penitential:Kalan has in depth knowledge on this..... But MBA accepts HND directly... |
kushido:YEEEEES! Some departments even accept 3rd class... |
paradigm001:1 year.... |
kalan:Kalan, I love this your analysis... very brilliant. |
2el:You are a graduate of Public Administration.... Honestly, If I were you, the only course I would be thinking about now is Industrial Relations and Personnel Management, IRPM. Full time and one year duration. Please, go for it.. You will look for me to thank me later. Just FORGET Political Science totally. |
2el:M.Sc full time is between 1 year... Most are 1 year duration. While Some are 1 and half I.e, 3 semesters. But professional Masters program are 2 years. And in the abridged prospectus, you will see where it is written ''a minimum of at least 4 semesters''... Meaning if you can finish your program and you don't have any reason to write a carry over course, you will finish within the required duration.. So for this, the seriousness of the student matters as well. But department of Political Science granting M.Sc in Political Science has a duration of 2 years. I don't know why. |
Ali929:You are welcome.. The least part time program is one year and six months, of which by the time you will finally finish it would have amounted to 2 years. But 99% of part time programs are 2 years duration. I am also currently running a part time program and its a 2 year duration. Lectures are from mostly 5pm of everyday or three times a week, or otherwise depending on the your timetable. last semester i did three courses, this semester i am doing 5 courses, meaning i will go for lectures everyday in the evenings. Finally, depending on your timetable, Weekend classes are feasible but most part time programs run during the week. Its part time, so expect any day for lecture. |
Ali929:The professional course isn't different from the academic only that with a professional course she won't go further for PhD as I said on the last page and the lectures would be in the evenings. But its content and quality are same thing including the certificate. To answer your question therefore, the program in full time is not flexible at all for a someone who is already working except her work place has lots of time where one can play with. Please, don't get me wrong here, I have a friend who is studying Computer science full time and also working. He is able to do it because of the relationship he has with his boss who encouraged him to mix it with his job, but how many bosses would allow that? So if her office can allow her go for full time and there won't be any issue, good then.. Also, I don't have idea about the the course Environmental Toxicology. With this, if she would want to still go further with her application, let her settle for the Environmental Management. |
2el:At least 18 months if you have B.Sc in Political Science. |
son4century:No need for PGD.... |
mzdeea:M.Sc Computer Science is one year. For the fees, kindly Click this link... https://universityinfo.com.ng/2016/01/03/tuition-compulsory-fees-for-all-postgraduate-programmes-in-unilag/ |
Doublelady:Just select completed... By the time the admission process would be going on, your nysc certificate would be in your hands... But when selecting, don't put in your NysC number. Be smart about it pls. So many people last year applied before getting their certificates and when it was time for screening, their certificates where already in their hands. |
Awarri:This link should help you all trying to know the amount for fees.... https://universityinfo.com.ng/2016/01/03/tuition-compulsory-fees-for-all-postgraduate-programmes-in-unilag/ |
Awarri:Bro, my advice for you is this... From all Indications you are not toiling the field which you graduated from, which to me is good- diversification. Since you have 5 years work experience in the field of administration already, choose between MPA and MBA. Forget MPIA, reason because you are already in the field of administration which also includes Human resources. You don't need MPIA at all. You totally qualify for MBA full time. The part time MBA has some clauses which I don't know if you qualify especially the compulsory three years in a managerial level. So choose between MBA full time and MPA. But if you are fully employed then please go for MPA. Part time MBA is almost 450k ( I am not sure though). MPA is about 112k or less. If its 112k, then it means you will pay 224k for the two years or less. |

Boring:Bro, sorry I don't have info on that... |
babajeje123:Master's in Computer science is full time and its academic while MIT which is Master's in Information Technology, is a part time program and Professional Course. |

Bro, I don't know about this... But could you go to the school of postgraduate and confirm? |
paradigm001:Public health is a professional course under Community Health. Please, check well. it should be there. |
eyeview:Bro, this is how it works. If you have your Certificate, then you don't need to apply with your statement of result and transcript. But if you don't have your certificate, then you will apply with your statement of result.. and when your name comes out as among those admitted, then you will present your statement of result and your transcript. When your have been given admission, and your certificate isn't wit you, you will do your registration with your statement of result and your transcript which by then must have reached Unilag. There is a book where all transcript sent to Unilag is recorded, so you will just go there and check the list. To your question now, If you present your certificate, You DON'T need transcript. You also don't need statement of result. Your certificate is the main thing. |
eyeview:Bro, in 2013, my friend applied for his transcript from the school we finished from, and guess what? while he applied for it in July even before the exam, the transcript got to Unilag by January 2014. luckily for him, admission process/registration started in February/March of 2014. Now if I may ask, had it been he applied by September after the entrance exam, when would they have received it at Unilag? probably after registration process has ended. This is Nigeria and let's say the truth, we don't have an effective administrative system. Don't take chances pls. If you have the opportunity of going now to do it, go and do it. if you want to do later after the exam, no problem and you are sure the administrative system of your former school is very effective, you can go after the exam.. If you go now, after the exam and you are successful ( which I pray you will), You can just go later to the school of postgraduate and ask if your transcript has arrived. If you will go now, its OK... but if you will go later, do it immediately after the exam. |
ebunoluwa07:If you have your statement of result, go ahead and apply for the postgraduate program. Before the exam or immediately after the exam, go to your school and apply for your transcript to be sent to School of postgraduate, Unilag. I used my transcript and my statement of result for my admission as my school was yet to give my certificate, which up till now I haven't gotten it from my school. |
missmalachi:Masters in Development Finance MDF, is a professional course and its for 2 years. With Accounting you can read MDF in Unilag Unilag offers Masters in Risk Management & Insurance and the duration is one year. I don't know which is better for an accountant. Just look at your future and bring into everything what you desire and which of them can lead you to what you want in life. They are both great courses. Maybe Kalan can help put in more light to this. |
loyinks:I think You will be required to go for PGD... But what I always tell people is to take the advises here and also GO THE DEPARTMENT and inquire your eligibility. Thank you. |
odimbannamdi:That I can't say cos I know it depends on the time frame given to sell the forms and if the number of applicants is much, they may stop the sale without giving more or additional week for it. but if the number is below their projected number to buy the forms, more time will be given to extend the sale of forms so more applicants can buy, which is normally two weeks additional time. Although Unilag is doing its best to get back in line with the September date of resumption which is normally the beginning of academic calendar of schools all over the world. But, qualifying exams should be through before second/third week of October. |
