@micgray100 used 63bags of feed which amounts to 945kg of feed and got weight of 800kg at point of sales (according to his explanation) that I must confess is a fantastic FCR i.e 1:0.85.

His loses (not lose per say but wasting of profit to be made) started from the cost of seeds to cost of feed and cost of management BUT mainly the cost of feed.

Also FCR of feed does not depend on the feed only but also in other factors like quality of seed, water management amongst others but from his result I want to assume other management factors were good. Also a feed with low FCR will cost less than a feed with less FCR therefore on other to make profit you have to ensure you know the quality of your feed and the cost of getting that feed is worth the feed and not on the high for the quality of feed

the seed i bought were Juveniles not Fingerlings... is my mistake... no fingerlins can weigh 10grams as specified... 10grams are already Juveniles

on the issue of wasting the profit.. it is a known fact that when writing a business plan.. all inputs into a business must be quantified. Quanifying Labour and water for 6 months isnt a bad idea... security is even not part of it... let us be realistic sometime...

To make better profits, its really not about the type of feed used, its more about its conversion to flesh when the fish consume it. We call it the feed conversion rate. Some expensive foreign feeds/ naija local floating we buy have low FCR so buying them is just like money down the drain. The fish will eat it but they will not grow fast. To reduce cost u have to increase FCR. Thats the only way

Is this business still profitable. Cos I tried with a thousand fish and still got loss of 1k with wasted time and energy for 5 months.

Please prove me wrong with the followings..

Got seeds from a fish farm I visited myself to see how they grow and affirm it genuineness..

40 naira per fingerlings weight average weight of 10g each..

3 bags of 2mm coppens feeds for 17k each

60 bags of 3mm and 4mm vital feeds for 7500 each

For 5 months water changing .. 50k
Drugs.. 10k
Labour of boy for 5 months at 8k every month..

From the above

40 x 1000 pieces that is 40k

3 x 17000 that is 51k

60 x 7500 that is 450k

50k water

10k drugs

40k labour

All together

641k expenses..

Average kg after harvest is 800kg multiplied by 800 rate

640k

Diffrence is 1k loss

All I gained is experience... And willing to learn more..

IBBG, LLC can be done from anywhere in the world..
CAC don't have to inspect your business vefor registrying / incorporating your business..
