Too high?
Nah, Not really. What you stated is around 30-40W. My Growatt SPF 5000 ES 5KVA consume 72W in idle mode.

I'll recommend it. It's affordable although I can't tell if there are available service centers Incase of damage.
What's the idle load consumption of that Haisic inverter, the 4.2kva; 24V?

It's normal na.
Your charging stop at 100% and resumes at 95%.
So nothing to worry about.

is there communication between your inverter and battery
Yes, very much active. At first I assumed maybe that's the way Growatts inverters are designed to work; but I've seen a few online that stays idle without any power draw during the afternoon.

What is more helpful is what the voltage is saying and not the percentages.

What voltage does it get to when it's 100% and what voltage does it settle at when it gets to 97% or continues to decline.

Also check the voltage you set as float, this might be key...I don't really see a problem yet, besides something not being configured properly.

What should concern you is ruling out a battery problem which can be achieved by monitoring the voltage behaviour all the way down to the individual cells.
Thanks for your submission bro. I can't set all those voltage parameters, float voltage etc. you mentioned up there. Once you set up BMS communication between the battery and inverter, you can't set all those anymore. I can't even set the cut off voltage. The inverter only allows for "percentages" which I set to 20%. I will drop the voltages at 100% and 96% by weekend. I've left my house for work today.

Ah
Now I get you; issue ain't what I thought earlier. It's more like when it gets to float stage, it disconnects. Well I presume this should be a configuration issue. Since it gets to 100% and stops charging; rather than continue floating. See eh, I don't know that your model BUT this should be a configuration issue.
mayBe you go through the settings or share your settings screen with us. The floating voltage is either not set or wrongly set or probably it disconnects . You might have to share your settings screen with us. Hopefully others could share their own inputs. Me dey come dey go
Thanks baba. Unfortunately, I left home today. I will share the screen once I get home by weekend.

It's not really a problem but I just wanted to understand the reason why it's working that way.

most times, when the output coming from the Solar panels is higher than necessary, it stops recharging the battery till the solar panels output drops. Hence reason it could work perfectly fine before 12pm but the moment enough sunLight comes out, the issue would start. You might need a higer capacity or modify the settings of your charge Controller / Hybrid inverter
I don't have a problem with recharging. After the battery becomes full; I expect it to remain at that "100%", on the display of LVTOPSUN batteries you'll see IDLE when the inverter is not pulling any power from the battery.

But my battery trickle discharges with "0.3 to 0.33A" down from 100%. It stays there like that and by 6/7pm it'll be at 96%. Even if you load the inverter with a pumping machine and a pressing iron at the same time; the current draw from the battery stays at that '0.3-0.33A"; all other power draw comes from the panels.

The inverter will only charge the battery back to 100% only when it drops below 90%
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by micxwell(m): 2:34pm On Dec 01, 2025
bassdow:
I have experienced such before but it's been very very long. First check your charge controller (if not using Hybrid inverter) else check to ensure the Charging system is not cutting off due to capacity.
To best of my knowledge, such only happens when the Sun comes out very very well (when the charger's output is high enough).

Hopefully, the charging system is configurable
The inverter charges the battery directly. i don't use a Charge controller.

why gamble when you easily could buy from those in here
Hello bro. I use a LVTOPSUN 5KWH BATTERY, 5KVA GROWATT SPF 5000 ES INVERTER.

I want to ask if this is normal. During the afternoon when the sun is shining, I expect the battery to go completely into idle mode once it gets to 100% but no o; the battery starts discharging by 0.33A.

Regardless of whatever load I put on the inverter, the battery discharge current remains at that 0.30 - 0.33A.

Usually by evening around that 6pm/7pm the battery would have discharged to around 95-96%.

Is this normal, I feel the 100% should just stay (remain idle) there till I start using it around that 6/7pm.

isn't that funny. So the likes of Jumia, Konga, AliBaBa, etc despite being big names, don't have their nuances and quirks.

So rather than sharing more vendors and outlets and retailers, etc you guys deem it fit to just promote 1 or 2 entities like they don't have their own issues. Almost on regular basis, it's either they're out of stock, or their prices are higher than normal.

and you think the'r prices eer would be reasonable if they have very little need to compete.

Of course we know they got staff / agent in here.

No wonder it was so easy for our people to be colonized. Common sense, we just no get.
so the moment dem no get something, it's better we just wait or go to the NUMBER 2.
Honestly, if I had a better option, I won't buy from them but you don't know who is who. I asked here when I wanted to buy, the only recommendation I got was Fouani. If you have any seller you are sure of, you can share their contact with us.

Because they'll always deliver, shipping is free, and you know you're getting good panels. Hardly rocket science.
Shipping is not free o grin. It is just the peace of mind you get from knowing that your panels are original that makes it beneficial.

If you are connecting your panels in series, then 6mm² is more than enough.

Hi bassdow. Happy sunday. Please I need your quick input on this before I spend another money. My team of installer are saying the DC solar PV cable I got is not good enough. I bought the 6mm² cable. Two other installers I got quotation from both wrote 6mm² cable for the solar pv cables so I don't know why these people are saying the cable is not enough. Panel is 590watts.

If the DC breaker is between panel and inverter, then its wrong rating. Seeing as u wud most likely connect the panels in series, u sud be doing btw 20 to 25amps max. Ur inverter mppt specs though would help.
@danfreey should be able to help tell if the lvtopsun battery comes with an mcb or mccb, if it does then wont advice having another breaker connected.
You are right. The current sits at 22A.

