The best person to answer your question is the airline you are going with. You can call their customer service to verify this info. As well, you can check on the US embassy website to read on details/ requirements/ protocols for covid 19 and passenger's admittance.

Abiodun95:
Good morning, Erudite Scholars...

I booked a flight with Qatar Airways. I shall be departing (January, 2021) from Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos (Nigeria) to arrive at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne Airport (US)...

I need to know if COVID-19 testing is a requirement for departure...

Thank you as I await your kind response...

Quite a number of schools are waiving GRE even for Engineering programs. Also I notice it's easier getting full funding for chemical engineering programs. Check University of Alabama Tuscaloosa. Do your research on different schools and apply early as deadlines are fast approaching.

seglius:
I had gre but 289. low score base on work load here. no time but no reason to justify fail

I will say you shouldn't box yourself with an oil and gas specific course/ degree e.g petroleum engineering particularly for a graduate course. You can do a program with your research interest in renewable energy as that's the focus of the world today. Even if you get a job in the oil and gas sector, a major in renewable energy will be a plus for you. Many oil and gas companies are also considering clean energy generation. Above all, your skillset matters in the industry.

Cflow10:
I want to ask a subjective question
With the way the Oil and Gas Indistry is right now in the world, and Canada’s own battles with its oil and gas industry

Do you guys think it’s a good time to go study for an Oil and Gas related degree in Canada ?

I would appreciate your opinions, thank you.

The person can go to a Walmart store to make the payment.

EmeritusR:
please if I have someone in the US that can pay my sevis fee for me how will I do it, do the person still have to pass through western Union payment or the person can pay directly since he is in the US. which is preferable?

Check Michigan Tech Chemical engineering, Georgia tech, University of Arkansas. You necessarily don't need to have a background in engineering, your academic credentials and GRE score is impressive. There are quite a number of schools you can apply to for direct PhD in chemical engineering with your background. This is application season, best you apply now against fall 2021 so that by the time you're wrapping up your service, you will be starting school immediately. Then you also have opportunity of being considered for funding. All the best.

Fabuloski:
Good day bosses,
I know the discussion going on now is about interview. I hope I get a response for this though.

So little story, I am a graduate of Industrial Chemistry (B.Tech 4.05, GRE: 324;3.5), currently serving, I am looking to apply to 2 or 3 Chemical Engineering program and I am having difficulty finding a safe school to pitch my application since I don't have an Engineering background. Please can the experts in the house help out with a suggestion?

By the way, all the program I am gunning for is a Ph.D. plus for my GRE, my Quant is 166 and during my undergraduate, I did 5 mathematics courses and I had distinction in all.

It's a personal account. I'm yet to submit my Ds160 so I will be changing the name I have on it to my current sponsor. Thank you.

Chonco:
Alright. You've got nothing to worry about.
Just go with the one you have.
And secondly, hope the new one is not a Business account or a statement account that belongs to a business name. It's important you know this. I'm sure you're aware.

Lest i forget, while filling the DS-160, who did you mention as Sponsor?
And for trip payment, did you mention the person's name?
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by Molly90(f): 10:15pm On Nov 11, 2020
Thank you for this and the other information. The person bailed out when I asked for the updated bank statement while filling my visa DS 160. It's kinda late asking for another I20 from the school.

Chonco:
Alright. Since it's written "Family", that makes it easier.
Ensure the annual or basic salary written on the i20 form is almost equal/same/above or slightly okay with the new statement of account - like, it's reasonable.
Until the VO asks (if he/she finds out) about the statement, don't talk 'plenty.' But why didn't you withdraw the statement since the person bailed out at the initial stage, even before you submitted your docs.
If you're asked to tell about your Sponsor, just mention who your Sponsor is (Since it's family, it could be your Dad, Mum, Aunt and co) and state what he/she does altogether. Very simple.
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by Molly90(f): 9:50pm On Nov 11, 2020
Thank you for answering. What do you advice in the case the initial sponsor bailed out when applicant is about to submit the documents. No specific name is stated on I20 just family/friends

Chonco:
To the best of my knowledge, i don't think it's proper. The I-20 form contains every info you provided via the (official) one submitted to the school. If the i20 has been issued already, it'll not really make sense if the VO finds out that what you have on i20 is different from what you present. Imagine having Mr. A's name on i20 and Mrs. B's on another statement of account.

