stem cells transplanted rebuilt his immune system from the ground up, replacing his own cancerous cells with new ones resistant to HIV. Three years after the surgery, and despite no longer taking anti-retroviral drugs, doctors could find no trace of the virus in Brown’s blood, making him functionally cured of both diseases at once.
