BusinessThrowback: 5 Ways We Used To Make Money As Ajepako Kids In Nigeria. by micronut(op): 3:52pm On Jul 16, 2020
OK. It's a beautiful Thursday. Let's share some old memories. This is from personal experience. Lol

1. Once it had just rained finish like this, and we head straight for new sites and branch at every ongoing house projects with foundation made of cement blocks. Then we use Cutlass to clear bush around foundation paths, and also use eyes to check the holes. It works well, if you go along with torchlight, if it is already getting dark. You know what we will be looking for?

SNAILS.. Lol.

If you check 5 block foundations or walls (ese igana or ogiri), chances are high that you will see 3 to 5 big snails.

And we sell to Alarobo or food canteens..

Isn't that Money?

Yes, Money from Nature. Lol.

2. Once you sight the woman shouting "aun ra ajaku bata roba, a un rabo ayo tin jo... E fi gbake oo". (We buy old sandals oo, we buy old leaking aluminium containers, sell and collect new plastics).

And we will go inside and comb everywhere in the house to look for that torn rubber sandal we got tired of, those bottles hiding inside store and those useless complete buba and soro clothes they bought for us years ago that we no longer wear, inside patimoto that cockroaches are already infesting. By the time you will come out, you would have already gotten enough money to buy a Congo of rice and orisirisi inside. Or save in your kóló to buy regerege or banger. Lol

Don't blame us, we were agents of recycling, redistribution & waste management. Lol

3. We will volunteer to help mould brick blocks and clear bush at a cost, even though if it will take days to complete it and you can break down buying paracetamol from being worn out. Lol... The strong boys do this consistently to buy new clothes for themselves especially when festivities are around. The more stronger ones buy bicycles and some that like book use it to buys books, especially those from highly impoverished homes.

May this is why the popular childhood lines we used to sing say that "bi a ko ba reni feyin ti, bi ole laari, bi a ko ba reni gbekele, a tera mose eni".

[No translation] Lol

4. We raised animals behind house cages. There is a culture of giving a going goat or fowl to a child at birth, named after you and someone can even give you as a gift, from neighbor and families. Many small kids look after these animals from infancy to when they are big to sell or chop.

We cry profusely if nature takes life off those creatures and care alot for them, by preventing them from being hurt with the support of parents. Adiye mi,(my hen) ewure mi (my goat), ehoro mi (my rabbit), aja mi (my dog) etc.. Those were noise we chant around house to remind others that this one is personal oo. Lol

And when they grow old to sell, you can proudly be rewarded even though we are cheated most times.

Imagine if the whole house wake up one day, and say it's one of your beloved local hens that is going down in the soup without compensation. Lol. You will know this life is not fair.

5. This one is common - Visitors & families Gift! Lol.

Usually we don't make much from here as Ajepakos except during Christmas and Ileya, as many of our parent's friends are like us. They come and go with excuse. "Ma binu lati, ma ba e mu nkan no next time. Owo po lowo mi" (Sorry aburo, I will bring you something next time OK, I don't have cash now). . Lol. Or they buy you guguru and epa (popcorn & groundnut). Safe for when you have few rich families. Lol

These are few beautiful childhood experience we had while growing up.

It seems everything had changed much now.

Well, It's been long I do throwbacks Thursday.

Savour the old days..

Well we thank God for everything.

Lol

Business5 COVID-19 Business Lessons For All Struggling Nigerians by micronut(op): 1:07pm On Jun 02, 2020
As F.G of Nigeria announced the partial ease of lockdown opening us up for the very first time in the last 12weeks, where full business activities may return and many may begin to get their businesses and personal finance back again, I feel it is nice to share experiences of certain business lessons that the traumatic indefinite lockdown has taught us personally, which one may not have realized before.

I intend to put these views together, and share with people, to learn and to guide.

Personally I learned 5 things or lessons as a Salary eatner and hustler.

