PoliticsAPC Leaders, Tinubu Support Groups Demand Sack Of Wike At Abuja Rally by miracle002(op): 9:14am On Jan 08
Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), under the umbrella of the APC Leaders Forum (ALF) and the Tinubu/Shettima Solidarity Movement (TSSM), on Wednesday staged a rally in Abuja, calling for the immediate removal of Nyesom Wike as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) over alleged insubordination, attacks on party leadership and threats to national unity.

The groups made the demand in an open letter and press statement addressed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and routed through the National Chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda.

Addressing journalists during the peaceful rally, the APC leaders said their action was driven by “deep concern for the stability of the APC, the security of our nation, and the sanctity of democratic principles.”

They declared: “We have scheduled a rally today, this is a peaceful assembly of loyal party faithful, dedicated to upholding the integrity of our great party and your visionary leadership.”

The groups, who described themselves as steadfast supporters of President Tinubu and the Renewed Hope Agenda, said they could no longer remain silent over what they termed “egregious misconduct” by the FCT minister.

According to the statement, “Wike’s actions represent a brazen assault on the APC’s leadership, a direct threat to your authority as President, and a dangerous incitement that could destabilize Rivers State and the entire Niger Delta region. We demand his immediate sack to preserve party unity, protect our elected officials, and safeguard national peace.”

*Alleged Attacks on APC Leadership*

The rally leaders accused Wike of launching “vicious, unprovoked attacks” on the APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, despite not being a registered member of the ruling party.

They recalled Wike’s comments during his January 5, 2026, “thank-you tour” of Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State, where he allegedly accused Basiru of meddling in Rivers politics for personal gain and eyeing the state’s resources.

Quoting Wike, the statement said he warned that anyone interfering in Rivers politics would “get their fingers burnt.”

The APC groups described the remark as “not only an insult to Basiru’s integrity but a direct affront to the entire APC National Working Committee,” adding that it undermined the authority of the party’s national leadership.

*Rivers Crisis and Governor Fubara*

The groups also accused the FCT minister of persistently attacking Governor Siminalayi Fubara, describing his actions as “political sabotage.”

They alleged that Wike had mocked the governor’s leadership, called his emergence a “mistake,” and vowed it would be corrected in 2027.

According to the statement, “As a serving minister in an APC-led government, Wike’s actions amount to anti-party activities that weaken our hold on Rivers State—a key battleground for the APC’s future electoral success.”

*Threat to National Authority*

The APC leaders further expressed alarm over Wike’s alleged statement that “nobody can enter Rivers State,” which they described as a direct challenge to President Tinubu’s authority as Commander-in-Chief.

They warned that declaring Rivers a “no-go area” was “a dangerous provocation that could incite violence, reminiscent of past Niger Delta crises.”

The statement added: “Wike’s words are a direct attack on your presidency, suggesting he views himself above the law and the APC’s hierarchy.”

*Threat of Nationwide Protests*

The groups warned that protests would continue across the country until Wike is removed from office.

“Be informed that we shall proceed with this rally not only at the National Secretariat but across the length and breadth of this country—state by state, local government by local government—until Nyesom Wike is relieved of his appointment as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory,” they declared.

They said the action was in defence of the party, President Tinubu’s leadership and Nigeria’s unity.

Call for Swift Action

The APC Leaders Forum and TSSM said the rally was also held in solidarity with Governor Fubara, Senator Basiru and APC National Chairman, Prof. Yilwatda.

They urged President Tinubu to act decisively, stating: “Sack Wike immediately to send a clear message that no individual is bigger than the party or the nation.”

The statement was jointly signed by Chief Dr. Emeka Okoro, Dr. Adekunle Balogun, Alhaji Ibrahim Yusuf and Mallam Abdulkareem Isiaka, who reaffirmed their loyalty to President Tinubu and commitment to mobilising support for the Renewed Hope Agenda.

