All hell broke lose yesterday evening at about 5:45pm when fire gutted RICHBAM FILLING STATION on Pedro Road, Bariga. Although the cause of the fire was not officially stated but it was widely rumoured that the fire triggered by someone making a phone call near the gas section of the Station. Fire service was surprisingly prompt but their inexperience and lack of expertise was there for show. They couldn't even carry and direct the hose of the water source towards the fire and by the time they succeeded in doing this, majority of the water had wasted on the ground, and bam, they ran out of water. The anxious crowd waited another half hour before another fire van arrived. What could have been easily controlled went out of hand. The fire razed down two (2) buildings beside the filling station. Well, after about two hours, the fire was quenched and normalcy returned. Did i say normalcy? I bet not. Because for some, this Christmas will be one they will never forget. Let us be more careful during this season please. Beware of the EMBERS! God help us!!!

So this fire started from the gas section of the filling station on Pedro Road. Fire fighters came early enough but their inexperience and lack of know-how was evident. It was said that the fire started when someone was answering a call beside the gas section. So the fire was triggered. And it razed about two houses to ashes. At the end, it was quenched after about two hours of inferno. Beware of the EMBERS. god help us. |
