She was in APC in 2023 when some APC lackeys affirmed that she supported Atiku in the presidential elections. Atiku is an institution in Adamawa State. Many of the candidates from other parties support him in order to stand a chance of winning their own elections. Peter Obi will still get substantial votes in Adamawa State if Tinubu does not end up flipping his Christian bloc that voted him in 2023 by buying them off.

Dangote obviously needs to raise capital. For the first time, his Buhari–Emefiele combo isn’t in power, so the easy political-money route is gone. His options are simple: take expensive loans or sell equity. And equity is clearly the easier route.

Nigeria’s borrowing costs are around 30%, while U.S. rates are above 7%. Equity lets him raise billions without paying interest, and if the share price later collapses, shareholders eat the loss, not Dangote.

Then there’s the refinery itself. Buying into refining at the peak of an Iran-driven oil-price cycle is a serious risk. If the conflict ends tomorrow and crude prices crash, margins get squeezed immediately. Unlike cement, where limestone is essentially available at negligible cost, a refinery has to continually buy crude, its primary feedstock.

And let’s stop pretending refining is a money-printing machine. Refining margins are notoriously thin, and globally, refinery closures have outnumbered new openings for years. This is a brutally capital-intensive business.

What’s also telling is how quickly Dangote has brought this business toward the public equity market compared with his other ventures. He typically builds and operates businesses for years before sharing ownership with the public.

I’m not saying the shares are a bad investment. I’m saying the refinery is nowhere near the easy-money story people are selling.

If you’re a smart investor, don’t chase the hype. Let the stock get hammered first. If it eventually falls toward ₦200, that’s when the risk-reward gets interesting.

I will do my best to simplify my opinion for you so it is a bit straightforward.

Dangote refinery is a privately owned company and not a state(government )asset.

Fuel prices are controlled majorly through two heavy machinery the Brent crude UK and the other arm in NY.

When Global prices fluctuate, so will prices reflects across all major buyers of the commodity. Especially with the war in Iran and the US over the Homuz. While Homuz maybe far away, prices still pass through the corridor.

Just because Nigeria produces oil doesn't mean they set prices, and will sell it for Dangote at peanuts. NNPC still has to sell in accordance to global price to Dangote.
If Nigeria's own refineries are functioning, then this will be a different conversation entirely.

However, refinery or not there is a little bit of rebate for his refinery, but on the condition that he is also still limited by how many barrels they are supplying him. And he has to buy from other producing channels that primarily sells with the same global price benchmark.

So he buys at $101pb from NNPC, he refines, pay workers, run a mega factory and what about profit?. The refinery has shareholders to answer to, loans they have to service, workers they have to pay, and all other expenses. Now he pumps out at 870 naira per litre, mean while in Niger and Benin, they are selling the same pump price at 1700 naira, how much longer do you think smugglers will drown him in debt?

The question isn't weather Dangote is being fair, it's understanding that the refinery is not a government property. It is a business on its own and every business has to make a profit. And so far he has been lenient enough to even slash prices to cushion the market for Nigerians. While other African countries aren't even selling below 1700 naira per litre.

Without getting more technical, I hope I have done my best to be practical in a explaining it in a more layman terms