PoliticsMore Trouble For Wike As Another APC Chieftain Backs Fubara by miracle002(op): 4:25pm On Jan 07
The Emeka Bekee led All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State has declared Governor Siminalayi Fubara as the leader of the party in the state, insisting that the position is clearly stated in the party’s constitution.

Bekee made the assertion on Wednesday, while speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show, amid ongoing political tensions involving the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

According to him, once a sitting governor joins the APC, he automatically becomes the leader of the party in his state, stressing that the position is not subject to debate.

He said Governor Fubara, having joined the APC, is the party’s number one member in Rivers State.

He further explained that leadership positions within the APC follow a clear hierarchy, noting that President Bola Tinubu is the leader of the party at the national level, while governors who are party members lead the APC in their respective states.

He said: “First and foremost, as soon as the governor joins the party, he becomes a leader of the party. That is no contest. You have heard the national chairman. You have heard the national secretary say it loud and clear, the governor is leader of the party in the state. Because he has joined the party he’s is 001 of the APC River State. If by divine grace of God, tomorrow, the Minister of FCT decides to join APC, he’s the leader in his own capacity as a member of All Progressives Congress.

But right now, he’s not a leader. He’s not a member of APC. He still remains, he has said it loud and clear, he still remain member of PDP.

“According to the constitution of the APC, when a sitting governor is a member of the party, he or she automatically becomes the leader of the party in the state. There is no contesting the fact that Governor Siminalayi Fubara is the current leader of the APC.

“When it comes to APC, the governor is the leader of the party. Nobody is contesting that at all. Mr President is the leader of the party in Nigeria. Nobody is contesting that at all with him. The national chairman is not contesting that position with the president. The governor of is the leader of the party in the state, and as long as the Governor of Rivers State has joined APC, he’s the leader of the party in Rivers state.

“Yes, I wasn’t part of the discussion they had in Abuja. I don’t know what discussion is all about, but I think along the line, the FCT minister was the one that nominated all the local government chairmen in the state. There’s nothing wrong if he goes around to go and see those people that, you know, he worked with to produce them as local men, to thank them. I think that is what he’s doing. And I can say loud and clear, most of them are not members of APC. They are from PDP. They just jump into the party together. But I don’t want to discuss that fact.

“The true position where we are is that the Governor of the River State is the leader of the party in Rivers state. Nobody’s contesting that with him.”

PoliticsPDP Heavyweights Set To Dump Party For ADC As Faction Meets With Jonatha by miracle002(op): 10:35am On Jan 07
A report has indicated that several chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) plan on defecting to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Multiple sources who spoke to The Whistler disclosed that negotiations with the ADC leadership had reached an advanced stage, with formal announcements expected in the coming days.

The planned defections are said to involve prominent party stakeholders from across several states, who have lost faith in the PDP.

A senior PDP figure familiar with the talks said many of those considering the move believe the ADC offers “a more stable and ideologically coherent platform” to pursue their political ambitions.

“There is growing frustration. Many leaders feel the PDP has not shown the capacity to resolve its internal crises, and they are exploring alternatives,” the source said.

This is coming just as a faction of the party’s leadership, led by a former minister, Kabiru Turaki, met with former President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday behind closed doors.

Details of the meeting, held at the former president’s Maitama, Abuja home, could not be immediately ascertained as at press time.

It could also not be established whether or not the meeting with Jonathan had anything to do with the alleged defection plans.

The Turaki-led faction is loyal to the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, while the other faction, chaired by Abdulrahman Mohammed, is loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

On its part, the ADC has intensified efforts to position itself as a credible alternative, holding a series of closed-door meetings with political heavyweights and disaffected members of other parties.

Party officials say the ADC is focused on strengthening its national structure and expanding its footprint ahead of upcoming elections.

An ADC national officer, who spoke to the aforementioned publication, confirmed ongoing discussions with politicians from the PDP and other parties, but said the party would only admit defectors who align with its principles.

