yes your radiator and engine block will experience major rust that will end up eating up and course Hole's that can put water into your engine and also damage your radiator resulting in expensive replacement, you will also experience inadequate cooling and multiple water shortage in short drive time

hmmm. I recently observed that my coolant water finishes after 3 to 4 days. but I see no where it leaks. is it not that the water is not returning? I will buy normal coolant too

Check if your brake pads are worn out, check the brake fluid to know if it's low, if low bring it to the upper line, if all good then check the abs fuse inside the car compartment. If good then check the abs sensor and wire around your tire to know if it's ok.. Goodluck.. I didn't mention the abs controller itself because your problem no go reach there, hopefully lol

my abs wire around the tyre was disconnected. so, abs shows constantly on my dashboard. my mechanic said that wire disconnected no mean anything much,I should leave it like that. so, we just tie it somewhere around.

even my brake light is showing permanently, mechanic said previous owner disconnected the hand brake, that handbrake doesn't do much as well.

any suggestions?

I met a man dealing on mgbuka (car dismantling) he offered 400k, i told him to look out for another car for me. After a week, he got one. I added 200k and got the new one. Still a Nigerian used. My gearbox was used for the new one as its gear only reverses.

I have been browsing about the valve seal.... Symptoms, it says when the car is idle for a long time, u start it, that smoke will come out and stop, my own doesn't do that...

I used d car 4pm on Monday and used again by Wednesday 8am...that's over 24hrs parked, it doesn't smoke at start and does its smoke at acceleration or occasionally without acceleration

If it was rings, it will smoke in the morning and will never stop.

If it's PCV, it will not smoke heavy.

Only valve seals smoke heavily on acceleration or revving the car at stand still and then stop smoking. Other smoking types don't stop but valve seal stops. It causes shortening of oil like the rings and PCV. Also you will have random misfire (jacking) and loss of power when it smokes.

The symptoms is exactly like mine. Selling is your choice, however, you will never know what you will buy. Be careful not to jump from frying pan to fire.

I had exactly the same symptoms but was fixed recently.

The culprit is valve stem seals. The smoking mostly happens after long engine idle or high rev. It has to do with high vacuum causing more oil to pass through worn out valve stem seals. The longer the idle the bigger the smoke. These seals are just N500 but to replace it is a nightmare.

To fix, there are 2 ways, the traditional kazeem way or the YouTube way which most Kazeems will not accept to do.

The traditional way involves removing the entire cylinder head and valves.

The YouTube way is actually very simpler but mechanics find it very stressful. I called it the YouTube method because that's where I saw it done and all the mechanics I contacted for the method refused. Except my young experimental mechanic who always agrees to my instructions just to learn new tricks I always teach him. I attempted DIY but one M10 bolt I rounded defeated me.

The method involves removing the timing belt/chain, camshaft and valve spring. This gives you access essentially but it's still complicated. Removing valve springs will cause the valve to fall into the cylinder bore, to prevent that, a nylon rope is passed through the sparkplug hole while that piston is at bottom dead center. The rope must fill the cylinder bore and then engine rotated to compress the rope and prevent the valves from moving. In this case, only 1 cylinder can be worked on at a time so this is cumbersome for the mechanic. Anyways, I did it successfully and my car stopped smoking.

The essence of doing this is to avoid removing the head cylinder since mine is still factory fitted. I have seen many engines die after head cylinder removal job and I didn't want the risk of creating a new problem if head is removed. If your cylinder head has been removed before, don't sweat it, just go traditional.

Hmmm, you seem to have the idea. Mine happens only when i accelerate. All these plenty idea u gave now is useful. But I want to sell the car. I don tire, as a first time user, its frustrating already. If the person that will buy it will have ur idea, it will go a long way. Na buyer i de find now


I have gone to mechanic today, told him about PCV, injector, coolant, hydraulic dropping on exhaust, he checked all and told me, na rings.

I didn't know of this valve stem seals... I will ask him again sha, while i look for buyer of the car.

You can place an advert on the car or if lucky you can get an end user who can buy the car from you but in that condition be ready to negotiate reasonably with the buyer and you might be lucky.

However, your best best is to sell it fast to avoid story that touches, infact if you settle to buy a new engine, calculate the cost for a new engine and workmanship and other side fix you understand what I mean.

I checked on jiji, most tiny light are 900k and to 1.2m Nigerian used... And there is no guarantee d engine is perfect.

I am thus considering to ring it if eventually it is the cause and use till December, save money and put in 600k to buy engine and gear, then paint the car. I think i will be more sure that its good.

I have spent over 200k fixing shaft, bearing, rack.. Not knowing engine may be bad.

I hope 500k will give me engine and gearbox anyway.

It goes for 10k and download car scanner on Google play store you can scan your car for free .. then you can Google the result and learn more about the problem before going to the mechanic to fix it with the direction you learnt online .. but from my experience if the smoke is whitish then it is a leaking coolant to your exhaust .. if it is blueish in colour then your injectors are failing and your car is pumping much fuel than required into the cylinder so you need to change all your injector , if it is blackish smoke then your piston rings are bad you need to get a good mechanic to replace that for you .. just get the scanner and scan it first then paste the result first.. I am not a mechanic but I like buying cars with engine problems and low mileage then fix it by using mechanic and my scanner to resale for a good price

Basically, just use oil treatment until you have money for a rebuild. New rings, gasket, metal, oil pump, and you should be alright.

Does it last? If ringed. I keep hearing only for 6 months. How can one get original rings.?

This doesn't need too much questions and answers, the thing is to enjoy that car foe as long as you can use, be getting ready to buy a new engine or sell the car fast.

I jus sold a car with a similar problem in fact at a cheaper price, it engine is getting weak and ringed more than once, don't mind those mechanics, they know your engine is getting bad but won't tell you the truth so that they can keep milking you for money.

The truth is that, it is better he buys a new engine rather than trying to ring it and also pad the gaskets and the rest, I ringed my car 4 different times, while my mechanic was milking me on a regular saying it will return to normality when all that is done which turned to be a fat lie.

In fact, the smoke at a time became annoying to me, until last year that I bought a new engine then boom � I'm doing zoom zoom at ease on a good day.

I also heard if you put new engine, the gear may fail if weak already or the new engine may over power it

Once happened to me, very important information, most of the oil we use are not the proper recommended Oil for our car engine, this really affects the Engine,was recently a learned Guy told me to Check what is written on the cover of our Engine, the figure written there is the recommended Oil to use, not knowing that all the while i have been using a cheap oil of #10,500 (Mobil super 1000 20w 50) instead of ( Mobil 1 #30,500 5w 20 ).
The difference is clear Nah, not knowing i was Killn My Engine.

My engine cover don't have this number... I think its not follow come engine

You made valid points... The smoke is blueish or sky blue... I will also ask the mechanic to check injectors...

For scanner, not sure it will work, na old car, even my dashboard isn't showing the lights. Doesn't read well.

So far, i have understood somethings here, so i will ask him to check the PCV, the selvo, hydraulic container, coolant.

Before they thought of rings and piston. That should be the last not the first.

Not a fault if it stop gradually, car smoke at start up seems to be normal, you can check Google for more.

It doesn't happen when I start engine, rather when ibhave driven fro awhile, it pops out and within a minute, stops and after another long minutes, up to 5, it happens again. Sometimes, up to 15 mins, no smoke

Also there are so many fake people engine oils in the market which causes gradual wear and tear of the engine so you’d need to be careful when buying engine oil.

I don't know the recommended oil... I have looked at the engine cover, its not written there. I suspect also the engine is tokunbo not follow come.
