Customs to sack 2011/2013 officers, DCGS, ACGS........ There are indications that some officers recruited between 2011 and 2013 may be more affected in the planned sack
exercise in the Nigerian Customs Service as the Comptroller General of customs, Col Hameed Alli has ordered that
their files be scrutinized.
Source disclosed that office of the CG had been inundated with series of allegations of disparity in promotions and
flaws in recruitment exercises.
It was gathered also that most of the recruitment exercise did not reflect federal character, while the former CG boss
was alleged to be biased in promotion process. "The morale of officers who were denied
these promotions was low because most of them who are qualified for promotion were neglected for belonging to a
popular geographical locations and their squad mates from most privileged areas were given accelerated promotions.
"The senior officers from the rank of Deputy-Comptroller General, Assistant-Comptroller General and those that have
spent between eight and 10 years as a comptroller of customs would be affected also in the gale of sack saga.
It would be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari had directed the new customs boss to sanitize the service
following allegations from some quarters that the nation is losing huge amount of money due to illicit vices being
perpetrated by some unscrupulous customs officials. .
It was also gathered that the recent scale of ululations that greeted the appointment of the new comptroller-general
was sponsored by people that have dented image in the service.
The source also disclosed that President Buhari appointed a non-customs personnel to head the sensitive agency as
some of the senior officers that supposed to fill the vacancy had failed security screening carried out by men of
Department of State Security (DSS)