“We are open to partnerships, but we are also committed to discipline and internal democracy,” the official said.

Reacting to the reports, the PDP leadership played down the possibility of mass defections, insisting the party remains viable despite its challenges.

A party source who still believes the PDP can overcome its leadership challenges said the party was taking steps to address grievances and urged members to remain loyal.

PoliticsRivers Crisis: Wike Breaks Silence, Names Top Politicians Behind The Agreement by miracle002(op): 7:50am On Jan 07
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has spoken publicly on the political crisis rocking Rivers State and the failed peace move between him and Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Wike disclosed that the controversial agreement reached with Governor Fubara was not a private arrangement.

He said it was formally endorsed by top national figures under the supervision of President Bola Tinubu.

The former Rivers governor revealed that senior government officials and respected political leaders were present when the agreement was signed.

He said their involvement showed that the deal was meant to restore peace and political stability in the state.

Wike made the remarks during a political gathering in Ogu-Bolo Local Government Area of Rivers State. He addressed supporters and party loyalists, where he spoke extensively on events that led to the prolonged crisis.

According to him, the meeting with President Tinubu produced a clear understanding accepted by all parties involved.

He stated that the agreement later collapsed after Governor Fubara returned to Rivers State and began receiving different advice from unnamed political actors.

“There was a time we met with Mr President and everyone signed the agreement. Even the NSA, Nuhu Ribadu, signed. Peter Odili also signed,” Wike said.

He explained that the breakdown of trust happened shortly after the meeting. He alleged that Governor Fubara was persuaded to abandon the agreement under the excuse that it was purely political.

“But after they returned home, some people began to mislead the young man, telling him it was political and that he should not follow through. That was how the crisis dragged on and ended up in court, where we won clearly.”

Wike stated that the legal victory did not end the matter. He said President Tinubu again stepped in to prevent further damage to governance and political harmony in Rivers State.

He revealed that several governors, ministers, and senior lawyers reached out to him. They appealed for a fresh attempt at peace. He admitted he was initially reluctant due to previous experiences with broken agreements.

“They assured me it would be different this time. After several meetings with Governor Fubara, we reached a new agreement and presented it again before Mr President. Everyone committed to implementing it.”

The FCT minister also used the occasion to criticise the Peoples Democratic Party. He said the party had controlled Rivers State for years but lost its dominance during the 2023 general elections.

Wike claimed that the All Progressives Congress made significant inroads in the state after he and his political allies supported President Tinubu. He alleged that the PDP performed poorly at the polls.

He insisted that the opposition party failed to secure up to 10 per cent of the total votes cast in Rivers State during the presidential election.

Politics'We May Ask The President To Choose Between Us And Wike’ – APC NWC Member by miracle002(op): 9:32am On Jan 06
Tensions within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have escalated as senior party leaders have issued a stern warning to President Bola Tinubu over the conduct of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, in Rivers State.

Amid renewed hostilities between Wike and his successor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, APC leaders say Wike’s political manoeuvres are endangering party cohesion and could force a showdown with the Presidency.

A member of the APC National Working Committee (NWC), speaking anonymously to The Guardian, said the party may soon demand that President Tinubu make a choice between the party and the FCT minister.

“We may ask the President to choose between us and his FCT minister if Wike continues to behave as if only he can serve the political interests of the President in Rivers State or any other state for that matter. He is not a member of this party,” the source said.

This latest warning follows Wike’s declaration that Governor Fubara would not return for a second term in 2027, a statement that has sparked outrage among APC loyalists, especially in Rivers State.

Party strategists argue that the APC cannot afford to let Wike, a minister not formally registered with the party, sabotage the President’s interests in the oil-rich state ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Olafeso: Wike Now Isolated In APC

Former PDP National Vice Chairman (South-West), Eddy Olafeso, described Wike’s current political situation as a consequence of being outpaced by Fubara, who he said swiftly aligned with the APC before his former boss could.