You evven get idea pass wetin some of us think.
Another thing you should note is, if the total yards required, is close to (half or more than half of) a bundle, it's often cheaper getting a full bundle, than buying in yards.
At end of the day, what matters is, ensuring the workMan buys all he told you He's buying, and doesn't leave with anything.
I don buy wire clip wey I ended up not opening at all due to adjustments that were made later; had to leave it with the customer.

Also before reducing certain things, try to relate with your workMan to understand why it's 50-yards and not 25-yarrds or more or less.
Alright baba. Many thanks.

This installation fee is for what exactly?
The load wire is from where to where?
What type of battery are u using? Is it an mcb or mccb he is getting? Is there an actual need for a battery breaker esp if ur battery already comes with one?
What does he want to do with a 125amp DC breaker?
Wud e mind if u buy ur breakers and spds urself and he just comes to do his installation as that wud be cheaper for you?
Thanks bro for asking this important question.

1. The installation fee covers the solar panel installation and other in-house wiring, breakers, surge protectors, etc.

2. For the load wire, I just got home yesterday and took my measurements. I won’t be needing more than 20 yards. From my main junction box area (starting from the middle of the wall) to the top of the artwork rail (middle of the wall) at the spot where I plan to mount the inverter and battery, I measured 5.5 meters with a tape. Accounting for kinks and other excesses, I believe 10 yards should do ×2; that’s 20 yards. Maybe I should get 25 yards to avoid any blame game.

3. The battery is LVTOPSUN, 51.2V 100Ah, 5kWh. As for whether it’s MCB or MCCB, I’m not sure yet.

4. Regarding the 125A DC breaker, I’ll have to ask him about that too. Are you saying it’s too much or not necessary?

The grid supply is terrible here, so I don’t plan to connect the inverter to the grid at all.

I bought the battery, inverter, solar PV cables, and panels myself.

I’m yet to receive the solar panels........Fouani wahala.

I’ll definitely review the quote with him again and probably bring it down to below ₦300k.

Normally, I try to only make RESPONSEs that would be useFul to more people.

Now, He said he got 1.2 Million naira, and going by the stated Load, he would not be able to easily afford a solar setUp even with said 1.2-million naira.

Now those in our line of Business (aka solar installers) do understand USEd Solar Panels are always in demand - enter market make you see as people dey buy am like water. You go order like 30pcs think say you don buy market till you see another wey buy pass you.
Guess what, a lot of them ends up being sold as brand new.

As per why I still use Tubular and lead Acid batteries even in 2025, that's because not all of us are financially Fluid. Some people could easily raise 1.5-million naira and should anythng go wrong, can raise same or more almost immediately.
Then there are those of us that would need several months to save up 1-million naira; and should anything go wrong, na to wait till further notice.

Also e get those of us wey be say we no fit easily survive a single failure in our system

e.g a single cell of 3.2v for instance could be the only thing making your 7.5kw lipo4 battery to stop working HENCE you either replace the entire thing, or look for where to do cell extraction both of which ain't CHEAP at all.
Now imagine say na 4 strings of Lead Acid / Tubular batteries, and one of them goes bad, na to replace just that one (don't bother telling me it's MIXing old and new batteries) or temporarily downGrade. So you see, me (and I know I'm not alone) no get that kind money.

same goes with using hybrid inVerters with it's baked in charge Controller; a single fault to the inverter or charge Controller is akin to putting all your eggs in a single basket - I rather pay more to have 2 separate systems, than a single one even if it's seems CHEAPer.

Also same with very large solar panels, I rather go with 4pcs of 450w Solar panels, than 2pcs of 900watts Solar panels which would still give a total of 1,800 watts. You know why, because among other things, a single solar panels going bad either means You loose either 900w or just 450w.

Even in computers, I prefer having 2 sticks of ram each being 32GB than a single 64GB ram stick.
in fact if said computer got space for 4 ram sticks, I would go with 4pcs of 16GB rams.

Another issue I got with Hybrid inverters is, they are more fragile, and expensive + chances of successful repairs is often very low. Funny enough, I never use am personally before BUT no be all of us need chop before we know the taste of the pudding. Imagine buying an Inverter for 500,000 naira make e come burn or spoil and after so much stress, you come receive news say na to change board (not cheap) or complete replacement

Mind you, difference between a brand new, and Used solar panels is NOT often much judging from their outPut.

Also, Difference between Lithium batteries, and Tubular / LeadAcid batteries ain't much - You think it's much because they want you to THINK so. Major difference is DOD which is 50 in non Lithium based batteries and 80 in Lithium batteries.

Once again, most people got no need for Bi-facial solar panels. Always buy (half-cut) MONO Solar panels.

of course, all the above no concern those wey get better Money.

MAKE I STOP HERE FOR NOW

Want to presume a lot of us do understand all the Rubbish wey I dey talk. Those wey I pity na the innocent Ones wey dey try follow crowd.
The fact that you didn't let your emotions get the better of you with this response says a lot. Welldone bro. You perspectives are valid and I appreciate the balance you bring to conversation on this thread.

Folks wey no too get money no go see the thread run 😂😂. There's always something for everyone. #ValueForMoney
