Apart from Christians, most people suffers from multiple personality. In Abnormal Psychology, personality is a Disorder because of certain traits were discovered to be responsible for certain behavior or action of any individual. There are three clusters or groups of personalities. They are divided into A,B&C. According to DSM-VI-TR, cluster A are Paranoid,Schizoid and Schizotypal etc Cluster B are Antisocial,Bordline and Narcisstic, Histrionic etc While, Cluster C are Aviodant, Dependent,Obsessive-Complusive Peronality Disorder. To get the true symptoms of some of the cluster A personality disorders such as Shizoid and Schizotypal.Kindly type the word on Youtube.com and google the rest. In Africa, due to the limited education on this subject, some men of God thought this personality disorders are witchcrafts or evil spirits. This is very typical in deliverance services, when the members starts to show symptoms like or having episodes such as hallucination (hearing vocies). |
Thanks @Jenwitemi and Viaro. I conducted an interview of three people who claim to be spiritual and not religious, to get a general idea of their opinions and input on this subject. Based on the information I gathered from them, these people don't want to be burdened by such stifling obligation, i.e., being associated with organized church. They want to be exempted from paying tithes or offerings and not subjected to church laws. In a nutshell, they want to be liberated or free from religious obligations. But they claimed to practice meditations such as yoga, pray and other forms. Do you think the above mentioned people are better off spirituality than church goers? |
Thanks @Jenwitemi. What about our children and children? If they fall in love with a Moslem girl, what next? Why do we treat other religion like stigma? Why are we so attached and believed that Christianity or Islam is the only way? Meanwhile, our God loved diversity in everything. In Genesis1:1-end, He created in pairs and kinds. However, he saw this creation in pairs and different species good. Can we get it ?? |
I'm only trying to seek people opnions or arguments, if is possible to be spiritual without belonging to any "organized body" or religion such as church and mosque etc Can this claims (Spiritual and not Religious) fulifill the spiritual needs of people that goes to church or mosque in any way or can one catergories them in the same level of spirituality? What do you think ![]() ? |
So, what next? Should we create our own version of christianity or islam ? ? |
The question we need to ask ourselves, apart from the convenience of ATM machine and Credit card uses, what is the impact of this business activity in the house or church of God. The answer is banks are getting paid through (service charge) on sunday at the expense of "Special Christians" who forgot to fill their lamps with oil before entering into the Inn to wait for the Bridegroom in Matthew 25:1-13. Secondly, O! I will feel happy at the site of Madlock withdrawing #100k as offering from the ATM machine. Meanwhile, I dont have money for offering or for the next meal after service. However, if you do not want to carry a huge amount of cash to church, you can "issue or write cheque"for your offering. This will prevent unnecessary attention of someone else knowing "what the left is giving to the right hand". Therefore, the church suppose to be a place for submission and spiritual reflection that will take us away from the societal stress or distraction that could stain our relationship with God. Why bringing worldly standard or physical convenience to the temple of the most high? Please rethink ! |
@Jenwitemi and Kay17, what should one do with this religions, if they dont practise what they preach? what are we going to leave behind for the next generation, hatred or love? Should abolish relgion in for the sake of the truth? |
I think religion is more of a tradition and the ideal practise is lost . It just troubled my spirit, when Christians don't show love to one another and they claim to love God. I wonder which God? Inside Christianity, RCCG refused to share the word with Jehovah Witness. Cele is against C&S. Anglican is after Roman Catholic members. This kind of practise can only be found among tribes and natives in the name of culture. Why is Christianity or Islam engaging in this outdated trend? |
@Joagbaje is more of inconvenience to the things of the spirit than convenience. Have you thought about the "Siren", "Armoured car" and "Armed Police Officers" likely to interrupted weekly service. The kind of "panick or anxiety" this might cause for the members. Secondly, who gets the "charges fees" for convenience, the church or the bank? Thirdly, what impression will this "business" creat in the minds of people that is against it? Good or Bad. In addition, the church could be drawing attention of armed robbers and ATM fraudsters because of convenience!!! However, the church is supposed to be the temple of God. A sacred place that must promote spiritual things which is not convenience to the flesh. I will like your honest response. |
@ Real truth, thanks for your plain truth. @ Manmustwau spelling noted and your opinion is needed too! |
@ Ganjaseed and Babaearly well said. I'm just scared of this latest development. What next? |
