"That happens even with big-time currencies like the yen and the dollar."

Many of those major nation-state currencies haven't experienced anything close to what's happened with cryptos.

Facebook news: MP Damian Collins says it is "disappointing" that Facebook "chooses not to provide a sufficient level of detail and transparency."

MPs have again criticised Facebook for submitting "insufficient" evidence to a parliamentary inquiry about how it handles data.

Damian Collins, chair of the digital, culture, media and sports committee, published Facebook's evidence sent in response to a previous letter which put 39 outstanding questions to the social media firm.

His committee criticised the company, saying its answers did not fully address each point about how it handles UK citizens' data with sufficient detail.

Their criticism follows an announcement by regulators that they are going to pursue their investigation into scandal-hit Cambridge Analytica despite the firm announcing its collapse.

Facebook has said that up to 87 million people may have had data harvested by a personality test app which was then acquired by the company.

More than a million of these were in the UK. Its chief technology officer Mike Schroepfer was questioned by MPs as chief executive Mark Zuckerberg chose not to appear before Parliament.

The MPs plan to write to Facebook again to address gaps in its answers about how UK citizens may have been affected.

Facebook deletes 583m fake accounts: In the latest news, a report has it that Facebook releases the figure as it says millions of pieces of violent content were also blocked.

In the reports, Facebook revealed hundreds of millions of accounts were fake as it published content removal numbers for the first time.

The company removed 583 million fake accounts, although these were not all active at the same time.

The figure comes alongside newly published data on Facebook's content removals - which the company has released for the first time - revealing the amount of abuse which occurs on its site.

The figures show how much graphic violence, adult nudity and sexual activity, terrorist propaganda, hate speech, spam, and fake accounts that are uploaded to its platform.

The company stated that between October 2017 and March 2018 it took down or put warning labels on:

- 583 million fake accounts
- 21 million pieces of adult nudity and sexual activity

How to delete your Instagram data:
If you don't want Instagram to have this data, you can delete it all. (Instagram confirms in its FAQ that it's actually deleted.) Doing so requires you to delete your entire account permanently, however. If you don't want to do that, you can temporarily disable your account, too.

Facebook's innovation in the dating app space — connecting users based on events — is largely new.

Facebook's dating feature — in many ways separate from the core app — will tie in Events from the larger platform, allowing users to "unlock" an event and indicate to other singles on the app that they're interested in attending.

"It mirrors the way people actually date, which is usually at events and institutions that they're connected to," chief product officer Chris Cox said during the announcement.

The app could show you, say, a Friday night beer tasting at the brewery you've been meaning to try — and then present a list of possible matches who said they would also want to go. From there you can start a private chat, make a plan and meet up.

Shares of Match and its parent company IAC both tanked following the news of Facebook's entrance into the space Tuesday.

A Bumble spokesperson declined to comment on the specifics of Facebook's iteration but said the company was "thrilled" to see the news and has reached out to Facebook around a potential collaboration.

"Perhaps Bumble and Facebook can join forces to make the connecting space even safer and empowering," the spokesperson said in a statement.

"Facebook could have used swiping in its attempt to enter the dating space, but instead they clearly drew inspiration from Hinge. It validates our anti-swipe, pro-dating movement," Hinge said in a statement.
