Have you ever been pushed by your parents to go into profession, vocation or pursue a degree you don't like? What was the experience like? My brother shared his with me here. The mother had to started asking people about his son's CV to help see if what he got out of the Uni wasn't good enough to get Job. She rant and kept disturbing the young ambitious boy whose eyes is on running his own venture starting from by running around to eke it out on street. One day, the mother took his papers to someone that is well lettered to help interprete. Mama: Pls my brother, is this a good result? Lol. Mummy, 2:1 ni yi o. 2:1 in Economics from OAU! Result gidi lo niyi now. (This is 2:1, it's a good result) Mama: Then why is he not looking for Job? Rather than saying he is an entrepreneur all about doing business. I used to think he had poor grade ni oo. But I want him to work now, to start going to office too. I will keep distributing this CV to church members. He must find a Job. I don't like business. I will continue to put him prayer.. Lol. And the Egbon had to find Job tipatipa oo (forcefully). To show mama say e fit get job. He worked for few years in an oil company and ran out to start selling gas on the street. Then one day, he told the mother - "Mama, I'm back to entrepreneurship now oo, at least I don satisfy you now. Doing my own business is my calling se. E fimile oo. (Free me pls) Lol Lesson: No matter what, some people will satisfy their wish and dream in life, it might only take years. It points to that native African proverb that says "You can only forcefully drag a horse to the river, you can't force its way into it drinking it". Lol The biggest tale I have ever read about this is a guy that was forced to study medicine. After induction and NYSC, he went to his parents and said, "Dad and mum - I'm now a doctor to make you happy. Can I go back to what I love and will always find happiness doing?" The parents were speechless. Lol Lol. That's one of the tales in narration that I heard in a 2hrs meet up with an a senior friend,on his journey to entrepreneurship and after school drama with his mother. Has your parent (s) ever forced you to go into a career or profession you don't like to satisfy their wish? Share your experience and how did you win or how are you coping? I will love to read. If you want to share privately too. I can private chat you. I will love to document it for others to learn too. ©OmoElu |