Rev. Myles Monroe said and I quota, "The number one probelm of the world is religion." I do agree with him because of my experiences with some believers of both Islam and Christianity. These people of faith are too attached to their believe just like the traditionalists or other practises and they tends to forget the true foundation of this faith system that is built on "Peace and Love". Why are we separated by this self-destructive and unfair biased faith? Why Christians cannot marry Muslims ? Why are these tribes like Edos, Yorubas and Urhobos sensitive in marrying Igbos, Fulanis or Ijaws? Where is the "Peace or Love" preached in the churches or mosques? We claimed to serve the same God on Sunday, sing the same hymn, worship and praised in the same place. But yet, our hearts are divided. What do you think ![]() ![]() ? |
It has almost become a cliché to hear people say that they are spiritual people but that they are not religious, or that they want no part of an organized religion with its doctrines, rules, and rites. Why is such a position unlikely to satisfy the "spiritual" needs or hungers that people have? |
Thanks for your responses @ Joagbaje. In your post, you mentioned "convinces" and I think is more on the church part than the members. I believe strongly that the idea of ATM in churches are to discourage people for making excuses for not paying their tithes or given offerings. Remember Jesus discouraged such "Acts" of monetary exchange (Card for Cash) in the temple in Matthew 21:11-13. What do you think? |
Good day House, This is incredible! ATM in one of the famous church in Brooklyn, New York. While other churches created Websites or phone lines were you can make your offerings and donations with your credit cards. What is the gospel turning into because of money? Why ATM and credit card for offerings? I bet you soon or later, Nigerian Pastors will introduce this in the name of God. |
Good example @ Hesperus, I believe some of us can relate this to the Nigerian movie "Osoufia in London". The main character couldn't hold back his cultural shock of seeing pigeons feeding at Trafalgar square. |
Is going to be hard for some Nigerians to get UK/US Visas. These foreign countries will become more strict or may decides to revoke those with multiple visas. |
Fellow Narialanders, Kindly, share some of your experiences in other country or culture, you've visited. I believe some of this behavior or culture are strange to us (Nigerians). For example, I was shocked to learnt in New York City, that teenage girls at 13 & up have rights to privacy at the hospital. She can "bounce" her parents, if she chooses. Also, any male child or children at 2 & up are not suppose to share a room with their parents. Tell us your own experience, "cultural shock" |
@ Jagunlabi, good point. But, I feel the leader should be the one with the knowledge and not the followers. |
@KunelOshob, I totally agree. |

A 2-3 years bachelor degree in theology with not hurt. I believe some pastors already have a degree holders in different profession. This theology degree will shape their understanding like Omolulu pointed out, " Omolulu:. I believe there should be an educational yardstick, |
Fellow Narialanders, Do you think Nigeria pastors should possess a bachelor degree in theology before he or she could established or become a pastor of a branch? It baffles me somethings the way some men of God interpreters the Bible. I believe strongly that this will help them in all areas of the ministry. Comments and opinions are welcome. |
Hi everyone, I've been reading comments about this topic and i really want to inform the house that the story could be true. This is because I had a bitter experience at Heathrow Airport on the 26th december 2008. I based in the U.S and I was traveling with my family, my wife and a 16 months old son. We got to U.K Airport and I noticed every passenger passing through the security screening or metal detector were hand searched. This is unprofessional and abused in the U.S because I've worked with different security firms at JFK even the TSA will never have a direct contact with your body. My wife went through and also my son. When it got to my turn, the indian security officer did the same hand touching my waist line with out gloves and moving his hand everywhere. When I told him, i was uncomfort with this procedure or searching technique. He got upset and told me, he was going to search me properly. I t was then he used the hand scanner, that he was supposed to used before. As I was urging with him and my wife complaining. The white female supervisor came to the scene and told me, "Do you want to be search here or go to the bathroom ?'' At that point, I didnt know what to do. I was tired after 8hours flight from JFK and struck at this Heathrow Airport for another long hours. I gave in to the indian guy to pleased himself because I know from experience, if you dont let them do it there. They could set you up with drugs or even delay you at the Airport for hours. Besides, I had my son and my wife visiting nigeria for the first time. After much consultation, I learnt from the other supervisors that is a standard procedure for such searching . She gave me a form, if i want to take it further. I just let go and i promised myself no more BA or Heathrow Airport, period! |