Kindly go with the former. Funny thing is that the VO may not even ask for bank statement during your interview but it's of paramount importance that you stick to your former arrangement.

Some schools don't actually include your sponsor's name on i20 and some schools actually do that.
What you should have done earlier was to send the two statements to them. But you may still write them, telling them about the new sponsor.
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by Molly90(f): 9:48pm On Nov 11, 2020
Asguard:
Yes you can, provided there's no particular name on the issued i20, if it's just funds from family then no issue.
Thank you for your response. No name was included on the I20 just funds from family/friends

Good day everyone and well done to everyone keeping the page alive. Congratulations also to everyone that have gotten their visas.

Please I would like to know if one can submit a bank statement different from the one submitted to the school used in processing the I20. I will appreciate all response to my question particularly from people that have done this before. Thank you in anticipation. All the best to everyone.

Thank you for your kind response. I sent the email today and I got an auto reply 30mins later that they will respond within 10 business days.

Chocs:
Hello,

Was your email responded to? If I were you I’ll resend the email.

This shows your biometrics hasn’t been updated. It doesn’t necessarily mean something is wrong, sometimes it takes time. But just to be sure, if your email wasn’t responded to, send a reminder.

All the best

Good day to everyone. Please I want to know if this profile looks normal. Application was submitted 8th of October and the biometrics was done last Tuesday just before Lagos state government declared the curfew. I was sent an email stating cancellation of appointments for that day. I called VFS to be sure I'm on track and I was told to email the Lagos immigration office which I have done. Please should I expect further update on the biometrics?

This answers it better. They sent same list and included waec, I thought we could avoid the waec coming up because the certificate is missing. Thank you for answering, God bless you.

IboBoyNuel:
OH let me add, please also buy a scratch card /pin/result checker from waec and send it too.

Hi, congratulations on your admission to centennial. I wish you God's favor through the visa stage.

I will like to confirm something as regards centennial College, after submitting documents to the admission office and requesting status from the Africa office, we were asked to submit another set of documents by the Africa office which included waec certificate, I want to know if you were asked to do the same and if submitting the waec certificate is compulsory or we can go ahead to submit just undergraduate transcript.

I will appreciate your kind response. Thank you in anticipation.

I have just been offered admission into Centennial College to study Global business management for May 2020.

Maybe just your personal observation because I know soooo many private school graduates that got and are still getting their study visa approved. It is based on the visa officers perugative

Linzo:
Sorry for your refusal but I didn't mention covenant university, and if I do it will be typo error, private schools has the highest study permit refusal and followed by other lesser universities. From a research carried out UNN,Unilag, Unibadan and few other top universities graduate in Nigeria hardly got refusal. . If you doubt me whenever a delay comes on this thread, please ask the UG uni, its mostly private universities tho.

I wasn't blaming anyone neither did I write the article. It was written by the Vancouver News in Canada.

I only shared it as it pointed reasons for some refusal. If you read it well, you would have seen it there. There was a mention of suspicion of people's intent which can be linked to fraudulent application. This act also affect innocent people, hence it contribute to the high refusal rate.

eightyeight:
You seem leave out the part were students are getting fraudulent letter of admissions. Even going as far as making up a name of an institution that does not exist in canada.

As much as we want to blame the Canadian embassy, we as prospective students are the problem. When thing's like this continue to happen, it makes the whole process hard for other people.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by Molly90(f): 9:52pm On Nov 18, 2019
I think this is insightful and gives reasons to the high refusal rate as seen from Vancouver News excerpt.

Since you're applying for a post graduate program, a degree transcipts would do.

Hello all,
I just want to ask, is it compulsory one submit their waec certificate and scratch card while applying to Humber College for a graduate certificate course or just the undergraduate degree certificate and transcript is okay?

I'm not so clear about what I am reading on their website, reason I'm asking. I will appreciate your kind response. Thank you in anticipation.

Good day Nairalanders wink, this is my first time dropping a message here but I have always been on the background reading. I appreciate everyone contributing here for the knowledge shared.

My question is to those currently in Conestoga College or recently applied to the school or have knowledge of the application system of the school. I will like to know if it's compulsory to send my Nigerian transcript first to WES or the other body for evaluation before applying on the Ontario College application centre OR can I upload my official transcript in its original form directly?

I will appreciate your kind response. Thank you in anticipation.
