A few years ago, I remember trying to bring some family members to naija when when we arrived at Atlanta's Hartsfield Airport.

After all the hassles (ATL is the biggest airport in the World), when we finally reached our concourse, there was not only an overhead loudspeaker warning, but the neon warning on the board read:

Travellers are warned about travelling to the follwing dangerous World airport: Murtala Muhammad International Airport, Lagos, Nigeria.

You can imagine how much effort it took to convience other members of my travelling party to board an airplane that would finally land them in Lagos.

Foreigners without emotional attachment to naija could have easily cancelled the trip.

For all the negative (I didn't say false) information about naija, the then government, with a counsellar office in Atlanta never saw the need to address the issue.

I am glad you were able to convince them.  Others here on a 20 man religious conference cancelled their travel plans even after going the previous year successfully!!!!


What can he do When the problem starts with Nigeria  These reports are based on what foreigners encounter in Nigeria when they visit.  If we clean up the home base then the work is 2/3rds of the way completed.  As it is now--Nigeria is referred to as a "rogue" nation by others because of our socio-econo-political climate.  Mr Consular cannot do much here.

As a kid, my mum beat the shit out of me on a regular basis. If a mug fell to the ground and broke, I got beating, If she called me and for any reason I didnt respond, I got beating, She finds me playing outside with the kids in the neighbourhood, more beating, She misplaces her money or watever, I get beating, I get a bad grade, I get beating, and it just goes on.
