HornyTave: Cassava farming is the hot cake right now. a basin is currently 15k in my location ( Benin ), I did like 4 acres this year before leaving for Lagos. lol. by next year I plan on doing 8 to 10 acres. to my experience, the best time to plant cassava is after August break, you won't clear much And cassava is much resistant to drought. if you like big tubers, give enough space in your farm, if you like tiny tiny tubers, plant closely. the stress in cassava is the processing lol. that shit should be done by prisoners but hey, I'm a prisoner of money so I'll do it. lol. nice harvest man, on paper it's easy, na who don go know wetn he see. Hey bro, can I send you a mail? |

ekerensima: was born into it, suffered back pain from weeding it, my bro I u need two things, experience and capital. Cassava luckily is a low maintenance crop (keep the weeds out, add fertilizer if need be and it good to go) I'll be planting it with corn this August reason being dat egusi will hinder my weeding which is a combination of chemical and manual(ring weeding)(I planted corn and egusi and had to spray through it with glyphosphate while weeding the corn) Thanks buddy. Financing the project wouldn't be a problem, experience right now is the main deal. Besides, I need help with with the following questions and your reply would be really helpful. 1. What's the best time to plant Cassava and Egusi respectively? 2. How much would it cost roughly to plant Cassava and Egusi on an hectare of land? |

Agriculture › Help Me Learn About Cassava Farming by MirthOsas(op): 1:01pm On Jul 18, 2021 |
Greetings everyone.
I am Osas, an Electrical Engineer and an agric enthusiast. I fell in love with agriculture when I visited my grandma after my JSCE some years back especially after finding out the potentials of Cassava and Egusi farming.
I would really like to venture into Cassava and Egusi farming as I am already saving towards that. The major issue now is I lack experience.
I currently work in Enugu, but I would love the farm to be situated in my village in Edo state because of the fertile and arable lands.
I have searched the internet for knowledge on a total breakdown of how to go into Cassava and Egusi farming, but all to no avail. I am willing to learn and a means to get practical expert would be appreciated.
I'm looking forward to two years from now to start the farming adventure. Pros in the house, your inputs would be highly appreciated. |

Kokaine: I got a trainer already. You can join us. Got him from nairaland here.
The YouTube videos... I have very many. They are not tailored to our needs here in Nigeria. Like you don't really need knowledge of PLCs to wire a house and draw load plan. Secondly its very difficult to follow an Indian video because of the accent That'd be amazing. How do I join please? |

Kokaine: its cracked oh. I have the raw file but its almost 2gb. I would have uploaded it and sent you the link. Do you know AutoCAD electrical I want to learn too. I'm hoping to follow some vids on YouTube once I get the app |
Science/Technology › Re: Autocad Electrical Training Needed by MirthOsas(m): 10:31am On Jul 09, 2021 |
Kokaine: Rather than buy a udemy course on the above subject, I choose to engage a well grounded Nigerian electrical engineer to tutor me online on making electrical wiring drawing on AutoCAD as well as load balancing of course for a fee. The tutors are mostly Indians whose accent I find difficult to comprehend, or Americans who focus on aspects not within my interest zone like PLCs. I am embarking on this training to tailor the topics to my exact needs.
I have AutoCAD 2022 software installed already. Proficiency level is zero. (Even though I am competent in other electronics drafting softwares like labcenter Proteus).
My area of interest is making electrical wiring drawing, load balancing and any other aspect you may suggest in your expertise.
Chat me up and let's negotiate Please, how did you get the application? Been searching for how I'd download that of 2020. |

Hey Fam, reading through this thread has indeed motivated me to take my dream of becoming a Data Engineer seriously. Although I studied Electrical Engineering, I've always wanted to delve into IT which made me do some research and based on some factors, I settled for Data Engineering.
From research, I found a career learning path on Coursera regarding becoming a Data Engineer. Although I won't be getting certificates, I'll be able to Audit the courses. The courses includes specialization courses on SQL, Tablaeu, Excel, PowerPoint, Software development cycle, Python, R and GCP.
I'm hoping I'm on the right track. To the professionals, do I really need a certificate?
I'm also in need of a study buddy as I get to lose motivation easily, anyone interested could just quote me.
Thanks Fam |

PhilipGallagher: I don’t know if things have changed now. But You start as a YEP trainee for a year, then you become an Operations and Maintenance Officer (OMO) for close to two years max then you become an operations and maintenance supervisor (OMS). So in 3 years you should be at a supervisory level.
Pay increase might not be too significant. I say this relatively. But let’s say like >50k increase as you grow (don’t quote me on this as I am not 100% sure about the pay as you get promoted.) Thank you so much, this means a lot. |

PhilipGallagher: You all should check this thread
https://www.nairaland.com/2187430/ikeja-electric-electricity-sales-representatives/27
Read from page 28 or so. Basically expect about 3 interview stages, plus the aptitude test stage making it 4 stages. The final interview is usually with the C-suite guys. For your 1st interview expect some technical questions, nothing too difficult but know your basics. They might ask you funny questions like what is electricity. Know your normal HR questions too. Nothing too hard. A good number of people will scale through this stage. The 2nd stage is more with the HR guys and this is the crucial stage. Expect anything at this stage. Final stage is with the CEO and C-level executives. After this is medicals and hopefully offer letter. N.B some people still don't get offer leters even after passing medicals. Sometimes they waitlist people. So be prayerful.
Pay is good, opportunity to learn is good as well, prospect for growth is also good as a YEP. This is one of the best ways to enter IE unless you are coming straight from the parent coy.
Also check the previous Sahara GEP thread too for more insights. All the best Hello Sir Philip, I'm really sorry to bother you but I'd like to ask you questions regarding the Ikeja Electric. I'd like to know the rate of progression after one must have gotten in through the Young Engineers Programme. After how many years before one gets promoted? What's the salary like and increments too? |
