Chances of getting infected with HIV/AIDS in Rivers state, Nigeria’s oil-rich city is pretty high as it ranks number one in the country.

There’s loads of money in Rivers, so is the vulnerability of its citizens and residents to HIV/AIDS.

According to the HIV/AIDS prevalence ranking by states published by National Agency for the Control of Aids (NACA) after the 2013 National Aids Reproductive Health Survey, Rivers sits pretty at the top 4.7 per cent more than number two, Taraba state.

The ranking also came as a result of test carried out on persons living with HIV/AIDS.

It showed that Rivers with 15.2 per cent topped the new prevalence chat, as Taraba with 10.5 per cent is second, while Kaduna has 9.2 per cent to be on the third.

Nasarawa, FCT, Akwa Ibom, Sokoto and Oyo are on the fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth spots respectively on the prevalence rate chart with 8.1, 7.5, 6.5, 6.4, 5.6 and 5.6 per cent respectively.

On number 10 is Yobe with 5.3%. Here’s how other states rank: Cross River – 4.4%, Ondo – 4.3%, Gombe – 3.4%, Abia – 3.3%, Bayelsa – 2.7%, Osun – 2.6%, Imo – 2.5%, Borno – 2.4%, Plateau – 2.3%, Lagos – 2.2%, Jigawa – 2.1%, Adamawa – 1.9%, Kwara – 1.4%, Kogi – 1.4%, Kano – 1.3%, Enugu – 1.3%, Niger – 1.2%, Anambra – 1.2%, Ebonyi – 0.9%, Kebbi – 0.8%, Edo – 0.8%, Delta – 0.7%, Ogun – 0.6%, Bauchi – 0.6%, Zamfara – 0.4%, Ekiti – 0.2%.

Bro, you almost made sense with your post. JEGA was not everywhere. He only read out what the REC of the various states presented to him. Jonathan clearly lost the election. Virtually everyone already had enough of him and wanted a change of government. EOD!

Outspoken Enugu-based cleric and founder of Adoration Ministry, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, has advised Nigerians against heaping unnecessary blame on President Muhammadu Buhari.

Buhari, according to the Catholic priest, is not the cause of the sorry state of the nation.

Mbaka gave this charge in Enugu on Saturday in a sermon at his weekly Adoration Ministry, NAN reports.

He equally lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing ministers from the southeast zone and assigning them with good portfolios.

The cleric also warned those agitating for the Republic of Biafra to go back to their business as the protest could lead to their death.

“Locking up your shops and disrupting economic activities will not add any naira to your pocket, whatever grievance you have could be resolved through dialogue,” the cleric was quoted as saying.

He lambasted those leaders that were behind the agitation and protests, saying they should use their children for the struggle.

He said that the five states in the zone had a minister each as prescribed by the Nigerian constitution.

“President Buhari’s action has proven that the South-East has not been marginalised. I would have reacted if no minister emerged from the zone,” he said.

He blamed Igbo leaders for not living up to the expectation of the people in the area, adding that past governors, National Assembly members failed woefully in discharging their mandates.

“President Buhari is not the cause of poor roads, unemployment and other decay infrastructures in the South East, we should blame our leaders.

“Most of the roads had been awarded but our leaders squandered the fund, even the university teaching hospital in Enugu is a no-go-area and our leaders are not concerned about it,” he said.

Mbaka called on the new Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, to use his office to employ youths in the zone, adding that it would stop what he called another Boko Haram in the South East if not curtailed.

He praised Buhari’s war against corruption, saying it had enthroned due process and sanity in governance.

Doyin Okupe, a former spokesperson to Goodluck Jonathan, a former Nigerian president has outlined the errors his boss and their political party made before the 2015 election.

Okupe who was reacting to claims that candidacy of Jonathan was in error stated that the decision to pick his ex-boss was in order but noted that Prof. Attahiru Jega, former INEC chairman should have been sacked because of his political leaning.

“If any error was made it was firstly the failure of the PDP administration to sack the unfair and compromised electoral Officer who was allowed to conduct the election in spite of his obvious and profuse partisanship,” Okupe said on Facebook.

