Choice! Cheating, like excessive drunking, lying, ill-manneredness, laziness etcera is a personal flaw. Unless that individual is willing to recognize that, that particular trait is his/her weakness and genuinely work towards being a better person in that aspect, change can never occur. How does choice come in? Place cheating on an imaginary scale and put his other attractive qualities on another and then, decide - Are the positive qualities strong enough to make up for his cheating nature? Can you live with it and its aftermath [now and/or in the future, favourable or unfavourable]? If Yes - Stay there and enjoy the loving side of him while it lasts. If No - Walk away. Then again, what's the guarantee that, the next man You'D meet isn't a cheat too - Worse still, a cheat and not even half as caring as the present man - ? What's the guarantee that he doesn't have a drinking prob - He probably may not be a cheat but a drunk and an abuser- ? Would you prefer a drunk to a cheat or a liar or an abuser? My point? They say everyone has (a) flaw(s) [I agree]. I think, all one has to do is settle with the person whose flaw(s) one thinks one can put up with. Assuming this man's name is 'A' - [one of] A's flaw(s) is cheating. Can you put up with this flaw - cheating- ? Or you'D rather walk away and find someone with a more acceptable [to you] flaw? You will not meet a Mr Perfect anywhere, you'll always, like now, have to choose to stay or leave. Choice! The ball is in your court. |

nkilirox:It's not so difficult to discern a bad belle criticism from an objective one. Miss Nkilirox, as a matter of sincerity, have you, before now, thought it is wrong for Olu to interpret the role of an Igwe? Have you ever thought he's been doing a poor job? My point? this is a trivial issue. . . . . . .So trivial that it doesn't even come to mind until someone mentions it. So far, Olu has not be found incapable. Justuce Esiri has played an Igwe. Is he Igbo? Why didn't Pete use him as an example? There are so many Igbos in the industry - Chinwetalu Agwu and others - Why do these directors not give them the role, instead of Olu? Pete knows what's bugging him and to be honest, it's evident in his words. |
dayokanu:Yes! ![]() |

radeniran:Nice One! Good example, inferred from Pete's comment. If Pete reads this, he will swallow his comment in a hurry. |
Pete's statement What are the draw backs of the movie industry as it is presently constituted? MyJoe:It's okay to disagree with my opinion. ![]() Like I earlier stated, Pete seems to me, a Tribal chauvinist. Not to mention that his comment suggests, of course to me, that he probably has a personal beef with Olu. To the best of my knowledge, Olu interprets the Igwe role very well. Nollywood has so many flaws, and to be forthright, the interpretation of the Igwe role by a non-Igbo, esp. when the individual interprets the role very well, should be the last on the list. Obviously, Mr- know-it-all doesn't think so. ''What are the draw backs of the movie indiustry'' ? [notice the plural form] and the only thing he could mention is Olu, and how the producers are unintelligent for allowing a non-igbo play the role. That implies 1 of 2 things or both - 1. That's the only draw back of the movie industry 2. That's the most important draw back. Whichever the case, we both know it's false. Again, don't we have Nadia, Van, Majid and others playing Nigerians in a movie? Don't they interpret the role very well? Do we criticize them or the producers for that? No! I still think he's hurt because Olu gets most of the job. Olu is as good as [if not better than] Pete in interpreting the role. seyibrown:Thank You!!! It's easy to see that Pete's problem is - Having a non- Igbo [Precisely Olu Jacobs] interpret the role. Go back to his comment. The person who is playing the Igwe roles in all the movies these days is Olu Jacobs. He is not an Igbo man. Simply do not understand why somebody who does not speak the Igbo language, who does not understand the culture, the mind and the psychology of a people should be the one playing those roles. This is the reason why those roles are not being properly interpreted.I can imagine myself asking him - Sir, where lies the flaw(s) in the interpretation of those roles? How has Olu failed? and have Pete reply . . . I watched a film where people had to help hold Olu Jacobs wife in the movie and he basically despoiled her because she refused to have intimacy with him and he was supposed to be the Igwe in the filmGeez!!! Like I ealier said, Pete should be quiet if he has nuffin better to say. If Olu was supposed to play the role of a sexually undisciplined Igwe, where lies the problem? Pete just has nothing to say, abeg. |
Aww!!! Thanks for the pic. . . . .I Love it. How Lovely!!! ![]() |

MyJoe seems to know a lot about Food. Topic - Egusi, for me. One day with Eba, another day with rice. |
Pete should be quiet Jare. Is he bitter because Olu has been getting more roles? Is Van Vicker Nigerian? No, but he features in Nigerian movies and plays a Nigerian. Tribalism deh worry Pete. |