Speaking in an interview with The Guardian, Olafeso said Wike is probably the most unfortunate politician in the history of Nigeria’s Fourth Republic.

He said the Rivers State governor played politics faster than the minister by joining the APC, leaving his former boss in the cold.

Olafeso also said APC stalwarts have shown Wike the way out by making it clear that Fubara would be recognised as the leader of their party in Rivers, before Wike resolved to defect to the APC.

“Some of them are even calling for his removal as minister,” he revealed.

Ofunaofu:
Trump has caged you, wants to remove you from office’ – Primate Ayodele warns Tinubu

The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has warned President Bola Tinubu that US President Donald Trump is plotting to remove him from office.

In a statement signed by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Primate Ayodele made it known that the US President has ‘caged’ Tinubu and his plan is to ultimately see that he is removed from office.

He stated that the support the US is giving Nigeria to fight insecurity is only to find ways to penetrate the government.

“Trump is adamant to remove President Tinubu. America will be part of those who will be against Tinubu. You may not see it as I am being shown, and that’s why I am saying Trump is after removing Tinubu, that’s it and nothing more,” the cleric said.

The prophet alleged that the ulterior motive of the US President is not about ending insecurity in Nigeria.

“Nigeria will still continue to fight insecurity, but either they fight it or not, Trump is focused on removing Tinubu from office, but he doesn’t know it yet.

“He isn’t after ending insecurity in the country, he knows what he wants and won’t stop at nothing towards achieving it.”

He urged Tinubu to take a bold political step to overcome the plans of the US President, warning that otherwise, Trump will end up succeeding with his plans.

“Tinubu must take a very bold step to overcome the plans of Trump, because he has caged him already.

“Tinubu must not relent his efforts and bring up strategies for him to succeed otherwise, he would be at the losing end while his defeat would be celebrated.”

PoliticsEight Federal Lawmakers Set To Join ADC After Peter Obi’s Defection by miracle002(op):
The defection of Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has begun to strengthen the party’s presence in the south.

No fewer than eight federal lawmakers are reportedly set to formally defect to the ADC, barring any last-minute changes.

Obi joined the ADC in Enugu last week, calling on Nigerians and opposition groups to unite under a broad coalition to rescue the country from poverty, disunity and democratic decline.

Explaining his decision, Obi said his defection was guided by patriotism and national interest.

His words: “This decision is guided solely by patriotism and national interest. I now respectfully call on my political associates, the Obidient Movement and opposition leaders across the country to join this broad national coalition under the African Democratic Congress. History will not forgive silence in moments of national peril,” he said.

In a post on X, Obi said three serving senators and several members of the House of Representatives were present at his defection ceremony.

“Notable senators present included Enyinnaya Abaribe, Victor Umeh, Tony Nwoye, and Gilbert Nnaji,” he said.

Obi said other political figures and members of the National and State Sssemblies also attended the event.

During the ceremony, organisers announced that eight federal lawmakers, including three serving senators, had collectively defected to the ADC.

The remaining five lawmakers are members of the House of Representatives from Anambra state. They include Afamefuna Ogene, Oby Orogbu, Harris Okonkwo, Emeka Godwin and George Ozodinobi.

However, the defections are yet to be formally announced on the floor of both chambers of the National Assembly.

Terrorists on Friday attacked commuters along the Danjibga–Kuncin Kalgo road in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, burning two vehicles and abducting all passengers on board.

Reports indicate that the assailants blocked the road before launching the attack.

The terrorists reportedly set the two vehicles ablaze after seizing their occupants, whose whereabouts remain unknown as of Saturday.

A security alert platform, Bakatsine, confirmed the incident on Saturday, noting that the attack once again highlights the persistent insecurity on major roads across Zamfara State.

Days after a deadly Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion claimed at least eight lives, Nigerian security forces had cleared the Gusau–Magami–Dansadau Road in Zamfara State and declared the highway safe for public use.

