@ MILITIA
i just can't help with your porous thinking.
Must you make this a north-south west-east issue?

I think the guy's lawyer got it. He was caught @ the wrong time - with the virginia tech issue and terrorist fears. He was caught with inciteful writing in a paper that contained other rap lyrics in his car.
Yea he's got strong suspicion hovering around his doings but not like the psychotic virginia tech case or someone with a political cause. The fear of our times should not make us lump things like this together. Criminal matters like these should be treated case after case.
I did not say it is a tribal issue please! angry  I am only saying that since I come from the southern part of Nigeria, I feel humiliated by this! Ha!!!!! shocked  While you keep making excuses for this "waco", I will choose to remain "porous" ----thank you very much!!!!! kiss

denex:
ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A TERRORIST THREAT?!!!I really don't understand this one. Not terrorist threat, not attempted terrorism, but an attempted terrorist threat. PATRIOT Act at work.

@MILITIA
is gun dealing a crime? The guy is a law abiding citizen.

Shey you guys see what that ball-headed JUDGE Bush is doing to America with his PATRIOT Act?

It'll be your turn next.
Denex, while gun dealing is not a crime, what is a 22 year old summer student doing with "guns" for sale to God knows whohuh Carjackers, murderers, terrorists, burglars and all what not!!!  If it were your son, would you be proud of himhuh  Instead of concentrating on how to make a decent living when he graduates, he is engaging in "runs" dealing guns!!!!!!  Like I said he will deal with homeland security for life and this is going to make Nigerians, especially southern Nigerians more scrutinized in America!!!!!

Hope you like that since you are safe away in "Hasso Rock"!!!! It will never get to my turn because I respect the people who have given me an opportunity to better my life and those of my family members where Nigeria failed. I will not give them the slightest opportunity to feel i am a threat to their safety!!! So let us wait for the other southern brothers and sisters to keep ending up in jail and disgracing themselves!!! grin

You think America is like Nigeria when people open their mouths without thinking--------some stupid parents will come to their aids and say "do not mind him or her" ,  he/she was only joking!!!!  Try it here in America!!!  he he he he he!!!! After 9/11 you cannot open your mouth and talk any how in public!!!!!  Nigerians need to learn that!!!!!!

katherinae:
you know, a goood wise friend of mine told me to look at marriage like being in jail.

look at your girl and if u feel that u can live with her in jail serving life without committing suicide or worse murder, hmm then she's a keeper.

same applies to females
In fact, your good wise friend has said it all!!! Amen!!!  I will drink to that!!! You better be in jail with your best friend oh!!!! grin
FamilyRe: Do You Get Beatings From Your Parents? by MILITIA(f): 12:17am On Jul 26, 2007
Siena:
My dad used to beat me, up to when I was 18, he's use fists, cane, steel cable, table legs, once, even slammed a complete dining chair down across my shoulders.

Or, he'd stamp on me, slam me against the walls - neighbours could hear the racket 3 blocks away, and nicknamed him, "the panelbeater". But, it's all in the past, right now, he's filling a hole in the ground.
Siena:
And, he busted 2 of my ribs, by stamping on my chest, when I was 13. I can still remember the sound they made as they broke, and the excruciating pain.

I can also remember the look on my dad's face as I looked up at him - he looked like a savage gorilla.
No way would I beat my kids. Folk do confuse issues though - a little corrective smack probably won't do any harm, a beating, however is different.
My God!  This sounds outrightly abusive. Does not sound like much love lost btween you guys!  All this force to correct a minor child?  What offences did you comit for crying out loudhuh shocked  And your mother just watched? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!  Is that how you built all those muscles?? grin

@poster
My father --LOVE YOU DAD!!! kiss --- liked that rubbery, flexible "willow" cane.  If we were "bad" according to him, he did not hesitate to use it.  But I like the fact that he asked us to choose between your palms and your buttocks to receive your rewards---so no scarring and unnecessary mutilations.  He never used his hands.  My mother was a gem grin  Never hit any of us--- just did not believe in that--Thank God!!!!!! kiss  LOVE YOU MOM!!!!!! grin

@MILITIA

If you do not believe in change then good for you. But for those that believe it would work, they are the ones I invite to send just a single mail to 3 email addresses.
I do believe in change but not when the change has nothing to do with me!  Did I cause the scamming? I have never scammed anyone in my life.  So what can I do to prevent it? shocked  Please let us stop beating about the bush.  It is not in our hands anymore!  The people that are ruining Nigeria and it's image at home and abroad should stop!

So which type of change are you talking about?  Please I have done my part as a law abiding citizen of any nation I live in visit from! If the rest of you cannot do your part, then let it be as it is--GETTING WORSE!!!!    You do your own part! cool  na for talk talk matter?  Is not by shouting like a lone voice in the wilderness that you can effect change!  Are you not part of the system in Nigeria?  So do your part nahuh  Go and arrest all 419ners in Nigeria!

