You are very right... some of us here in the States settled for blue collar jobs for years before we could be able to fully switch into IT... tho it's not like IT positions are competitive here... but the reason is that a new arrival may hav to consider other means of survival for the time being is that... no IT company will hire you without a proper Work visa... so you gaz to work on your residency first before even thinking of applying for jobs...

Only the people that arrived on work permit resume work immediately...
I was a students and it took a while before I got a proper placement because I require a sponsorship and its not that simple to issue out....

So I guess if this people work on dia adjustments of status first... den option for IT jobs will be surplus...

I remember I used to apply for jobs before Ieft Nigeria... i used to get almost every mail wanting me to resume or come for physical interview ... but when they discover I need a sponsorship... everything just become slow.....

But the said lecturer can still go for more training if he hav the time... 6months or less can really change his career

Well the reason for his career switch might not be because of lack of job opportunities or his skill set in development..

Apart from UK , Canada with Sponsored work Visa due to shortage in IT sector and maybe Italy with Digital Normad Visa... US Japparians in the IT sector usually need time to fully integrate into the very competitive US IT sector and this is why most Japparians to US make do with other Jobs till they can fit in to the US IT Labour market

Apart from the lecturer in question, I have another friend who got his master's degree in US, hasn't get an IT job, but works as a bouncer

Majority of my computer science lecture back in Undergraduate days can write and understand codes... but they hav never successfully built one major software for a company before.... all they do is to maintain the school database or build small small students record system for some secondary schools...

Apart from class tutorials, I am not sure I have seen him develop a project from scratch..

But however during my final year project requiring me to develop an examination portal he was fully supporting me in all stages and we basically developed it together using HTML, PhP and JavaScript

One of my IT mentor boss arrived here and started earning around 200k/yr with this same programming skills he developed from nigeria.. all he takes for him to do was go for another 6month course... now his a chairman...

He is good at Java, and C++ ... I mean he can write codes on plan paper and if you type it into an editor and compile it he would run without error

I would have simply shown his Facebook page but that's violating his privacy

Anyways anyone who attended LeadCity University around 2008-2012 would know Mr Solomon of Computer science department how good he is in programming and how he has since relocated to US with his family and proudly post pictures of him wearing his green reflector vest and construction helmet working at sites

My brother whether Obi wins or not doesn't change the fact that I and my family have been liberated for years, my only desire is for Nigeria to have a new breed of leaders with different ideology and style and that was the reason I was supporting Osinbajo to fly APC ticket even before Obi emerged.


It would have been a great joy having Obi on LP and Osinbajo on APC ticket, at least we would have had great hope that whoever wins will be good for Nigeria.


Should I expressly tell you that Buhari's tenure was my best years since I was born ? Despite his evil failed leadership, it favored me and my entire family. I acquired numerous properties, started new businesses, bought 5 cars in just 2021 alone no jokes.


Under Buhari's failed government two of my elder brothers got their highest promotions that put them among directors of their firms; bluechip companies in Nigeria.



Under Buhari's evil leadership I got married to a wonderful lady of my dreams, had amazing kids that look like dolls moulded to perfection.


Under Buhari's evil leadership some of my cousins got PR, some got top notch tech and medical jobs abroad from Nigeria and now top income earners abroad.


Under same Buhari's evil government a close friend became a Naira billionaire and now owner of a fast growing company providing wonderful services to Nigerians and other West African countries and I am so proud to be his closest friend cos being a friend of a billionaire also makes you closer to that status. At least I get contracts from him which I am grateful to God for.



So my wanting Peter Obi to win 2023 Presidential election has nothing to do with tribe, its cos I want a safer Nigeria devoid of daily slaughtering of people for no justifiable reasons.