The clearance followed an emergency joint operation launched after the December 27 IED blast along the Magami–Dansadau axis, which also led to property destruction and sparked widespread panic among residents and travellers.

Acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police in Zamfara State, Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, specialised Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams were immediately deployed to comb the highway amid fears that more explosives may have been planted along the strategic route.

The operation brought together Police EOD units, Military EOD operatives, and the Joint Task Force under Operation Fansa-Yamma.

The sweep was conducted with armed security providing cover throughout the exercise.

Christianity EtcWhat Does The Bible Say About Christian Tithing? by miracle002(op): 8:28am On Dec 28, 2025
Many Christians struggle with the issue of tithing. In some churches giving is over-emphasized; in others it is rarely mentioned, and believers may be unaware of the biblical exhortations about the joy of giving. The actual “tithe” is an Old Testament command to Israel, but giving to support the work of ministry, as well as giving to those in need, is generally part of the good stewardship that God expects of each of us.

Tithing is an Old Testament concept. The tithe (or tenth) was a requirement of the law in which the Israelites were to give 10 percent of the crops they grew and the livestock they raised to the tabernacle/temple (Leviticus 27:30; Numbers 18:26; Deuteronomy 14:24; 2 Chronicles 31:5). The Old Testament law required Israelites to tithe at different times and for various purposes—to support the Levites (Numbers 18:21, 24), to celebrate the feasts (Deuteronomy 14:22–27), and to care for the poor of the land (Deuteronomy 14:28–29). Some understand the Old Testament tithe as a method of taxation to provide for the needs of the priests and Levites.

Jesus Christ fulfilled the Mosaic Law. The shadow of the ceremonial system was completed in Him. The temple was no longer needed for worship. Instead, “the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth” (John 4:23). Collectively, all who put their faith in Christ make up the church, which was instituted after Jesus’ ascension. The church is both global and uniquely expressed in local gatherings of believers.

As part of the Mosaic Law, the tithe ended with the fulfilling of the law. New Testament believers are not mandated to give 10 percent, but we are still called to financially participate in the work of the church and to care for those who spiritually care for us. First Corinthians 9:13–14 explains, “Don’t you know that those who serve in the temple get their food from the temple, and that those who serve at the altar share in what is offered on the altar? In the same way, the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should receive their living from the gospel.” First Timothy 5:17–18 says, “The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching. For Scripture says, ‘Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain,’ and ‘The worker deserves his wages.’” Our giving is also intended to support the work of missions (Philippians 4:10–19) and help those in need (2 Corinthians 8; 1 Timothy 5:3).

The New Testament nowhere designates a percentage of income a person should give. Christians are not obligated to give a 10-percent tithe. But Scripture does encourage believers to regularly set aside money to give “in keeping with income” (1 Corinthians 16:2; cf. 2 Corinthians 8:12). God promises His blessing on the giver: “Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:6–7). Some Christians consider the 10 percent figure from the Old Testament tithe as a “recommended minimum” for their giving.

Although the tithe is not obligatory for the Christian, the New Testament emphasizes the importance and benefits of freewill giving. We are to give as we are able. Sometimes that means giving more than 10 percent; sometimes that may mean giving less. It depends on the ability of the Christian and the needs of the body of Christ. Every Christian should diligently pray and seek God’s wisdom in the matter of giving (see James 1:5). However much we give, we should offer it with pure motives, a cheerful heart, and an attitude of worship.

Obi joining ADC won't make any different because he would likely be vicing Atiku in 2027. Him doing that, he should forget about SW, SS and NC votes
Look at what you are saying. Imagine Two Political heavyweights merging together as President and vice President. What an irresistible force.

Mrfixitt:
The right thing is for Atiku to support Peter Obi and wait for the turn of the north. If that is done, Tinubu will be booted out of power in the next election
That is the truth. If Atiku should support Obi, Peter Obi will win the election before 12 noon election day.

