We are on the corporate plan and we are on 512 shared. It is basically ok for the 25 systems in my office. For the corporate plan, the contention ratio is quite low. In terms of operation, their subscription is monthly and they use an indoor modem for places with good signals and those under 1meg. but for those on the 1meg plan, they use the out door radio which i understand is not point to point, making it more effective. I hope i answered your questions rightly? |
In a highly suspicious move, the Court of Appeal in Lagos has already given a hearing date to recently jailed People's Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Olabode George. Our sources said the court has chosen to hear George's application for bail next Thursday, November 19, at the Court of Appeal complex in Lagos. It is unclear if a panel has been constituted for the hearing but it is clear that there are serious efforts by ministers in the Yar'Adua cabinet to influence the appeal by proposing that Justice Bode Rhodes-Vivour be included in the panel. Like George, Justice Rhodes-Vivour is a Lagosian. A little drama had unfolded earlier in the week as Mr. George's nomineee in the cabinet, the junior minister Ademola Seriki and some other PDP chieftains, approached the Attorney General of the Federation, Michael Aondoakaa, to seek his help with the Court of Appeal process. The "committee of friends" was shocked when Aondoakaa handed them a piece of paper which contained the cost of getting George out on bail. The cost, which our source did not disclose, was so huge that when George was contacted about it he said that it would bankrupt him. He reportedly said he would rather spend do the time and get it over with than pay that much to get out on bail. Chief George was sent to jail for 21/2 years two weeks ago alongside four other members of the board of the Nigeria Port Authority on charges of corruption, abuse of office and disobedience of lawful financial directives in the management of over N85 billion NPA funds. Chrome, Google's planned operating system, is just about ready to hit the market, according to reports. The OS, which shares a name with Google's Web browser, was announced last July. It will be based on the Linux kernel and may become a significant rival to Windows 7 in the netbook computer space. http://runitecomputer..com/2009/11/google-os-set-for-release-soon.html |

Abubakar Umar, a lawyer and special assistant to Ahmeed Al Mustapha, registrar of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) was found brutally assassinated yesterday in Abuja. Abubakar was trailed by unknown assailants after he left work last night, abducted, shot to death, and set ablaze. His badly burnt body was found near Utako Market in the opposite direction of his residence in Maitama. Already, the Nigerian police has been quick to claim that Mr. Umar died in auto accident, saying that his body was burnt because it was trapped in his burning car. But family members suspect a cover-up, contending that Abubakar's body was riddled with bullets and that the police recovered expended bullet shells from the scene where his body was recovered Saharareporters learnt from a source at the National Assembly that the lawyer, described as a brilliant civil servant, had recently acquired a piece of land bordering the official residence of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives in Abuja. In an attempt to develop the land, Abubakar applied to the National Assembly leadership to grant access to him to take materials meant for development of his land through the property of the National Assembly in the Apo legislative village. Abubakar was reportedly directed to meet with the office of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honourable Usman Bayero Nafada, to seek the necessary approval. But his agents who met with Mr. Nafada were shocked to find out that he was only interested in taking over the land. He (Nafada) offered to pay for it and asked Abubakar's representatives to name their price, but Abubakar refused to sell his prized possession. The deputy speaker denied the application for access and promptly requested the minster of the Federal capital territory to revoke the land allocation to Mr. Umar for "security reason". Things took a curious turn two weeks ago when the land allocation was revoked by the Minister of the Federal capital Territory (FCT), Adamu Aliero, and re-allocated to Mr. Nafada. Abubakar Umar, was considering challenging the FCT in court over the revocation but had not yet been able to obtain the revocation paperwork to enable him commence legal action. Another source also told Saharareporters that his death might be connected with the arrest and prosecution of some persons involved in forging CAC documents. Last month, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested two lawyers, George Ihijirika Okechukwu and Nwaroh Emmanuel, as well as Tolulope Akeju, alias C and C. They were charged before a Federal High Court in Abuja for making a false certificate of registration of increase in shares capital serial number 756501 of the Corporate Affairs Commission in respect of Jeruzeth International Engineering Company Limited, from N1,000,000 to N25,000,000. Abubakar has been buried according to Muslim rites at the Abuja cemetry. source: sahara reporters |
Lagos did a good job with security and the entire awareness and all. Truely, Lagos, owns the game. |
The University of Benin has begun a new search for another speaker for its convocation lecture after the Acting Vice Chancellor was overwhelmed by protests from staff, students and alumni after Saharareporters exposed his plan to give the honour to the embattled former Delta State Governor James Ibori. In anticipation of victory by the Federal High Court in Asaba to quash money-laundering charges against the former governor, Professor Emmanuel Kubeyinje, an Itsekiri from Delta State, had been contacted to help provide a platform for Ibori to relaunch himself. The Delta State government was also backing lavish parties to be held in celebration of Ibori's "victory." Several petitions by civil society groups however forced the troubled Federal High Court judge in Asaba, Marcel Awokulehin, to postpone his ruling. Saharareporters had reported that the judgment would be favorable to Ibori. Awokulehin disappointed James bori and his throng of supporters when he refused to give the judgement that would have quashed the 170-count charge of graft, money laundering and abuse of office proffered against Ibori at the court, which had been created specifically for Ibori. Working with the recently retired Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Ibori had successfully chosen Awokulehin and the EFCC prosecutor, Ibrahim Isyaku (SAN) to "prosecute" him at the Federal High Court in Asaba in a building purchased and “donated” to the Federal High Court by the Delta State government. The court building, which is in the residential area of the GRA in Asaba, ought to have been located in Warri. The Delta state government bought the building from a former Ibori special assistant and current Commissioner for Land and Surveys in the state, Barrister Raymond Guana. Most officials of the current Delta State cabinet, including the governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan and his deputy, Professor Utuama were indicted in the 170-count charge being tried by the Asaba judge. In the University of Benin's search for a new speaker, the institution has now reached out to the former governor of Edo state, Oyegun and the Lagos state governor, Babatunde Fashola. Ibori graduated from the University of Benin in 1986 with a third class in Economics and Statistics. His academic records were destroyed in a mysterious fire that gutted the records office in UNIBEN in the late 1990s. Analysts say Professor Kubeyinje's reputation may have taken a serious hit, as he should have been more discerning in his consideration of the discredited and indicted ex-convict, who has become a byword for corruption and official looting in Nigeria, as the respected institution's convocation speaker.
