Think4Myself:Oh cool! How far have you gone with everything? |
Think4Myself:You learned Java first! May I ask why? |
Hey D! So today, the ogas at the top ordered that we stay at home today. Although I'm glad about the free day, but I'm concerned about persons who'd have to go out to work before they can eat, I just hope the whole thing ends real soon. Anyways, I learnt some new stuff this morning, they include: 1. How to import custom fonts. 2. The different font formats. 3. The different font properties such as size, display, stretch, variant, e.t.c. 4. The letter spacing, whitespace, and line-height properties. 5. Text decoration and shadow. 6. Font shorthand for adding multiple properties. With these, I concluded the module on texts and font styling. Next is flexbox, I've heard a lot about this and I can't wait to start the module later today. ![]() I'll see ya D! |
Dear Diary, I started a new module on styling texts and fonts, and it's been interesting. I've learnt the following: 1. Intro to generic families and font families. 2. Different ways to add a font family to a webpage. 3. The font family syntax. 4. How to use Google fonts. 5. How to work with font face and weight. Later D! |
Hey D! Work has been hectic recently, but the good news is that my annual leave would be starting real soon and it'd be for one month. My target around that time would be 5hrs minimum daily for studying and practicing. I still learned some new stuff though, they include:1. The not pseudo class. 2. The checked pseudo class. 3. Validation feedback for forms. 4. The invalid pseudo selector. 5. How to style forms in general. Tomorrow D! |
It's another Monday D! I actually started a challenge on frontend-mentors, to put my knowledge of html and css thus far to test. I actually finished it and I'd have loved to upload it on codepen, but it seems I'll need a pro account so I'd be able to upload pics on codepen. ![]() The project requires knowledge of css flexbox, but I maneuvered my way using basic css. I'll be delving into CSS grids and flexbox before this week ends though. So far so good D! I'll see ya later today. |
Joesno: I can't come and kill myself oo. We'll be fine las las ![]() |
EricBraven:Great! I'll send ya an email when I'm ready. |
EricBraven: ![]() I know that feeling, I literally had headaches at some point. ![]() I'll be done with CSS real soon though, we could be JavaScript study mates if you don't mind. |
Hey guys, I need your help. What kind of questions did dragnet set for the screening stage? |
Hey Diary! So, I've been looking at webpage responsiveness, that is to make our webpage look good on different devices. I learned some new stuff today: 1. How to add media queries. 2. How to get the breakpoints. 3. Importance of designing our page mobile-first. 4. How to manipulate the styles using min-width, min-height, and max-width. See ya! |
I'm back D.. I know I'm a lil bit early, I kinda ended tonight's learning section early as my head could no longer take in the new terms and explanations. I'll continue tomorrow abeg. This thing isn't easy oo, but I definitely know it'd be worth it in the end.I started a new module btw and it's all about website responsiveness. I learned some new stuff and they include: 1. Difference between hardware pixels and software pixels. 2. Difference between HTML meta viewport and CSS media queries. Lemme catch some sleep, see ya! |
Hey D! I started a new module today and it contains a brief intro to JavaScript and man! JavaScript isn't childsplay I must confess, but I'll be fine though. ![]() I learned the following: 1. How to add a backdrop. 2. How to add a modal. 3. How to link a JavaScript file to the HTML file. 4. How to access any property, element or attribute in our html file and override its value using JavaScript. 5. How to add an event listener to our JavaScript file. The whole JavaScript concept got me lost at some point, I've had to watch the videos several times, I guess I'll need to dwell on them for a while.Later D. |
DrOladipo:Done boss.. I got the guide, I'm all pumped up. |
de3lar:That'd be amazing boss |

Great! Thanks boss |
DrOladipo:How do I get this? |
All4good:Thanks boss. Meaning for a situation like this I'll have to make sure I write my code in a manner that's compatible with different browsers and in this case (background), I'll have to spell everything out individually right? |

Welcome back OP |
Yay! It's Friday D! I actually learned about some units applicable to CSS today, their peculiarities and why they should(n't) be used. They include: 1. px 2. % 3. em 4. rem 5. vh 6. vw 7. vmin 8. vmax We're making progress D! Cheers to consistency. ![]() |
It's another day D! I finished another module today, and its contents include: 1. How to style images and image layout. 2. Gradient - Linear and radial. 3. How to stack multiple backgrounds. 4. Filters - greyscale, blur, e.t.c. 5. Adding and styling SVGs. I encountered a browser compatibility issue today, I actually tried using shorthand for the background property with different attributes, it didn't work on Microsoft edge which I have been using since I started this journey, but it worked on Google chrome. I ain't touching Microsoft Edge ever.. ![]() Later D! |
Diaaaarrrryyyy! I learned some new stuff today about background images: 1. Background size property - cover, contain.. 2. Background position - center and others. 3. Background position - no-repeat. 4. Background clip - border-box. 5. Background origin - border-box. 6. Background attachment - scroll, fixed or local. Later D! |
Arise and shine D! Today we're obeying the sit-at-home order here (although they said they've called it off.. nobody trust anybody like this, na who dey alive dey work ), meaning no work. ![]() I learned some stuff this morning: 1. Similarities between the fixed and absolute position values. 2. The Relative value for the position property. 3. Use of the overflow property and it's value - hidden. 4. Stacking context as using the z-index in combination with position property. 5. The caniuse site to check the browser support for the different properties and values. |

Nice.. don't be a coconut headed person oo ![]() |
KushLyon:Thanks Lyon. Indeed combining programming with something else that requires lots of attention isn't easy at all, but we'll be fine at long last. ![]() Thanks for the frontend mentors suggestion, I checked them out already, the newbie project preview looks great. I'd definitely do that once I'm done with the CSS course. I've already downloaded some html and css projects from YouTube, I'm going to get my hands dirty real soon. ![]() A quick question, was the bootstrap course a standalone course or it's part of another course you downloaded? |
KushLyon:Lots of persons no know say free materials like these dey available online oo |
Jack273:Anytime Sir. |
My tech D! ![]() I am here again. ![]() I got to learn about: 1. How to add a background image to a webpage. 2. The position property whose default value is static, but can have other values like fixed, absolute, relative e.t.c. 3. The z-index property and it's importance. Maximilian Schwarz is good meeeehhhnnn! ![]() |
Jack273:I know that feeling, here's the link to the rar files for the CSS course.https://downloadly.net/2020/16/5874/03/udemy-css-the-complete-guide-incl-flexbox-grid-sass/23/?#/5874-udemy-102113082420.html |
lordally:@bolded, you're right! I'm not even halfway through the CSS course yet but my confidence level is high already. I believe this is the best path to follow for anyone who's open to self learning. |
Hey D! I'm back. ![]() So, I was able to download the complete files and that's exciting, especially after wasting lots of data prior. ![]() I learned some new stuff last night: 1. How to make the edges of an image a perfect circle using the border-radius property, and adjusting both the width and height of the image. 2. How to use the float property - used basically for positioning image in texts. 3. Clear property (used this in line with the float property. 4. id selectors have a higher specificity than class and pseudo selectors. 5. The !important - this basically overrides specificity and using it isn't advisable. I'll see ya later D! |
Hey D! Downloading the torrent files has proved to be a lil bit difficult, the files tend to stop downloading at 90+% and most of the videos end up not playing. I've wasted data oo. I discovered that the torrent downloader automatically seeds the files around the 90+% stage which brings downloading to a halt. I just found another site where I'd download the rar files for the course instead of torrent.. this should work. Later D! |
