The members of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) national working committee left their offices in Abuja today, December, 3rd, as angry party members from Rivers State took over the party’s secretariat. The national chairman of the PDP, Adamu Mu’azu, was among the others who abandoned the office. Cairo Ojugboh, who supervises the party in the South-South zone, was also ordered to leave. Ojugboh obeyed the demand and quickly left the party’s secretariat for the protesters. The activists said they came to protest against ex-minister of state for education and the PDP governorship aspirant in Rivers State, Nyesom Wike and Uche Secondus, the national vice-chairman of the party. Wike is the selected governorship aspirant of Mrs. Patience Jonathan in Rivers State. The protesters were singing war songs and carrying a mock coffin. They also erected a canopy with which they blocked the entrance to the PDP national secretariat. continue reading http://www.naij.com/336249-protesters-storm-pdp-secretariat-with-coffin.html

Olugbenga Ashiru, former minister of foreign affairs, has died in a South African hospital after a long battle with illness. The career diplomat, credited with re-energising Nigeria’s presence in international diplomacy in the post-Olusegun Obasanjo era, died on Saturday. Family sources told TheCable that he had been battling with brain tumour for a while and had be hospitalised for over three months. Ashiru played a key role in the diplomatic face-off between Nigeria and South Africa in 2012 over the deportation of 125 Nigerians for not possessing valid yellow fever vaccination certificates. Nigeria retaliated and the stand-off was eventually resolved. Ashiru, appointed minister by President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011, was removed in 2013 in a cabinet reshuffle. He had been one of the most respected ministers but he was said to have been nominated into the cabinet by Obasanjo who had publicly fallen out with Jonathan. Ashiru, while handing over, said he had succeeded in securing 22 key international appointments for Nigerians. Some of the positions included the commissioner for political affairs in African Union and commissioner for peace and security at the ECOWAS commission. http://saharareporters.com/2014/11/29/former-nigerian-foreign-minister-gbenga-ashiru-dies-66-thecable

United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, one of Africa’s largest financial services institutions, swept the global banking awards in London Thursday, winning in five categories to become one of the highest single winning bank brands at this year’s awards. During the event, organized annually by The Banker magazine, UBA was voted ‘Bank of the Year in Africa’ for 2014, trumping others to win the highly coveted award for pan-African bank brands. This is the second time in three years that UBA Plc has won the prestigious award; the first time was in 2012. Four country subsidiaries of UBA Group in Sierra Leone, Gabon, Senegal and Cote D’Ivoire also won “Bank of the Year” for their respective countries, reflecting a brand excellence that cuts across national bounds and pervades the continent. UBA Senegal won the award for the third consecutive year, having won in 2012 and 2013. Group Managing Director/CEO for UBA Plc, Phillips Oduoza, said, “winning this award twice in three years is a recognition of our commitment to delivering excellence and our consistent achievement of that goal. We remain focused on the realization of our strategic intent of becoming “Africa’s Global Bank” and continue to explore opportunities in markets and sectors across the continent that will enable us achieve this intent,” said Mr. Oduoza. A publication of the Financial Times newspaper, The Banker is a global financial intelligence magazine that provides global bank ratings and analyses and is the definitive reference on international banking for high level decision makers globally. According to the magazine, the aim of the award ceremony “is to highlight industry wide excellence within the global banking community.” One winning bank is selected from participating banks in each of the 120 countries from which entries are received for the competition. Associate Publisher of the magazine, Philip Church, stressed that UBA’s performance at the awards is a testimony to the trust the bank’s clients have placed on the bank and its operations over the year. “Being named as Bank of the Year in your own country by the world’s longest running international banking title is testament to the strong management, sound business model and prudent risk approach of your bank” said Mr. Church. Only last September, UBA won ‘Best Transaction Bank from Africa’. http://www.naij.com/333677-uba-wins-5-annual-banker-awards-in-london.html |

The jet was 'leased' to another company, that means he got paid! NO help involved!! Besides they claimed it was leased to cover his involvement. Wake up, this things are political and has nothing to do with religion. If it did, why would someone call himself a Muslim and kill fellow Muslims??
