The heart can never be alive and correct except through congnisance of the truth and loving it and preferring it to every thing else. there can never be any happiness or joy or correction for it unless it makes its sole subject of worship and desire ALLAH (s.w.a) alone.this can never be perfected except through purification of soul,repentance, and its relinquishing itself from all types of false loves and despicable manners.
this can never be attain except through striving hard against one's soul that incites towards evil.

the soul becoming defective and weak revolves around two basic matters
1> the corruption of the knowledge and
2> the corruption of the intent.
these in turn lead to two destructive illness anger and misguidance. misguidance being the end result of the corruption of knowledge and anger being the end result of the corruption of intent. so these two diseases are the lords of all the ailments that afflict the heart.

you are right sweetnecta,intention is neccessary i.e you must ve it in mind dat you wanna fast b4 you sleep.

fasting,tahajud in d mosque in respect of dat new year is bid'ah.pls let us improves ourselves in islamic knowledge.

@uplawal,hmm that ur dream is critical in islam,woman can't be a leader of country.remember what prophet s.a.w said,

worship is act of ibadah,remembrance is meditatng onhis creatures bt if it done wit sincerity,it is reward like ibadah

surely most muslim are in stage of nafs al-lawwama(self reproching) now are days  while least of them are in stage of nafs al-mutamainna(satisfied soul).for you to reach the greater stage is like playing game, if you win bonus will be added to your point vise  versa. i.e if you continious to purifying your soul then you will reach the greater stage nafs mutamainna(the soul satisfied)  if not, it will drop to the stage of nafs al-ammara bis' su(the soul that dictate evil). allah (s.w.a) has declared in 91 vs 7-10
by the soul and him that moulded it  and inspired it with( knowledge of ) sin and piety; blessed be the man  who has kept it pure,and ruined he that has curropted it!.

the messanger of allah(s.w.a) said,wise is the man who reminds himself constantly of the accountability on  the day  of ressurection and so  works hard for the life succeeding death.and silly is the man  whose only concerns are the transient  desires and comforts of this life. he also (s,a.w) described this world as a farm for the akhira (hereafter). whatever you sow inthis world, you shall reap it in the hereafter.

@uplawal, from abdullah bn robi'at,ibn abass asked me, did see what allah  {s.w.a} said ( wala dhikirullah akbar), i said yes,then he asked what is it all about? i  told him, at-tasbihu(subu anallah ), at- tahmid ( al hamdulillah), wa takbir fi solat (saying allah is great in solat), reading of the holy qu'ran, e.t.c he said you had spoken the wonderful words.

solaah is a worship so also a remembrance of allah (s.w.a) e.g at-takbir fi solaah ,al-hamdulillah,subuanallah  all these are remembrance.

THE JOURNEY OF THE SOUL

During the lifetime of the prophet muhammed {s.a.w} the jews of medina sent their allies,the mekkan infidels, to the prophet {s.a.w} to asked about the soul, in replies to their questions,the following Qur'anic verse was revealed:

They ask you 'o muhammed {s.a.w} concerning the ruh{soul} say: it is one of things,the knowledge of which is only with my lord.And of knowledge,you {mankind} have been given very little Q17 VS 85.

The soul is a creature of ALLAH [S.W.A}.It is blown into every human being when it is just a fetus of 120days old,it remains in contact if not inside the humam being throughout its life on earth.

Soul and its body travel through four different world:

1>The womb :where the soul joint the body
2>The world  : where  we all live for a limited period only
3>The grave: a barzakh period
4>The hereafter:the final destination of all human being.

THE DIFFERENT STATES OF EACH NAFS{SOUL}

1>NAFS AL-MUTAMAINNA {the satisfied soul} it is a pure soul without any stain. the Qur'an explain how one can achieve the noble state of the satisfied soul. indeed in the remembrance of ALLAH{S.W.A} do hearts find satisfaction. Q12VS 28.
O you satisfied soul, return to your lord pleased with yourself and pleasing to him enter among my servants.and enter my paradise Q89VS 27-30.

2>NAFS AMMARA BIS SU': in contrast this soul which earns the company of satan because it ignores the remembrance of ALLAH{S.W.A}.the one who withdraws himself from the remembrance of the merciful, we appoint for him  a satan to be a companion to him Q43 VS 36.

3> NAFS LAWWAMA the reproaching soul succumbs to evil inspirations but then regrets its actions and reproach itself for being weak and volnerable. these  feelings of remorse cause it to turn back to ALLAH{S.W.A} suratul Qiyamah vs 1-2

did you observe your salah in its early time?
did you evaluate your deeds before you sleep?
did you encourage people to do good?
how is your stand with islam?
did your soul control you or you control it?.
