The presiding officer, Vincent Gwehemba, however, gave the onvict an option to pay N8, 000 fines, and warned him not to lay his finger on his wife again. “If your wife does anything that is provocative and you felt so bad about it, there are many ways you can handle the issue, but not by beating,” he said. Ogbeji, a resident of Expo 1 Hotel, Mararaba, Nasarawa State, had pleaded guilty to a four- count charge of criminal force, intimidation, mischief and defamation of character. He urged the court to temper justice with mercy. The prosecutor, Donald Herman, had told the court that on April 14, he was ordered by the court to bring to station the wife of the convict, Janet Ogbayi of Ado New Karu, Mararaba. Herman said on April 16, at about 9 p.m., the convict who happened to be her husband, came to her rented house at Ado New Karu, Nasarawa State, beat her up and called her prostitute. He said that the convict after beating the complainant, damaged her fridge, television, TV stand, generating set, centre table, stabiliser and standing fan all valued N137,000. In the morning I saw the 2016 #LAMBORGHINI #Huracan and now only a few hours later I am seeing right in front of me the #latest #Ferrari 488 GTB. While we are there reading and quoting the bible, these guys are living the life of the biblical Isaac who sowed in a land of famine and reaped a hundredfold. My question to you all now is; do I join other poor Nigerians and cry and bemoan Nigeria's woes, abuse our leaders, get angry at the presidents frequent trips, cry about the dollar rates or simply stop these guys when next I see them in traffic and ask them HOW DID YOU DO IT Cc @supercarsofnigeria @gidicars"https://www.instagram.com/p/BET_u6TxL4K/?hl=en

The United States of America has decided to return to Nigeria about $480m (N95bn) considered to have been stolen by the late head of state, Gen. Sani Abacha and his family. The Nation reports that the conditions for the return of the money are still being discussed. The Department of Justice in the US launched a Kleptocracy Unit, which will help to track looted funds and money diverted by public officials from Nigeria and other nations. The scheduled repatriation is the result of the recent meeting between the Department of Justice and the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN) and the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Magu. “This is the largest loot ever traced to a former Nigerian public officer in the U.S,” said a source who asked to be anonymous. “The DOJ, the AGF and the EFCC have concluded all the talks; we are in the process of repatriation of the $480million. “Although there are interventions from private lawyers, the DOJ prefers a government-to- government deal. “ I can tell you that the funds will soon be repatriated. If there is anything left, it has to do with the conditions which the US will attach to the utilisation of the funds. “The US is likely to advise on specific areas to spend the funds on and the project monitoring mechanisms. It does not want the cash re-looted.” “The Federal government and the U.S. on January 14, 2003 signed the Treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters between the two nations. So, no corrupt public officers from Nigeria can hide in the US. “At the session with AGF and the EFCC boss, they told the Nigerian team that the DOJ now has Kleptocracy Unit which is closing tabs on Political Office Holders and other public officers in this country and many other nations.” The USA had during the last years launched forfeiture proceedings against the Abachas. The transactions made it realizable for the Abacha family and its companions to confiscate over $550million and £95,910 in 10 accounts and six investment portfolios linked to them in France, Britain, British Virgin Islands and the United States. The Criminal Division of the Office of International Affairs of the US Department of Justice, in a letter to the Federal Government, identified the accounts where Abacha loot was hidden. The department underlined the accounts where Abacha loot was hidden: Doraville Properties Corporation – $287 million in Account Number 80020796 located at Deutsche Bank International Limited in the Bailiwick of Jersey; HSBC Fund Administration (Jersey) – $12 million in account number S-104460 in the Bailiwick of Jersey; and Rayville International, S. A – $1 million in account number 223405880IUSD at Banque SBA in Paris, France. Others are Standard Alliance Financial Services Limited – $144 million in account 223406510PUSD at Banque SBA in Paris; Mecosta Securities – $21.7 million in accounts 10030688 and 100138409 at Standard Bank in the United Kingdom; and HSBC Bank Plc – $1.6 million in account number 38175076. Also listed are Blue Holding (1) Pte Ltd/ Ridley Group Limited – £6,806,900; Blue Holding (2) Pte. Ltd/ Ridley Group Limited – £21,846,983; Blue Holding (1) Pte. Ltd/ Ridley Group Limited –£10,293,343.58; Blue Holding (2) Pte. Ltd/Ridley Group Limited –£56,962,996.26. The Swiss government has in March this year confirmed that it has so far repatriated $723 million (about N142.43 billion) of stolen funds taken from the family of late Abacha to the Nigerian government over the last 10 years. Only the government of the ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo has been able to record the highest amount of US$ 1.25 billion from the Abacha loot. The above regime of General Abdulsalami Abubakar and the succeeding government of the late President Umar Musa Yar’Adua could not do much in this regard, however, the efforts also made. https://d1phczbdxyh8yo.