Some suspected Fulani herdsmen on Monday attacked the farm of a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation , Chief Olu Falae , at Ilado village in the Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State , destroying some crops worth millions of naira .
The Publicity Secretary of the pan-Yoruba socio -cultural group , Afenifere , Mr . Yinka Odumakin, disclosed this to journalists in Akure after the monthly meeting of the association, held at the residence of the leader of the group , Chief Reuben Fasoranti on Tuesday.

The Personal Assistant to Chief Falae , Captain Moshood Raji (rtd .) , confirmed the incident, saying many crops were destroyed . He added that it was the police escorts of the elder statesman who shot continuously into the air that sent the herdsmen out of the farm .

Raji said , “ They attacked baba ’s (Falae ) farm and destroyed the crops there but immediately we reported to the police . ”

Odumakin , who read the communique of the group to journalists accused the Federal Government of showing no concern at the incessant attacks of the Fulani herdsmen on the people of the South -West and Middle- Belt of the country .

He said , “ We are worried about the renewed onslaught of Fulani herdsmen in Yorubaland . Recently , a Permanent Secretary of Osun origin , Mrs . Funke Kolawole was killed on Okene -Lokoja road on her way to Abuja .

“ Also , another 72 -year -old woman was recently gang- raped in Odigbo area of Ondo State and the hoodlums are yet to be brought to book and of course Chief Olu Falaye whose farm has become a source of attacks by the Fulani herdsmen, only yesterday (Monday ) came under a renewed attack with policemen on his farm shot at by these Fulani herdsmen .

“ We are aggrieved that the Federal Government has continued to turn the other eye while the herdsmen continue their unlawful activities over the country , especially the southern Nigeria and middle belt.
The association called on the governors of the South -West to emulate the Ekiti State Government and ensure that they put in place appropriate laws to deal with the activities of the herdsmen in the region.

Mr . Oseloka Obaze has emerged winner of the governorship primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party in Anambra State .
Obaze , a former Secretary to the Anambra State Government, polled a total of 672 votes on Monday to defeat two other aspirants .
As reported by Channels Television , 958 party delegates participated in the election.

Women are too emotional! They are too envious of their fellow women. That is why they would be pained when they discover that their friends are about to be more successful than them.

I just witnessed one. I have been friend with a teenager which happens to be a lady for a while now. when I went back home during the holiday, her friends were annoying that I was not given them much attention I was given their friend. They started criticizing me in her presence, one of her friends was even castigating me in her presence to discourage her from being close to me.

Do you know why they put up all this behavior? Because they think I was/am going to ask their friend out. They don't want their friend to date someone better than their boyfriends---- a medical student.
I don't think nor believe that being medical student mean I would be more successful than their boyfriends in the future.

The commission ’ s Deputy Zonal Head, Ibadan , Kazeem Oseni , who spoke on behalf of the Acting Chairman of the commission , Ibrahim Magu , during a press conference said that the Ibadan office had recovered around N277 . 9 m from fraudsters in the past nine months, adding that 50 cases had been instituted against the perpetrators of the financial crimes with 381 other cases being investigated .
He said , “ The commission is attending to 431 cases among which 50 cases are already in court . In the past nine months, we have arrested 195 individuals in connection with bank fraud, internet fraud, land and general disputes. Among the cases in court are the ones involving the Vice Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University , Ile - Ife , that of the Federal University of Technology , Akure and Federal University of Agriculture , Abeokuta .
“ The prevailing case in Ibadan is internet frauds involving young people. The Ibadan office has so far recovered N 277, 931 , 341m from various financial criminals while we have also recovered objects like cars used by fraudsters to perpetrate crimes . ”
While shedding more light on the number of arrests made by the commission , Head of Public Affairs , Ayo Oyewole , told journalists that undergraduates formed larger part of those in custody, adding that some hotels were also seized .
“ Many cars were recovered from undergraduates who were investigated or being investigated . They deal in fake online marketing , fraudulent online dating , ATM fraud and other forms of internet crimes . Over 100 of them have been arrested in the past nine months by the Ibadan office of the EFCC . We have also seized some hotels from fraudsters , ” he said

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has commenced an indefinite nationwide industrial action .
The National President of the union , Dr . Biodun Ogunyemi , announced this on Monday during a meeting of the National Executive Council of ASUU in Abuja .
He said during the strike, there shall be no teaching , no examination and no attendance of statutory meetings of any kind in any of the union ’ s branches across the country.
According to Channels TV , Dr . Ogunyemi declared a total , comprehensive and indefinite nationwide strike after a nationwide consultation with members at an emergency NEC meeting held on Saturday, August 12 , 2017 .

Hmm see this thread sha..... Almost all science students want to read medicine... Don't tell me it's passion abeg, because most people are irritated by the sick and old.... So why are they so many people instrested in it?

Here is my observation and opinion about the issue you just raised up there:
My observation: Beginning from primary through high schools, if you have the privilege of interviewing pupils/students of the course they would like to study in university, you would discover that almost 80% of them want to study medicine & surgery, 10% law, 6% engineering courses and the rest for the other courses. The reasons for the aforementioned are unemployment, ignorance, poverty etc.. People believe that when you graduate with MBBS you will surely gain employment, which is partially true.
Ego, every kid wants Dr to be attached to their names. Parents want their kids to be called Dr.

My opinion: Inasmuch as MBBS is good and prestigious, it should not be only option. Parents should try as a matter of necessity to guide their wards in choosing where their interest lies, not what their friends want. In 2015/2016 jamb, more than 12500 candidates competed for 100slots in unilorin, more than 10000 in oau for 100slots.It would take 100years for all of them to be admitted provided new candidates are not joining them. We can't all become doctor! being a doctor doesn't give you financial freedom nor high social status, they are earned through hard work and chance.

A US military aircraft has crashed in the southern state of Mississippi , killing 16 people, US media reported Monday .
The US Marine Corps confirmed that a “ mishap ” involving a KC- 130 occurred in the evening , without providing additional details .
The Clarion - Ledger newspaper and CNN cited Leflore County emergency management director Fred Randle as confirming the death toll of 16 .
