A Yoruba socio-political group has called on members of the Yoruba community to refrain from encouraging former Labour Party spokesman, Kenneth Okonkwo, to continue his public criticisms of NDC Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the group expressed concern that some yoruba individuals who are politically opposed to Obi may be celebrating and amplifying every criticism directed at the former Anambra State governor, thereby deepening political divisions in the country.

According to the group, while Kenneth Okonkwo has the constitutional right to express his political views and disagreements, supporters should avoid turning personal political differences into a sustained campaign against Obi.
"We urge our yoruba people not to see Kenneth Okonkwo as a weapon for attacking Peter Obi. Political disagreements are normal in a democracy, but they should not be exploited to create hatred or division among Nigerians," the group's spokesperson said.

The organization noted that some political actors and commentators who do not share Obi's political ideology appear eager to use the ongoing disagreement between the two former allies as an opportunity to discredit the NDC Party leader.

The group stressed that Nigeria's democracy would benefit more from debates on governance, economic policies, security, and national development rather than personal attacks and political vendettas.

It further urged yorubas to stop going to Kenneth okonkwo house to manipulate him to continue his fight against peter obi while urging political supporters across ethnic and regional lines to respect differing opinions while maintaining civility in public discourse.
"Whether one supports Peter Obi, Kenneth Okonkwo, or any other political figure, the focus should remain on issues that affect the lives of ordinary Nigerians. We must reject politics of bitterness and embrace constructive engagement," the statement added.

The group concluded by calling for unity among Nigerians and warning against attempts to use political disagreements to fuel ethnic or regional tensions ahead of future electoral contests.

The president can do nothing more than what he's doing unless a new law is passed that all individuals can arm themselves however they like. Then, we'll only see dead bodies not lives ones being kidnapped, arrested or rescued.

There is a subset of Northerners, mostly Fulani, who believe in the supremacy of the North over the South, and the supremacy of the Fulanis over other Northerners. These people deeply understand and imbibe Ahmadu Bello's philosophy of politically dominating the South.

From what I have seen on social media, many of Atiku's Northern supporters belong to this subset. Obasanjo, as the president of Nigeria, allegedly prostrated for Atiku to allow him run second term. Atiku insulted Jonathan to his face in 2011, telling him not to contest because it was the turn of the North. He would later defect from PDP to be among the founders of APC. The same Atiku contested to be president just as Buhari, a Fulani man, was completing 8 years. Obasanjo begging Atiku for a second term clearly showed that Atiku dangled his Fulani credentials in his face. Atiku is a Fulani supremacist deceiving the gullible as a detribalized Nigerian. Tambuwal, El-rufai and Buhari are other examples of Northern supremacists.

Contrary to what they might want to make you believe, Atiku still does not have a widespread appeal in the North. Most of the people cheering Atiku's presidency in the North are the Fulanis.

The post made by this Kwankwasiyya dude reeks of a Northern supremacist, who could not wrap his head around a RMK deputizing an Obi. To people like him Northerners should always be president, and they must decide whoever and whenever a Southerner should be a president. One of the problems the Northern establishment has currently with Tinubu is that they cannot control him after they reluctantly put him in power. By the way, he still had to bribe them with a Muslim-Muslim ticket.

One of the reasons this superiority mindset in the North has remained is because some Southerners have bought into it. I shake my head in disappointment when I read comments from some myopic Southerners on social media saying something like: "The North have decided to take power back". Statements like this cave to such Northern supremacy mindset; they also reek of Southern inferiority.

The good news is that the North of today is no longer the North Ahmadu Bello handed over to them. They are not as united as they used to be. The long played-out Fulani domination has weakened the cohesion among the various ethnic and religious groups in the North. The Tiv man from Benue or the Berom man from Plateau is more suspicious of a Fulani man from Sokoto than his grandfather was in 1965.

This lack of cohesion is something a united South can capitalize on. With all the popularity of Buhari in 2015, if the SW had voted for Jonathan enmass, Jonathan would still have won. Peter Obi's performance in 2023 also shows a pathway to presidency without massive votes from the Fulani-dominated states.

If Atiku run in 2027 and amass large votes in the North, I would suggest we present and unite behind a Southerner in 2031 to contest against the Northerners.

Oga, your long epistle is out of point! What the writer is saying is that Obi is a nobody in politics compared to Kwankwaso. He has no pedigree, no experience, nothing to show he can be president. Therefore Kwankwaso coming under such a person is a let down on the Kwankwasiya group

It’s the job of the President to enforce the law. Law enforcement officers are his enforcement agents, and they have an IGP who answers directly to him.

If a law enforcement officer fails, there is a DPO in charge of that officer. If the DPO fails to discipline the officer, there is a commissioner of police who can discipline the DPO, and so on till it gets to the President.

In between all these are advisers who perform oversight functions and so on.

It’s the same with the military, DSS, EFCC,
Ministries and so on.

It's not the duty of the president to enforce laws! It's the duty of the law enforcement officials. The president doesn't need to be built or act like Rambo for laws to be enforced. Even if Obi or whomever come in, they'll still work with these people.

Oga, there's a difference between trying to provide a service and backing out of a policy. One is due to lack of capital while the other is cowardice.