As we are here now one person is trying to 419 me by trying to show me cheap tickets to Nigeria for less than $1000 with one stupid pop up screen!  When I know what it costs for a round trip ticket to Nigeria!  I say it will be difficult! sad If I dare so much as provide my credit card #, I am finished for life! angry
PoliticsRe: How To Stop 419? by MILITIA(f): 7:20pm On Jul 25, 2007
We have actually done our best by not indulging in such scams!!!  Nothing else to do.  You want to carry placade and start going from door to door to proclaim you are not one "them"?  Well, it will work out in the end!  The very Nigerians who engage in this kind of nonsense should find a way to stop.  When people do not here that Nigerians are into every "Shady deal" in the world, then the reputation will correct itself.  Right now, there is nothing we can do about it! Nigeria just happens to be a hot bed for scam artists. Due to the high rate of umemployment and lack of positive economic drive, I am afraid it will only get worse!

babyosisi:
At my workplace,I do not give anybody the opportunity to make any derogatory remarks about my Nigerianness,accent or otherwise.
I don't take nonsense grin grin and they know it.The only times comments have been made of the 419 letters are in conversations which I've started and then they admit to receiving those emails and ask me what that's all about but no comments whatsoever on the Oprah,CNN and dateline bad press we get from time to time.

They preety much know I'll retort and tell them the zillions of things wrong in America too starting with the "stuffing envelope" job which is nothing but 419.
Any honest Nigerians in America and the west in general (and I believe there are millions) must strive to maintain whatever credibility we have left.
We have to show ourselves truthful and trustworthy at work,show up on time,do our jobs above expectation and be exemplary.
That is the only way for the average employer to have a good image of us.

Companies are still going overseas to recruit workers,outsourcing to India,Sri Lanka and Malaysia, why not Nigeria?
We have the manpower and the brains
The bad press hurts us all whether we like it or not.
The words may be unspoken but it's definitely there.
And personally I get scared of our people too.

My hubby was in the midst of recruiting postdoctoral fellows for his research
and I wanted him to advertise it in his alma mater in Nigeria
and his immediate response was that he has worked so hard here and would not want
someone to come show us in a bad light by cutting corners and stuff.

Arabs and Chinese in his institute recruit their own people from their countries and here we are
afraid to get our own because of horror stories we've heard from those who did.
It is very very sad.
I bone them because it is hard to defend yourselves when Nigerians are constantly caught on camera indulging in "international crime" sprees for the world to see?  What will my defense be?  That I am not like the typical Nigerian huh  ----like they know or understand what that is!!! shocked  Even I cannot convince my self that most Nigerians are not scammists.  Then you want me to convince others?  That is very difficult!

I say I just dissappear and go some where to cry! cry  The shame gets to much sometimes! When When you or your husband tries in own way to make a difference, 2000 others are trying to delete your positive influences.  That is why I say I cannot defend any Nigerian scandal.  Because it is there for all to see.  Not made up!!!!  It cannot stop!
Foreign AffairsRe: How Is Nelson Mandela An Africa Hero? by MILITIA(f): 5:11pm On Jul 25, 2007
@Ugwumba

Right on the money!  Always with concrete reasons to support points!

These qualities cannot be found in most typical Africans especially Nigerians.

@Topic

The reason he is called and "African" Hero is that there will never be another like him! cry'

babasin:
if this is what makes an African Hero; then Obasanjo is an African Hero. He handover in 1979, when Mandela was still in prison.
but I still believe this is not enough to determine 'africa hero'
You are missing the point and just trying to start a fire without a lighter! sad

denex:
@babasin
I think that he left after one tenure qualifies him. Because heroes should have positive qualities that are rare among their peers.
He did something new there. He deserves credit.
Precisely!  WHEN COMMETH ANOTHER? cry If only 20% of Africans are as selfless and principled as Mandela!

this Nigerian woman don come again!!

God help us.
Reverend if not that I have the spirit of God,I would have agreed with your punishment for 419ers.
Castration in Ogbete market square at tea time may be a milder punishment
grin
I said I have not recovered!   You know Judge Judy knows how to shout!  She did not even mince words!  I still think I was dreaming!!!!!!  I had to order the transcripts of the show that aired in the 3-4PM slot for that day to make sure I was not making things up!!!! shocked

@Babyosisi
You mean they have not commented to you at your job about our notoriety?  At my job it is an everyday occurence-- especially as we, Nigerians, are many and we do some strange things too.  For example one Nigerian girl assualted and almost choked an akata girl in this kind of confrontation.  I just bone them---especially the Akata and Asian ones! Because if you open your mouth talk too much--you will look more suspicious! You might even get fired if you protest too much.  You will begin to look like a "terrorist" if you complain too much.  So I just close my ears and pretend that I am not listening-----Or just carry my bag for an extended lunch break for things to cool off.  You know right there that that is a very big trap! angry
CelebritiesRe: Who Is More Beautiful by MILITIA(f): 8:12am On Jul 25, 2007
Genevieve of course!   She gatz the face, fashion sense, class, polish, diction and an air of appealing "mystery" about her---very reserved. tongue  Stephanie gatz the height only. tongue  They both have unattractive legs! embarassed---Genevieve- thick-thighs/legs, Stephanie--irregular legs!   So on the whole I give it to Genevieve.
RomanceFavorite 'Romantic' Wedding Songs: Married Or Not! by MILITIA(op): 7:33am On Jul 25, 2007
Well,--------- let's get away from Sleaze for a change!!!!!!!   If you are married what was your wedding song?  For those not married, what do you plan to use on you wedding day? I particularly like "I Need You"  by Marc Anthony because the lyrics are very emotionally involved that you can feel it in your bones, ------ like you are Ramsey Nouah and Genevieve Nnaji getting married in some of our Nigerian Home Videos----- tongue What are some of yours?  Does not have to be in English.  Native law and customs/traditional tunes are welcome too.  Just interpret the title of the songs so we can get the gist of it!  Religious ones are welcome too! grin
