Mass Effect 2 is coming to PlayStation 3.

BioWare CEO Ray Muzyka made the announcement today at Gamescom in Germany during Electronic Arts' press conference. No other details about the game were revealed.

The PlayStation 3 version contains the full Mass Effect 2 game and "hours of bonus content," though it is unclear at this time what that bonus content is.

"Mass Effect 2 is another great property coming to PS3 that will
compliment our PS3 line-up," Sony said in a statement.

EA set a release date for January, 2011. A company representative told IGN the publisher has "no plans" to bring Mass Effect 1 to PS3.

Microsoft has issued a response saying Mass Effect 1 will remain an Xbox 360 exclusive.

Microsoft has responded to today's announcement of Mass Effect 2 coming to PlayStation 3. The game first launched in January 2010 for Xbox 360 and PC, and is now headed to PS3 a year later in January 2011.

"With both Mass Effect titles launching first on Xbox 360 combined with the wealth of available paid downloadable content on Xbox Live today, Xbox 360 remains the best place to experience the Mass Effect franchise," a representative said in a statement given to IGN.

Mass Effect 1, first published by Microsoft in 2007, will remain exclusive to Xbox 360.

"And the original Mass Effect is absolutely an Xbox 360 exclusive, making Xbox 360 the only place to get the full Mass Effect experience," the company added.

Storing games, movies, music, and all things digital on your PlayStation 3 just got easier. Sony announced during its Gamescom presser today that a new larger storage capacity PS3 model is shipping to retailers as you read these lines.

In early July, Sony announced 160GB and 320GB PS3s, including a white version of the 160GB model, for Japan only. At the time, the company said it would make the upgraded consoles available worldwide depending on demand. Evidently the demand is there.


"These new higher capacity models will continue to offer the same advanced features and functions of the current models, but with approximately 33 percent more capacity and at compelling price points," John Koller, Sony's director of hardware marketing, said in a statement on the PlayStation Blog.

The 160GB PS3 will be available as a standalone and retail for $299.99. The system is now shipping to retailers nationwide. Sony has not confirmed if it will make the white version of the console available outside of Japan.

The 320GB model will only be available as part of the PS3 Sports Champions Move bundle, which includes a PlayStation Move motion controller, PlayStation Eye camera, a copy of Sports Champions, and a bonus Blu-ray Move games demo disc. The bundle will retail for $399.99 and be available beginning September 19.

Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid have signed Germany's World Cup star Mesut Ozil the big-eyed star from Werder Bremen.

Neither side revealed details of the costs involved, but Spanish media reported a figure of 15 million euros (£12.4m) had been agreed.
Werder, who had been fighting to hang on to the midfielder, appear to have accepted Ozil's desire to leave after a meeting at their stadium earlier in the day.
The German club said he would not be part of their side to face Italy's Sampdoria on Wednesday for the Champions League qualification play-off, which means he will be able to compete with Real in the same competition.
He is expected to take a medical in Madrid on Wednesday.
Ozil, who is of Turkish descent, joined Bremen in January 2008 from Schalke 04 and scored 12 goals in 71 Bundesliga appearances for them.
He won the Under-21 European championship in 2009 and has scored twice in 17 full international games.
At Real, he will join a host of other young signings under new coach Jose Mourinho as they attempt to wrest the La Liga title from Barcelona.
The Spanish giants have already landed midfielder Khedira from VfB Stuttgart, wingers Angel Di Maria and Pedro Leon and midfielder Sergio Canales, along with experienced defender Ricardo Carvalho.