1. Have a Multiple Stream of Income

It sometimes pays to have a steady income along with your businesses or hustles.. Lot of people got broke financially in just a week after lockdown and while the complete lockdown lasted, only salary earners especially government workers and those who work with good establishment didn't feel the heat much. A local welder man told me weeks ago, that he just realized that he makes only daily income and he's finished if he can't move about. Lol. This is true to many. You can engage in petty trading like selling items, provide services online that fetches money. People that offered online training services from different skills like writing, how to cook certain special meals, digital animations, trainings on herbs that fight certain illnesses and symptoms that come with COVID, as well as business ideas during the COVID, all make cool cash. I know someone who did an Online seminar on WhatsApp at 1k and got 74 subscribers. Now, That's something. Get another hustle or means - a part time paid Job with your business, or a business with your salary. It helps always.

2. Have Personal Savings: No matter how small you earn, one should endeavour to try atleast, save a little. Those who had no savings were mostly at the mercy of give-away food, and cash, both online, NGOs, and donation by families and friends. Of course, your plan for your savings may have changed as many kept emptying their purses to feed and help others, as humanity is first but you may not turn to a beggar like many. Keeping money can be lots helpful. Save for days you may not have time to work.

3. Both Husband & Wife should be earning something

- No matter how small it is, couples should both have means of bringing something to the table, it sure helps to augment earnings. Even "a sit at home wife" or "full house wife" can make money inside that house. She can grind pepper - If you live in a good neighborhood and you are well positioned you can get averagely 5 people wanting to grind soup ingredients, moin-moin, maize, Elubo (yam flour) etc -daily. That's N300 daily at N50 and there are people who make fortunes by having 10 times of that with better grinding price and more customers.

A man told me, for example that while the lockdown was threatening his family purse, his wife's small business of frying fish and grinding pepper was a saving grace. In a week sometimes, she makes nothing less than N3,000 from all these.

Women should help their husbands and men should set up businesses for their wives or help them get paying jobs. It will ease you of many things as a man.

4. Never stop looking for a better Job or Business:

The COVID experience adversely affected some businesses more than the others, and one of them are street mushroom businesses and private schools with staff. As schools were totally closed down, I know private school teachers who have been living from hand to mouth. Some schools stopped paying teachers after March Salary because they can't pay for service you didn't render, yet it is not your fault. And some businesses stopped paying their staff too. Especially salesboy or girl Jobs, street Marketers, front desk officers, clerks, and receptionist. Once the business doors closed, some people's means of Survival ends too. Don't let yours be like that too. Learn from this experience.

5. Online Business is the Future:

With COVID - 19, while some businesses languished, some instead were flourishing. In fact they made more than the usual. Businesses like Online payment outfits using P.O.S, Banks make more N65 from transfers than they would do from using ATM Card due to giveaways. Netflix showed that Cinema houses can be useless as many people started downloading films as they like.. And there are more of such businesses. I know a lot of writers who wrote more during the lockdown. May be it tells us that we all should find an online services to render to. May be that's why I love writing because in COVID -19, there is always something to write about. Lol

Did you learn anything from these at allhuh

What experience did COVID-19 teach you on personal finance and businesses?

Someone gave this guy @Cutebiola aka Ankara Gucci this car on his birthday celebration yesterday. In fact, someone among his fans who he had never met or heard of. When my wife showed me yesterday, I just smiled and felt happy for the dude.

The story of thecutebiola rise to fame in comedy business has never been accident. From one Alagbole side (Ghetto side) of Ilorin, Ankara Gucci keeps balling. Probably one of the first online comedians that I followed from his very first few days. As at the time he started this Ilorin local funny skits, all he had was just O-level. But he had his focus. He would go to one street, shot his video, do another at backyards of not beautiful building, and another inside palapala agbole (Ghetto Areas).

He keeps dishing out originality and more people keep accepting his brand. Then Nollywood Actor Femi Adebayo found him while he was S.A to Gov at Ilorin like an adopted son and many brands started coming from hair saloons to Car sellers, to rich folks.

He does ads for them and make small money from them. I knew a lot of small businesses at Ilorin through Ankara Gucci's Comedies. He would go to Ilorin stadium every Saturday to play and do video with kunu seller, small hawkers and I became more interested in watching him every other day. We are in a stressed society, comedies are relievers for some of us. It makes us laugh and feel life can be simpler too and there are thousands of folks like that, as such you will get your place and it is not only about comedy but every other legitimate hustle.