Read his full reaction below:

The impression created in the media recently that the candidacy of Goodluck Jonathan was an error is itself a grand fallacy which totally undermined the whole truth about the sanctity and correctness of the wisdom of the PDP National Executive committee which made and ratified that decision.

All over the world when an incumbent signifies intention for a second term it is customary that the established machinery of the party wholly backs and gratifies such intentions.

If any error was made it was firstly the failure of the PDP administration to sack the unfair and compromised electoral Officer who was allowed to conduct the election in spite of his obvious and profuse partisanship.

The second error was the inexplicable acquiescence of the PDP government to the use of the infamous Card Reader which was skilfully manipulated to the disadvantage of the PDP presidential candidate.

The third error of the PDP was to have fielded a good, God fearing and patriotic man who in spite of his enormous power,
the avalanche of deployable arsenal of war at his disposal, transformed himself to be the victim and refused to fight so that his countrymen may live and his nation survive. The situation in Burundi today is highly instructive.

Certainly history will treat Goodluck Jonathan as one of the greatest heroes of this generation of African Leaders.

Definitely NOT an Error by any stretch of imagination .

I speak today not as a spokesman for President Jonathan, an episode and a proud chapter of my life which has since come to a close but rather I speak as a student of History and a veritable stakeholder in the Nigerian project.

#2billion is no small money. Shekau and his boys don't carry out any major operation that has to do with money. All they steal are livestocks, food items and all, so where do they get this kind of money from if not from some blood-thirsty ne'er-do-wells.

May woes befall their sponsors far and near.
PoliticsBoko Haram Spends N2bn Yearly To Sponsor Attacks – UN by midolian(op): 9:02am On Nov 15, 2015
The United Nations has reported that the Boko Haram sect spends as high as N2 billion to carry out terrorists attacks just as the Senegalese authorities have arrested two suspected Boko Haram female members with 500 million CFA (about N164 million) cash.

Deputy Director of Assessment and Technical Assistance for the UN Counter-terrorism Committee, Hassan Baage, told a gathering of West African Security experts in Dakar, Senegal, that the extremist sect’s annual budget was believed to be up to $10 million.

The Associated Press (AP) which covered the Dakar event quoted the UN official as calling for closer scrutiny of the financing of extremist groups, including Boko Haram.

“We must detect the flow of money that finances their activities and measures must be implemented to freeze the funds. According to reports that we’ve consulted, the budget of Boko Haram is around $10 million per year,” Baage said.

Soumeylou Boubeye Maiga, a special envoy for the African Union, said at the event that a stronger institution was needed to police and block the financing of extremism.

“The transfer of money through informal circles means huge amounts of money can circulate in these regions uncontrolled,” he said.

Boko Haram’s financing could come from crime cartels, false charity organisations and blackmail, said other experts at the forum on fighting extremism. Other analysts said the militants are known to have been paid millions for hostages, mainly French and Cameroonians taken in Cameroon, though Cameroon’s government denies paying ransoms.

Also, a number of suspects have been reportedly arrested in and around Dakar, the Senegalese capital, in the past two weeks with links to Boko Haram.

Two women, according to Premium Times, an online newspaper, were arrested in Guidiawaye, a suburb of Dakar, on suspicion of links to the group.

Officials say the women popped up on the radar of security agencies and were afterwards placed under surveillance after authorities intercepted their communication with a suspected Boko Haram fighter in Nigeria, who was confirmed to be the husband of one suspect and brother to the other.

Security forces also reported uncovering a consistent number of money transfers between the suspects and their alleged Boko Haram fighter-relative for months.

After their arrest, a search was conducted on their home and a cash of 500 million CFA Francs (about N164 million) was found in their possession, authorities claimed.

“The fact that such an amount was in their possession instead of being in the bank further goes to confirm ties with the alleged Boko Haram fighter,” a security source said.

Also this month, two Imams were arrested outside Dakar.

One of them was arrested in Ziguinchor, the regional headquarters of southern Senegal, an area known for its over 30 years of secessionist wars with the Senegalese government.

In Kaolack, another suburban city, hundreds of kilometres outside Dakar, an Imam was arrested.