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/13025725/brown-and-co.jpg THE Rivers State Police Command has arrested a woman, Mrs. Abigail Brown, for kidnapping her two children to get ransom from her husband. Brown and her husband’s former driver, identified simply as ThankGod, were said to have kidnapped Abigail’s two children and called the husband to pay a ransom to secure their release. Brown initially denied the allegation against her, but later said the act was not intentional. She told PUNCH Metro that it was frustration that made her to commit the crime, adding that she had no means of survival. She claimed that her husband had abandoned her and the two children to suffer, adding that the kidnap was the only means of making some money from her husband. It was gathered that the suspect had abducted her two children, aged two and 10 respectively, and hid them in her sister’s place. She was said to be awaiting the ransom from the husband before she was apprehended by the police. She said, “I did it because of frustration. My husband abandoned me and my children. “Since he left us and went away, I have been suffering with my children, and I know that he has money. “I only did it to make him bring money for me to take care of the children we had together.” It was learnt that the suspect had demanded N6m as ransom to secure the release of the two children. She said, “I did not demand up to that amount, but I demanded money from my husband.” ThankGod, the former driver to the woman’s husband, who accepted taking part in the act, said his former boss’ wife contacted him. ThankGod said, “She called me to help her. She told me to take the two children to her sister’s place. That is how I got involved. “She used me to act as the kidnapper of the two children before we were arrested. She lured me into it.” Meanwhile, the state police command on Tuesday paraded 146 suspected criminals in the state. The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Ahmad Muhammad, saidthe suspects were arrested in separate raids by the police in different communities of the state. When asked during the live interview if she was a member of the mile high club, a common slang for those who have had sexual intercourse on a flight, she simply replied: 'Am I? Yeah.' But she went on to stress that she'd only ever do the deed on a private jet and not a public flight, and never on a short distance journey. 'But like the private,' she added. 'I don't think like a public plane...It would have to be an international flight. It was an international, night flight when no one's like around.' The wife of rapper Kanye West, then insisted that an aeroplane isn't the craziest place she has ever had sex. https://leadership.24hubs.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/WIZKIDLINDA-300x225.jpg In the past few days, there has been no let-off in the war of words between singer, Wizkid and blogger, Linda Ikeji. Many Nigerians who have followed the attacks by the duo on each other in the social media have expressed utter disappointment at the use of ‘dirty’ words by Wizkid. Question is asked, should celebrities be provoked to the extent of using unclad words on personalities on air or in print? Michael Uzoma Michael writes on the rift. An expose on Linda Ikeji’s blog about the palatial home of the music star in Lekki, Lagos being on rental started off the latest round of war between the now sworn enemies. Wizkid, it was said, had before now claimed ownership of the home. Ikeji’s revelation obviously did not go down well with Wizkid who immediately fired back at the blogger, employing derogatory comments. To say the use of such words as ‘stinking pussy’ is obscene and offensive to many, is to state the obvious. Are these celebrities the kind of role models this country needs? Wizkids response is not justified in any way or manner. Notwithstanding their ages, our celebrities should know that many youths look up to them and there is, therefore, the need for them to be civil in their utterances and actions. Our entertainers should devise better ways of responding to criticisms or negative press other than unnecessary display of tantrums and resort to abuses and use of inelegant words which diminish them before right thinking and decent members of the public. Quite frankly, it needs be stated that many stories around these entertainers are negative as they often times bother on scandals. Our musicians, in particular, will do their image good by employing professionals as public relations officers or consultants. A well-managed artiste obviously would have reacted to Ikeji’s expose in a more civilized manner or even in a light-hearted form and I bet the matter would have not escalated to the point of being a general knowledge. Even at the risk of being accused of taking side, I dare say Wizkid is actually hurting himself with his unguarded and vitriolic rants. The musician’s allegation that his director not only slept with Ikeji but had to abandon her in hotel