A report by TheCable indicates that suspected members of the Boko Haram have reportedly killed many people in Garkida, a town in Gombi local government area of Adamawa state. We gathered that the insurgents broke into the town around 7 pm on Friday, February 21, shooting sporadically. According to the report, the soldiers who were said to have engaged them in a gun battle later pulled back for reinforcement. After the security operatives beat a retreat, the insurgents were said to have moved into the town fully, setting many houses on fire. “Garkida is currently on fire… many people have been killed and their houses covered with smoke,” a source was quoted to have said.

Veteran actress Shan George has taken to social media to celebrate after she was appointed as the chairman of Callywood board. The actress thanked God for the appointment in a video shared on her Instagram page. In her post on Instagram, the actress explained that the Callywood board is the movie body in Cross River state. The body was incorporated by the governor of Cross River state, Ben Ayade. The actress said she was shocked to find out that she has been appointed as the chairman. She said she worked all night and slept by 6:00am but when she woke up she got the good news.

Odion Ighalo made his second appearance for Man United in their Europa round of 32 clash with FC Brugge. The Nigerian striker came in for Anthony Martial in the second half but failed to find the back of the net for the second game running. However the Red Devils took an away goal advantage back to Old Trafford as both sides will settle the scores in a week’s time.

But Ighalo seemed to be confused in the competition he was playing in after he told a journalist he was happy United took away one point in a knock out phase of the Europa League.

An Abuja Area Court, on Wednesday, ordered the Department of State Security to investigate the allegation of forgery of a National Youth Service Corps certificate levelled against the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.

Ewhrudjakpo of the Peoples Democratic Party was until his swearing-in as the Bayelsa State deputy governor on February 14, 2020, the senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District.

He was inaugurated alongside the state governor, Duoye Diri, following February 14, 2020, judgement of the Supreme Court nullifying the victory of the All Progressives Congress and its candidates in the last governorship election in the state.

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have arrested Muhammed Audu, a son of the former Governor of Kogi State, late Alhaji Abubakar Audu, for allegedly diverting funds totalling billions of naira.

The EFCC said the former governor’s son was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly diverting the funds which donated to the Nigerian Football Federation, for his personal use.

President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, on Tuesday urged security agencies to beef up security at the National Assembly.

Lawan stated that he had received reports of security threat to the assembly complex.

A statement by his spokesman, Ola Awoniyi, said Lawan at an emergency closed-door meeting the Senate leadership had with top security officials.

Eight persons were burnt beyond recognition after the vehicle they were traveling in was involved in an accident on Sunday along the Benin-Ekpoma-Auchi expressway. The victims were reportedly returning from a ceremony in Benin City. This is coming two days after six persons who are employees of Okomu Oil firm died in similar circumstances in the Edo State.

An official of the Borno State government has explained why some repentant Boko Haram members are been allowed to return into the society.

Zuwaira Gambo, Borno state commissioner for women affairs, explained that those been released are not actual Boko Haram members but victims of insurgency arrested at the wrong place.
