Ok, so a summary of my application process. After applying for the first time last year and having to withdraw my application because I needed my passport for another trip and it had been with UKVI for 2 months and no decision was reached, I was a bit wary to apply this time around. I applied on the 18th of April. This time around I ensured I tries as much as possible to make things easy for them with a detailed cover letter. I spoke about my interest in going there, I explained inflows above N200k into my account that were not my salary (hence could not be seen on my attached payslips). I also documented reasons why I would definitely come back to Nigeria. I don't have landed property but I stated thatbi would definitely come back to meet my husband and that I have a good job here e.t.c.i also stated that as shown in the photocopies of my passport pages which I attached, I had always come back to Nigeria within the stipulated time in all my previous travels. I picked up my passport with the visa on the 10th of May, exactly 3 weeks after the application with the 6 months visa.#UKfirst timer. I dont know what worked but I am glad to have my passport back without any delays this time around. |

You could withdraw your application and your passport should be given to you within 3 working days (which is what I did last year when I needed my passport) however that would also mean the money spent for the application is gone. It's up to you what decision to make at this point in time. I know how frustrating thus can feel. Hopefully, they make a decision today on ur application eskinol: Hello Guys,
I need advise on what to do concerning my visa application. I applied since 7th of March, missed my training because no decision has been made, escalated the issue 3times, called uk visa centre twice, visited the embassy in lagos and they are all saying that uk hasn't made a decision. Now i have an exam on tuesday and i have to use my passport orelse i will lose my money plus time. I want recall my passport. Is this advisable and wat are the odds. Please i need urgent response.
Thanks |

Hi Gazzuzz, my 2012 toyota highlander started having ac issues some weeks back. The vents at the back of the vehicle were releasing hot air, later it moves to the drivers side which was realising warm air. We called a mechanic who said it was low on gas and refilled it , it seemed a bit better after then till this week when the a.c. stopped working. It does not even not even blow any air at all. Pls help! |

HokageTravels: Yes sadly, it's quite true. You have to present a proof that you have arrangements to return back to the country!
You can choose to cancel your return ticket when you are already there and ask for a refund that's if it has a refund value and then book Emirates back! But that will be a rather long, expensive and inconvenient process to put yourself through at times the refund wont be as tangible as you would expect and it might take time before you get it.
Thank you I just came across this post and decide to give an update. My husband and I actually travelled to Dubai last year with Etihad airline and returned with Emirate airline. We bought the emirate airline before leaving Nigeria and passed through immigration without any hitch. So it is possible to buy a different airline ticket for your return trip. It was also not a one -of thing because I called Etihad and also tweeted @ their handle before leaving Nigeria and they confirmed to me through both means that once I have a return ticket (even if from another airline) I do not have any issues. |

Please I want to confirm if my old passport number will reflect on the new one cause I planned to renew and my old passport has an awaiting application on it, got just 4months to expire and intend to renew. Will the new passport reflect the old passport number? Somebody at the immigration told me the new passport will carry both old and new number, but I doubt his claim. Hello, pls did your university also send your transcript to CPA and was it hard copy or upload? okdee: Hello, I'm doing my assessment with CPA,
1. yes the $453 is for both qualification and experience assessment, I had a positive assessment for qualifications but requested additional documentation for experience which I recently forwarded to them.
2. I paid with a foreign card as it was the most convenient for me, but i don't think you'll have problems with payment.
3. My ACCA was assessed to be equivalent to an Australian Bachelors degree, I believe ICAN will similar faith, and yes its not compulsory.
4. I don't know |

Regarding withdrawal of application. I called UKVI on the 23rd of August to withdraw my application and I was told it could take up to 15 working days, I went to TLS office on the 25th to fill the withdrawal form there and TLS told me it would take 3 working days and it actually did. I got my passport 3 working days after submitting the form at TLS. opeobats: Hello I need your advice. I applied for a visiting visa on the 25th of August and it has been receieved for review by an ECO. Just found out this evening that I was awarded the ptdf scholarship. My dilemma is what do I do now? Would I have to withdraw my current ongoing application and re-apply for a student visa?
Please how long would it take for me to get back my passport if I have to withdraw my application?
Thanks. |

Thanks for your response. But isn't the emirate ticket enough proof that I will return to Nigeria if I show them. I will buy the emirate ticket before leaving Nigeria. Is it that the only acceptable proof is the return ticket of the airline I am leaving with? HokageTravels: Yes sadly, it's quite true. You have to present a proof that you have arrangements to return back to the country!

I would like to confirm if this is true. I will be travelling to Dubai soon. After looking at the flight ticket prices I decided I would go with etihad and come back with emirate. I would purchase the emirate one way return ticket before going. However I was told by the agency I approached that it is not usually possible to do that as I might be turned back at the airport in Nigeria or requested to purchase a return ticket with etihad at the airport before I would be allowed to travel. Is this really true?? Pls help. |

I feel your pain bro. However your call will be picked by their contact centre agent who can only escalate and not resolve the issue. I tire for them too. i feel the process is too long. kayzuz: Hello All,
Please I have decided to contact UKVI by phone to demand they make a decision on my application and return my passport. I applied with my mum and sister whom have collected their passport with their visa and the already booked their flight. Bcosz of me they had to postpone, as today was suppose to be our travelling date. why do UKVI hold on to people's pp without making a decision, mostly for a visit visa? I mean it is just a visit for crying out loud, nothing so serious. If they are not convince on giving a visa, they should just refuse with reason in reasonable time. Coz I dont know why you will hold someone's pp for a tourist visa, not like I wanna go visit my ancestor o or my family, just tourist. And not like I wrote on my form I must visit, dont know why they are holding my pp hostage. This UKVI really need to chill on this atitude o. I will never go to their front again for a visa, If not that I will not be able to get my money back, I would have just withdrawn the application. But becoz they wont refund, I cannot let my money go like that, them go do the work wey I pay them to do. I will tell them blantly on the phone that I do not care whether you are investigating shit or not, make a decision right now, either you approve or refuse, just decide and return my pp before next week runs out. RUBBISH sORRY ALL O, that I am lamenting here, I just need to vent somewhere. My question is like how much recharge card should I buy, to call them on the phone that will be enough to speak their head off. |
