The scriptures say:

1. 1 Peter 3:18-20:

"For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit. After being made alive, he went and made proclamation to the imprisoned spirits—"

Christ preached to the imprisoned spirits in hell when He died for 3 days. Those who received His message resurrected and went to heaven. The Scriptures say that when Christ died, many dead saints resurrected and were seen on the streets of Jerusalem.

This position is corroborated by the following scriptures:

1 Peter 4:6 (NIV):

"For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might be judged according to human standards in regard to the body, but live according to God in regard to the spirit."

This is one of the great significance of Jesus' death on the cross. If He didn't die, the dead would be left out of God's plan for salvation.

Ephesians 4:8-10 also says:

"This is why it says: 'When he ascended on high, he took many captives and gave gifts to his people.' (What does 'he ascended' mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly regions? He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.)"

These scriptures suggest that Jesus preached to the spirits in prison, who were disobedient during the time of Noah (1 Peter 3:20), and that He proclaimed the gospel to those who were dead.

So are you saying that salvation is still open for people who have died?
What about our forefathers who died after Jesus left the earth? Are some of them also in heaven? When did Christ preach to them?

Obedience is what God said and not even the tithe itself but you are here spewing thrash.

You talked about the principle of money.....are you saying that if all of us in Nigeria pay our tithes, the economy of Nigeria will still be bad?

Contrary to what you said, Solomon gave sacrifices worth over N3 trillion. 2 Chronicles 7:5. He gave 22,000 cows and 120 goats. Please estimate the cost of an average cow and goat in today's price. It was this his sacrifice that provoked God's blessings to enrich him beyond any King.

May I notify you that everyone pays a form of tithe. It only depends on where it's been paid to. Some pay to their mechanics, some to the doctors, some to gaming shops, some to waste, others to their god.

Even Elon Musk, Dangote, Bill Gates etc are spiritual people they may not disclose it to you where they pay their tithes. Even idols are worshipped with thanksgiving offerings and sacrifices.

Be careful where you make your tithes and sacrifices. God appoints specific altars for tithes and sacrifice Deuteronomy 12:13-14. Three things determine the acceptance of your tithes and sacrifices. 1. The quality of your seed. 2. The purity of your soul (motive) for giving. No grudgingly but be a cheerful giver. 3. The soil (altar) where you're sowing your tithe. Shalom

No one said you should not pay. There is no difference between Christians who pay tithe and those who don't pay.

You guys are missing the point about this whole tithing of a thing; and to some extend, I don't blame you guys. Crooked preachers are the ones causing much of this confusion.

From the way I understand it, the old testament commandments on tithing are neither practical nor mandatory for we non-jewish christians. BUT a christian can voluntarily decide to give 10% of his or her income to God as a way of acknowledging God and appreciating him as the one who gave you the money, and also as a way of thanking God for his blessings in every other aspects of your life. I tell you there is undeniable blessing in doing this.

Don't pay tithe to force God to bless you or do anything for you because it doesn't work that way. Tithing should only be one of the ways of showing appreciation to God for all that he has already done for you and for being your ultimate provider.

As for those of you who like to think God does not need our money, don't forget that if you attend a church where God is worshipped in truth and in spirit that money will be put to good use for the furtherance of his kingdom on earth.

So if I don't give 10% of my money, will I experience undeniable blessings?

My advice - if you have a personal relationship with GOD, then you should know the answer on whether to pay tithe or not.
