Car TalkRe: Here Are 8 Engines You Should Avoid by mh53(m): 2:44pm On Jun 25, 2020

Educative. But, is it both models of the 1MZ FE that have the sludge problem? Does the 2003 es300 have it? Or older models of the engine?
to the best of my knowledge, 1mz Fe in the ES300 is the VVTi equipped variant which is an interference engine. My present daily driver uses that same engine, Just stick to 5w 30 engine oil and change regularly. You will be alright, 20w 50 oil worsens the sludge buildup in these engines and should be avoided at all costs.

A contemporary Benz is NOT a good choice for a first-time buyer, especially since they also have flood to contend with. Don't play yourselves.

For this same forum nai person buy 2013 E350, start to sell am two days later. E get why.

Buy a Japanese car, keep the Benz for your next car if you must.
you typed what i had in mind.

There’s a learning curve associated with car ownership as a first time owner; It’s either u have a lot of technical knowledge on preventive maintenance/repairs or you have plenty of cash to throw at it. I won’t advice a first time car owner in this part of the world to buy a 7yr old german car as a first ride - you will learn to appreciate the term ‘premium tears’. Go Japanese at first then u can go german after about 2yrs. I know someone who got a used German car as a first car and eventually had to abandon it in a repair garage later on after spending a small fortune on repairs.
