Suspected cult members have shot dead an undergraduate of the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna , Saviour Enoch .
It was learnt that Saviour , aged 20 , was killed on Saturday about 8 pm along the Gwegwe- Navy Road at Ovom , in the Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State .
Saviour , it was learnt , was admitted into the NDA two years ago .
The murdered military cadet , a resident of the Ovom area, was said to be on holiday in Yenagoa from the NDA when the incident occurred .
The deceased was said to be on the street , having a chat with his visiting friend and naval rating with the Central Naval Command when they heard screams from a victim whose bag was snatched by suspected cult members .
Saviour , who was a native of the area , responded to the cry for help and chased the suspects .
It was gathered that unknown to him ( Saviour ), other members of the cult had laid in ambush to ward off any rescue attempt and he was shot at a close range .
It was further learnt that immediately they shot him , the cult members disappeared amid pandemonium created by the murder .
The spokesman for the Bayelsa State Police Command in Bayelsa , Asinim Butswat , confirmed the incident , saying that the police had arrested no fewer than 20 persons in connection with the killing .
“ The community has condemned that act in totality and they have come out en masse to show their support for the police to arrest the suspects . We have arrested some persons during a routine operation that was carried out after Saviour was shot .
“ About 20 persons have been arrested . I know that they have screened some of them. I do not know how many of them are linked directly to the killing . However , the community has volunteered useful information concerning the actual suspects . ’’
Meanwhile , Saviour ’ s family has urged the security agencies in the state to bring the killers to justice.
The deceased ’ s uncle, Mr . Ovieakini Enoch , made the appeal on Monday in Yenagoa .
Ovieakini said Saviour was admitted into the NDA two years ago and that his father , Gbavieme Enoch , also died two years ago while serving in the Nigerian Army in Maiduguri , Borno State .
Ovieakini said , “ That is why Saviour ’ s death is a painful one . We are calling on the police and other security agencies to assist us to bring the perpetrators to justice.
“ I learnt that the police have made some arrests on Sunday . ”
Meanwhile , scores of angry women on Monday took to the streets of Ovom , a suburb of the Yenagoa over the killing of the military cadet .
The protesting women said Saviour was killed while trying to rescue a victim of an armed robbery in the area .
It was learnt that the paramount ruler of Ovom community and the aggrieved women in the area had resolved to work with the police to expose cult members in the area

Nigeria education is a zilch!
The only thing we do here is committing lecturers note and text books into memory. If you are on first class don't think you are intelligent-----it is just that you allot more of your time into memorizing stupid notes given you by your lecturers.
Before you start criticizing me, I am also a student. First class in part one (100level) before preclinical, now in part4. we are still memorizing book coupled with stupid practicals. Nigeria education na watch!
