Oga, there's nothing like purportedly resigned in law! You either resign or you don't. And you have to back it up with evidence. Now any resignation letter "purportedly" tendered by Mr Ralph Nwosu after july 2, 2025 will be seen as forged. Mr Bala's signature is the major issue here, not the letter.

Lamidi Apapa of LP declared himself interim national chairman, then a court backed him. LP was thrown into crisis because of this. At some point during this externally induced crisis, Abure had issues with LP leadership and they removed him as chairman. As soon as party leadership removed him, the court recognized him as LP party chairman, further deepening the crisis in the party.

Again, the same template was used on ADC. Nafiu Bala declares himself interim national chairman. The National Executive Committee of the party didn't recognize him, they made David Mark chairman. Bala even resigns from his self-proclaimed position. The party's NEC never at any point communicated to INEC recognizing Bala as chairman.

Despite all this, the court and INEC decide to step into something that is purely an internal party issue.

This is not democracy.

One thing you guys fail to realise is that structure is very important. Structure is what motivate people to come out to vote. Most people will prefer to stay at home. Structure is what brings them out. Structure is what enforces strongholds. Look at what happened to people that wanted to vote APC in the SE in 2023! Most were insulted, beaten or driven away. If apc had a structure in the SE to resist such, will that have happened? Will others at the side not have had the courage to come out. This is where governors come in. They fund structures. Even when oppositions are a majority, structures influence criminality to prevent voting either through ɓallot box snatching or gun shots in the vicinity to prevent votes from coming out. Rigging can the commence.

Your argument about pricing is flawed. What is the minimum wage in those countries? What is the PCI/standard of living in those countries? The fact is that N1200 for PMS is too high. It's too high because apart from the human suffering it brings, it has devastating effects on the economy and will wipe out the gains already made. The government has a responsibility to think of long term economics effects and the plight of the people.

Oga, stop talking nonsense! Minimum wage has nothing to do with the price of PMS. PMS is an international commodity. You can only reduce its price through subsidies or tax reduction

But when he recently said he would not reintroduce subsidies on petroleum products in the face of rising prices due to the war between Trump and Netanyahu and Iran, I realised we may be dealing with an administration whose policymaking is steeped in dogma.

Serious leaders the world over recognise the dangers of the current energy situation and are taking steps to mitigate the effects on their people.

In Europe, Germany, Belgium, Italy and others are introducing price caps on petroleum products (meaning the government will subsidize the prices if they rise beyond a certain point).

Denmark, Austria and Italy are paying lump sums to poor households to help them cope.

Spain, Poland and others are reducing all sorts of VATs, duties and taxes to rein in energy prices.

Note that these are not oil-producing countries profiting from rising crude prices. Nigeria, on the other hand, is set to make a "windfall" from the rising prices. So one wonders why Mr Tinubu's advisers have not told him of the need to take a little of the cash they've raked in since subsidy was declared "gone" or the one they're set to make now to subsidize petrol prices at the pump.

The critique of the subsidy regime in the past is that it was heavily compromised by corruption. Well, I'm sure they can do it better now since we won't have to do import-based subsidies. They can simply work with local refineries and work out a tidy crude swap process by which a designated amount of crude can be refined for local use.

All analysts are saying that the worst is yet to come - Iran is not backing down; several oil, gas and refining facilities have now been hit and will take a long time to fix; and the Strait of Hormuz remains closed. People can't go to work. Nigerians are facing rising poverty. The recent economic gains

reduced inflation
rising foreign reserves
better stock market performance
falling debt-to-GDP ratio
better trade balance

the country has made will be wiped out by hyperinflation. For the much-touted gains of subsidy removal, it's going to be one step forward and two backward.

I know Nigerians are a compliant people so the government can sleep easy even as they prepare for elections. But subsidizing PMS now - until the crisis is over - is the right thing to do. I hope President Tinubu does it.

Oga, check the prices in these countries you mentioned, you'll discover that what these countries are doing is not subsidies but reduction in taxes. Their prices far surpass the price of PMS in the international market. Our price is just basic with no taxes involved