If Atiku supports Obi, it means North and South South together with South East against South West. Some of the south westerns are not even happy with Tinubu

If Obi finally defects to ADC, Tinubu should just prepare his hand over note ahead of 2027. It is over for Tinubu and Apc

A former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, is set to formally join the African Democratic Congress amid ongoing consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections.

A principal official of the party in Abuja told Sunday PUNCH that Obi had concluded plans to join the party and hold a declaration rally in Enugu, the political capital of the South-East, on December 31.

According to the official, Obi’s supporters and loyalists have begun arrangements for the defection.

The source disclosed that Obi, after the ADC asked him to make up his mind on joining the party about three weeks ago, met with the National Chairman of the party, David Mark, to renew his allegiance to the coalition.

He said the party’s position might have convinced the former Anambra State governor to finally decide to join the ADC.

On December 7, the ADC, while reacting to a statement credited to Obi in which he described the party as unstable, told the presidential hopeful to make up his mind on whether or not to join the coalition.

Speaking with Sunday PUNCH, the party source said, “We are aware that Peter Obi is making plans to declare for the ADC on December 31 in Enugu. Although he has yet to formally inform the party, the plans are genuine.”

Asked why Obi would prefer to declare for the coalition in Enugu instead of Anambra, his home state, the party official said, “Enugu is the political capital of the South-East. Obi is representing the region, not just his state. That must have informed his decision.”

But the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said he could not confirm Obi’s planned defection.

“The point is that there is no official announcement yet. But consultations are ongoing,” he said.

Similarly, the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, Dr Yunusa Tanko, declined to comment directly on the matter, insisting that only Obi could speak on it.

But the Julius Abure-led National Working Committee of the Labour Party has downplayed Obi’s planned defection.

The National Publicity Secretary of the LP, Obiora Ifoh, in an interview with Sunday PUNCH, said the party would refrain from making any definitive pronouncement on the matter until Obi personally speaks on it.

He said, “We cannot fully comment on that until we hear from Obi. As we normally say, anybody can defect from anywhere to anywhere. It is normal in Nigerian politics. Labour Party doesn’t see it as a big deal.”

According to Ifoh, any decision by Obi to leave the party would be driven by personal ambition rather than institutional failure, adding that the Labour Party would continue to thrive regardless.

While reiterating that the party harboured no ill feelings, the LP spokesman said it would have been preferable for Obi to remain within the fold and work through any disagreements internally.

He said, “But the wisest thing for him to do is to stay back and work with the party that gave him the spread he got in 2023. He should try to reconcile with the party leadership and move on from there. But if he prefers to jump from one party to another, we wish him all the best.”

ADC plans convention to pick presidential candidate
Meanwhile, the ADC will hold its national convention mid-2026 as part of broader efforts to reposition the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party spokesman, Abdullahi, who disclosed this to one of our correspondents on Saturday, said the party was currently focused on nationwide mobilisation, membership expansion and internal consolidation.

He said the immediate priority of the party was to build a “solid organisational framework” across the country, stressing that ongoing membership registration would form the foundation for future congresses and conventions.

He explained that 2026 would be a defining year for the party, particularly as preparations for the selection of a presidential candidate would significantly alter the political landscape and energise party activities nationwide.

He said, “Don’t forget that by June or July, at the latest, we must have a presidential candidate. That will also add to the momentum and redraw the political dynamic.

“Once a presidential candidate emerges and you see people also coming up to contest the governorship election, it will change the momentum,” he stated.

According to him, the current pace of political activity within the party should not be mistaken for a lack of preparedness, as election-year dynamics typically trigger heightened engagement.

On whether a specific date had been fixed for the ADC’s national convention, Abdullahi said discussions were ongoing but clarified that the party planned to hold two conventions in 2026.

“We will have the first convention to ratify the decisions that the NEC has taken this year. We will have another one to decide our next presidential candidate. That will come towards the middle of the year. But I cannot give you a definite date for now,” he said.