because her ‘private’ stinks caused a big lashback. Though the blogger denied this allegation, many people have been hazarding a guess as to which of Wizkid’s directors could be behind the snitching of Linda? Let’s look at the directors that have worked with the Ojuelegba crooner: 1. Del B 2. Maleek Berry 3. Moe Musa 4. Sesan 5. Shizzi Now, express yourself and add to this topic! by commenting below... It wasn’t long before fans were placing the blame squarely on Lola Omotayo, Peter’s wife. This would not be the first time the brothers will be engaged in a spat (rumoured or public). The first time was when Peter was noticeably absent at Jude’s wedding in 2014. Lola was fingered as a culprit then in the brothers’ seeming bad blood. To the point that Jude had to issue a statement on social media, claiming all was good between him and his brother’s wife. The last time he spoke with Saratu was on April 14,2014, when she rang to say men from the Islamist group Boko Haram had loaded her and her classmates from the Government Girls' Secondary School in Chibok in northeast Nigeria onto trucks. Attempts to reach her again failed and two years on, 219 girls abducted that night remain missing, despite a global campaign #bringbackourgirls involving celebrities and U.S. first lady Michelle Obama calling for them to be found. The students are among an estimated 2,000 girls and boys abducted by the Boko Haram since the start of 2014, with many of those abducted used as sex slaves, fighters and even suicide bombers, according to an Amnesty International report. https://tori.ng/userfiles/image/2016/apr/10/Muhammadu-Buhari.jpg There are indications that the Central Bank of Nigeria is awaiting directive from the Attorney General for the Federation, before publishing the names of those that have looted the treasury. A top official of the bank on Saturday confided in a Punch correspondent that the publication of the names of treasury looters was one matter that apex bank was approaching with caution owing to the litigation process involved. The source said since the issue involved had litigation implications, there was no way the apex bank would publish the list of treasury looters without first securing a clearance from the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation. When asked if the CBN had formally written to the AGF for clearance, the official said “that is being handled at the highest level.” He said, “A lot of things are being said about the publication of the list of treasury looters but one thing people fail to recognise is that this issue has a lot of legal implication. “As an agency of government, there are actions that we can’t just take on our own particularly when it has to do with court cases. “Take for instance the issue of publishing the names of treasury looters, there is no way we can do that without first getting clearance from the Attorney General. “If the Attorney General says the bank should go ahead with the publication, then we know that we have a legal seal that covers our action.” When contacted on why the bank had yet to publish the list of treasury looters, the Acting Director, Corporate Communications, CBN, Mr Isaac Okoroafor, told our correspondent that he had no information on it. “What you are asking me now is a high level issue that I don’t have any information on for now,” he said and declined to comment further. When contacted on Saturday, Special Adviser to the Attorney-General of Federation on Media and Publicity, Mr. Salihu Isah, said he did not have information on the issue. Isah said he had to contact the minister, Mr. Abubakar Malami, first and revert to our correspondent with the details. An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ogba on Friday adjourned the trial of a suspected fraudster when the accused was found to be in possession of objects suspected to be charms. Chief Magistrate Omolade Awope had observed that the accused was feeling uncomfortable and jittery in the dock and ordered that a thorough body search be conducted on him. Following the search, assorted objects suspected to be charms were found hidden under the dress of the 41-year-old accused, Ibrahim Umaru. As a result of the shocking discovery, the chief magistrate deferred the trial of the suspected fraudster to June 10. Umaru, who resides at Amodu Faronbi Street, Isolo, Lagos is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and obtaining under false pretences. Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Ezekiel Ayorinde, had told the court that Umaru and his accomplice, Sunday Godwin, on Sept. 25, 2011 hypnotised one Okunola Salau and duped him of cash and jewellery worth N5 million. “The duo also took him home, performed magical acts on him and threatened him not to tell anybody otherwise he will die. “Afterwards they kept on pestering him on phone to give them money and jewellery. “Salau later gave them gold jewellery worth N4 million before he later regained consciousness,” the prosecutor said. The accused had pleaded not guilty to the charge and had been granted bail in the sum of N1million and two sureties. The accused had earlier been arraigned at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court before his case was transferred to the Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ogba.