Hustle pays too. Don't wait till you're employed if jobs ain't just coming. You can employ yourself. Keep thinking of what you can use your hand or Idea to do. Heaven rewards hardwork in many ways. I have seen that many times.

In hustle, you may not earn a lot at the beginning but the efforts being put to make it will yield one day. I'm a number 1 supporter of hustlers. Just make it legit, whether in karakata business, or creative business or Service providing or jama jama in Artisanship, it will yield someday.

I have a friend who makes more money in COVID on POP & tiling going into hundreds of thousands. Don't let anyone decieve you that you are wasting your time like someone once told me that an hustler is someone who has no focus or dream in life, just doing this and that.

Lol! I told him the truth in life is that most successful people have tried their hands on different things. Basketmouth started with rap music, e no pay, e no work, e tried comedy.

P-Square started with football in Jos with Mikel. In fact people claimed they were both good players then, but changed to music.

You can run an online radio business today, if e no work after years, you can try going into graphic designs, nothing stops you from scratching many surfaces.

Ankara Gucci today is also a naval Officer. Toh! E rise olohun bi..(See God's ways!) Everything na still hustle o. Lol.

What's the 2D or Koko of this whole thing (Essence of this write up)?

Well, the message is simple. Keep thinking of many things you can also try and be relentless in your pursuit. Hustle pays too and there is always an harvest time.

Hi Tech gurus, I opened this blog almost 3months ago as a diary blog on interesting stories and facts on history, Nigerian culture, business and to share top job vacancy opportunities.

And presently, I have around 33 posts on it, all I wrote myself.

I applied for AdSense twice with an old AdSense account on my expired blog, I was rejected with " Valuable Inventory: Templated pages" -this blog doesn't comply bla bla.

I was worried. I used copyscape to see if there is duplication any where. Nothing is seen. Then I kept writing.

I wrote an article on "history of dethroned traditional rulers in Nigeria" weeks ago during Sanusi's removal news and I got about 50,000 page views in a day and it is going to 71,000 as I write. As many shared it on facebook and whatsapp. But there is a problem, so many blogs stole my article word for word and posted it on their blog. About 10 blogs with only 3 that gave a back link.

Now Copyscape sees that article as copied.

Now my problem is this.

1. Will this affect my AdSense application?

2. How do I stop people from copying my articles?

3. I can't find any of my blog on Google if I search for the title word for word, rather, what I see are my stolen articles? Can anyone help me crawl my blog to be seen on Google?

4. How can I get Google absence on this blog?

I have many historical write ups to put on this blog but I'm not encouraged by the way it's been going.

Urgent help is needed pls.

See the blog here. www.omoelublog.com

All suggestions and helping hands will be appreciated.

Thanks gurus
PoliticsEkiti Kings’ Brouhaha: Gov Fayemi Pays Alaafin A Visit In Oyo by micronut(op):
In what looks like an emergency visit to the ancient Oyo town, against the backdropped of the recent Ekiti traditional council disagreement, where the governor queried some 11 kings for insubordination, and Oba Lamidi Adeyemi Alaafin of Oyo wrote the governor back on the need for him to tread gently on the issue to avert future dethronement of traditional rulers like that of Sanusi and many in the past – it appears the governor has taken Alaafin’s letter more serious.

Fayem with Alaafin at his palace in Oyo
Governor Kayode Fayemi arrived Alaafin’s palace hours ago, today Sunday 15th, March and their discussion seems to be more around the letter written as shown in one of the pictures where Oba Adeyemi was showing the governor a copy of the letter written.

Gov Fayemi discussing the letter with Alaafin
Oba Adeyemi addressed many issues in the letter, by going down the memory lane on the history of the kingships grouping in Ekiti, since the days of the Pelupelu 16 Ekiti kings in 1941/1947.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Ekiti traditional council, the Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti, Oba Ajibade Alabi has equally written the governor of Oyo state Engr. Seyi Makinde on the need to restrain Alaafin on dabbling on issues beyond his terrain.

Would this visit finally put a stop to the degenerating Ekiti traditional council brouhahahuh

Well, only time will tell.
