Nigeria’s Minister of Communications & Digital Economy Dr Isa Ali Pantami, said on Saturday that he did not approve the new NIPOST increase of license fees.

This was announced in a statement issued by the Minister via his Twitter handle after social media outrage at NIPOST over the increased fees.

The Minister responded to NIPOST’s social media handles that “our attention has been drawn to an increase of license fee, which was not part of the regulation I earlier APPROVED for you. Your Chair and PMG were YESTERDAY contacted to put the implementation on hold and send a report to our ministry by Monday. Best wishes!”

A 32-year-old man, Sani Garba, paraded by the Niger State Police Command for allegedly raping a 60-year-old woman, has pleaded for forgiveness, saying he was attracted by her ‘shaking buttocks.’

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun, said on Friday that the suspect was apprehended by operatives attached to ‘B’ Division, Suleja, adding that he would be arraigned after investigation.

It was learnt that the suspect barged into the room of the victim on July 18, 2020, around 4.30pm and raped her.

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday ordered a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke, to appear for arraignment on money laundering charges preferred against her by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Mike Tyson, the former world heavyweight champion who retired in 2005, said Thursday he will make a comeback at age 54, fighting Roy Jones Jr. on September 12 in Los Angeles.

The United Arab Emirates has asked Nigerian citizens living in the country whose visas have expired to leave before August 17, 2020 or be punished accordingly.

This is as the Embassy of Nigeria, Abu Dhabi, UAE, advised concerned nationals to join the evacuation flights arranged from the country before the expiration of the grace period.

In a statement titled, ‘Public Notice’ and dated July 21, the Nigerian Embassy in the Emirates urged affected citizens to immediately submit their papers for emigration processing.

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has asked landlords and property agents to charge six percent Stamp Duty on all tenancy and lease agreements they enter into with all leasees and remit the same promptly to the Service.

The New York City Police (NYPD) say they found the body of Fahim Saleh, founder of Gokada, dismembered in his apartment.

Saleh, a 33-year-old tech entrepreneur, was the CEO of Gokada, a motorcycle-hailing company in Lagos, Nigeria.

American actor, Bryshere Gray, Popularly known as Hakeem, on the Fox drama Empire, has been arrested on grounds of domestic violence charged against him by his wife, Daily Mail reports.

The police command in a statement said the incident began at about 10.15 pm on Sunday night, July 12 when Goodyear Police responded to a 911 call alleging “an adult female victim had been assaulted at her Goodyear home by her husband, who she identified as Bryshere Gray, an actor on the TV series ‘Empire’.”

Three men suspected to be diabolical have been caught in Ikorodu area of Lagos state on Sunday carrying a sacrifice.

The trio were reportedly beaten and forced to eat up their sacrifice.

An Air Peace airline flight deployed to evacuate stranded Nigerians in the UK has been denied landing rights.

A statement released by the Nigeria high commission in London on Sunday, the evacuation flights from London Heathrow to Abuja and Lagos will now depart on Tuesday, July 14.
