Civil Engineering is a very good discipline.

Apart from the theories you've been taught in school, learn the practical aspects too. These practical aspects includes site experience & design softwares, like AutoCAD, Orion, Prota Structure, Civil 3D etc.

Familiarize yourself with Construction terms: This is where site experience comes in. When you've been to various construction sites, you'll be acquainted to Construction drawings in your day-to-day activities, you'll also be privileged to ask for clarity on whatever issues that bother you, from the experienced Engineer(s) and the builders.

Also, volunteering works. If you know some big Construction companies or Consultancy firms that has proposed or ongoing construction sites, you can visit the site to volunteer as a fresh Graduate or an entry level Engineer.

This step above👆 is like a small drop 💧 of water, that makes up an ocean. 🌊

Volunteering helps you to build your experience in the Construction industry & also help you to expand your network.
Whenever there's a vacancy in any company or Consultancy firm you've volunteered before, you'll easily be given such opportunity unlike an outsider that's just applying for the role, even if the outsider(s) is/are more qualified than you.

Whenever any of your network decide to start up his or her own firm, they can contact you & easily entrust you with some aspects of their affairs, because of the trust that has been established beforehand.

I won't fail to mention this, good grades are important but your experience & skills are more important & most important. 💯

Besides, we have diverse area of specialization under Civil Engineering. Which area do you want to specialize in?
My school offer four areas of specialization namely:

1. Structure
2. Highway
3. Hydraulics and water resources
4. Geotechnic

To cut it short, I don't really know which area is highly marketable and demanding among those four in Nigeria.

A friend of mine told me geotechnic but my course lecturer said it isn't valued here

To avoid regrets, if you have a poor financial background, do these:

1. Only go for the top-notch courses, mainly, Medicine, Pharmacy, (certain) Engineering, Med lab Science, and Maybe Law as well as accounting (<26 YO is important here).
Reason: They may not earn you much initially, but they offer you the opportunity to make so much fulfillment and relevance along the line.

2. While at these, give you all, and make the highest grade you possibly could.
Reason: They will come in handy in placements. Most unemployed grads have degrees below 2nd class lower.
Did you know:
A second class upper cert in the vast degrees they are puts you in position to get a full scholarship abroad

3. Self-learn or pay to learn key tech programmes.
Reason: They pay you well when you're capable, and you don't have to major in them in school. They may put you in position to earn in dollars.

4. Learn a skill - from a successful boss.
Reason: It makes you relevant anywhere. You can even do this while in school or prior.

5. Learn a business - from a successful boss.
Reason: This, when done well esp. in a specified market, can be your best venture - particularly if you can read and write.

6. School/no school, degree/no degree, education or not. Be ingenious!
You wrote certain for engineering.
Why are you selective?
Pls do tell me important engineering courses

Seriously, I don't like the taste of sugary tears cos we aren't familiar with it, please cry me a salty one, bobo. When you couldn't alter the results of the election, the best thing to do is to begin shading some religious body.
Many of you haven't come to term with the fact that you have to do anything possible to still be in power or relevance ( go study Machiavelli's philosophy) because all the parties involved in the presidential election were involved in electoral malpractice but the Lord of the rigger won.

Hope you've congratulate the president elect so as to guarantee your peaceful stay in this country and if you want to leave, pls don't let it exceed today.

PoliticsRe: Tinubu Receives Certificate Of Return As President-Elect by Mko123(m): 5:48pm On Mar 01, 2023
Fut9ure:
We now see exactly where the problem is in Nigeria
North is really not the problem of Nigeria

But the South west

They are taking advantage of the fact that north and south east are not in good terms due to the war fought in the past to continue romancing the north

That devilish mentality and snake like nature will stop one day
Look at adeboye that led a protest during Jonathan era kept mute
South west got no reason to claim anymore that they are the most educated...this election open their yansh well.

The four major contestants were from the three major tribe
So it means we the South South are the one to choose the most suitable for Nigeria without biased because they are not our brothers
And we chose choose obi but due to tribalism the South west refused and supported a man who is sick mentally and physically...national anthem was going on he wasn't Aware

If you can't handover your daughter or sister for Marriage to a sick old man with dementia not physically and mentally fit. Some one not aware of his environment but still you want to support same man to head 220 million Nigeria at this point of our critical situation then may you and your family know no peace

If you are emotionally attached to your tribe, religion and political leaning to the point that the truth and justice becomes secondary consideration then your education is useless, your exposure is useless. If you cannot reason beyond petty sentiments. You are liability to man kind

Everyone should retweet and save this so that our future kids will know that at some point in the history of Nigeria we were caught in between the Devil( tinubu, atiku) and redemption( obi)
But the South west spoilt dragged us back because of tribalism

Every sane Nigeria should look at this and read a meaning to it
1) Tinubu political party and administration is ruling but he was unable to win Abuja where them sit down put
2) his own state of origin osun. Even a twelve year old will win thier own state yet he was unable to win

3) all development in lagos is attributed to Tinubu and he is regarded as the father of lagos yet he was unable to win

Nigerians should put on thier conscience and see that tinubu was rejected completely by Nigerians

I'm from the South South( Edo to be precise)
You shot yourself in the left leg.
I nearly throw up seeing you that claim being educated couldn't proof a point. Yoruba voted for Tinubu as you claimed and still lost his place in Lagos and Osun state and Oyo, the main Yoruba state. If not for envy, why on earth should you have reasoned like this.

I'm a southerner schooling in a northern university.
All what I care for is the presidential seat going to south, whether Obi or Tinubu. We should just accept any result from INEC provided a southerner secure the position.

Let's forget about our bashing, Ill mannered approach and self aggrandizement towards each other and focus on the strategy the incoming president will put in place which will inturn benefit her citizenry.