The town is popular for being a base of the Tijanniya Brotherhood, and home of the renowned Islamic scholar, Sheik Ablaye Niass.

Authorities say the Imam, Alioune Ndao, had been under security radar for months as a result of his suspected links with Boko Haram.

“His sermons have been strangely inclined towards “instigating” his congregation towards Boko Haram ideologies,” the security source said.

Following his arrest, two satellite phones were found in his possession.

Security insiders said a scrutiny of the call histories of the phones showed consistent communications with suspected members of the Boko Haram sect.

In the capital city of Dakar itself, a young man was arrested for alleged links with the terrorist group.

Security operatives say their investigations revealed he was a next of kin to a confirmed Boko Haram fighter in Nigeria.

“He has also been receiving a lot of money transfers from Nigeria after the death of his brother who was fighting for the group,” one of the security sources said.

The Senegalese President, Macky Sall, told the security conference in Dakar that terrorists should not be allowed to “impose another form of religion” that does not “correspond to our traditions or our conceptions of Islam”.

Mr. Sall told the conference that brought together about 800 security officials and analysts from across the region to the Senegalese capital to develop a coordinated response to mounting jihadist threats facing the country.

He said Senegal must develop “a philosophical and theological discourse, training imams with a sense of a tolerant Islam”.

PoliticsRe: Diezani: Sanusi Wanted To Be Afdb President But Jonathan’s Men Frustrated Him by midolian(op):
The fact that Sanusi is your friend does not mean he shouldn't expose the rot in the ministry you were heading. grin
PoliticsDiezani: Sanusi Wanted To Be Afdb President But Jonathan’s Men Frustrated Him by midolian(op): 10:30am On Nov 14, 2015
Diezani Alison-Madueke, immediate past minister of petroleum resources, has revealed that her “good friend”, Muhammad Sanusi II, the Emir of Kano, wanted to be president of African Development Bank (AfDB).

She suggested that the former CBN governor could have been angry with her, based on how some people close to Goodluck Jonathan, the former president, frustrated his AfDB ambition.

Akinwunmi Adesina, former minister for agriculture and rural development, was eventually elected the eight president of the bank in May.

Alison-Madueke, who is currently battling with cancer, also maintained that Sanusi’s allegations about missing $20bn were false.

In an interview with Dele Momodu, publisher of Ovation Magazine and TheBoss newspaper,  Diezani said she never stole any money, challenging her accusers to publish facts.

“If there is one issue I must pursue in this world, it is the biggest lie of this money. How can $20billion disappear just like that? Where did it disappear to? Is it possible that such an amount would not be traceable?” she queried.

“This is more painful coming from someone I considered a good friend who should appreciate the gravity of such allegation. I challenge anyone to come forward with facts showing that I stole government or public money. I’ve never stolen Nigeria’s money.

“Rather, I worked hard to halt the rampant business of round-tripping. When I brought in Reginald Stanley to clean up the place, I requested for a list of the defaulters.

“There were about 92 of them and I made sure we sanctioned them. You can imagine the threat to my life but I was ready to defend the economic interests of my country. In fact, we were able to reduce the oil subsidy by about half. No one has applauded our effort.”

She went on to speak about the former CBN governor’s relationship with the president at about the time of his termination.

“There were those who said the then Governor of Central Bank must have been angry at me because of the way the Presidency treated him. In all honesty, he was being blocked from seeing the President by some of Oga’s people (presidential aides) but it had nothing to do with me.

“I was the one who even told Oga about the development and Oga said he would meet him in London on one of his trips. Unfortunately, my boss fell ill and was rushed to King Edward Hospital and the meeting was aborted.”

“Sanusi and I had been friends. There was no way I would have done anything bad to him. He even came to my house to inform me about his interest in heading the African Development Bank and we discussed for about two hours.

“I promised to support him and I spoke to Oga about it. We were together on the Reconciliation Committee that looked into the accounts of NNPC. Yes there were gaps but not on the alarming scale being circulated. Markafi [former Governor of Kaduna State] did a thorough job. You know he is a very sound accountant.”

In the full interview,  Diezani said her mother, Beatrice Agama, who has been in the centre of numerous allegations, was loved and respected by militants in the Niger Delta
