Inspiring.
I have a Nigerian colleague who up to 2017 at age 38, had only her SSCE.
Today, she has B.A Psychology (3yrs), Msc. Clinical Child Psychology (1yr) and would be enrolling for her Professional Doctorate in 2026 while presently working as a Neurodevelopmental Assessment Practitioner.
She gave it her 200%. |

Kaykaychizzy: Good morning everyone. Please this question is directed to those in the UK 🙏. I was about sending accommodation fees to a landlord in the UK, but my bank requires his IBAN number which the landlord said he doesn't have or rather, they don't use it in the UK. Now, I'm skeptical of sending him the money through a naira account he wants to give me for the payment. I told him that I'm ready to pay for 2-3 months rent upfront when I arrive. He didn't agree at first but just today, he said no problem on my request. I have never met him before and I wanted to ask those already living in the UK if they believe or think this is real or am I falling into the wrong hands? Please someone knowledgeable with such should kindly assist me to understand this situation and if I have nothing to worry about.
Thanks ✌️ Don't pay anyone until you physically view the accommodation. |

cococandy: I usually hate how people respond to posts like this because they’ll just assume it’s show off and refuse to take the message in it. So here goes nothing
But I visited Nigeria last month with my family and over the course of 14 days I spent several several MILLIONS (I won’t even state the number to avoid unnecessary analysis) just to have the BASIC standard of living we’re used to. It wasn’t luxury at all in my opinion.
So I’m imagining how someone who’s not earning 1 million monthly is faring. Last I checked majority of Nigerians are not earning over that. Literally everything cost as much or more than it would in America.
They just changed everything and only cater to the rich and powerful now it seems. How are the average people surviving?
I hate when they try to use patriotism and love of country to make people accept a bad situation as if it’s normal. Nigeria seems to be the only country that charges the US dollar equivalent of items without the income of its citizens matching those prices. That brand of "patriotism" cannot airbrush the harsh reality of the daily lives of the overwhelming majority of Nigerians in Nigeria struggle with. You are even talking about how people not earning up to one million naira monthly, when the Finance Minister, said the attached . No one can gaslight me into normalizing bad situation.
