B.S B.S Birth Story
I thank God for safe delivery firstly cos that's the ultimate of this story.
I was told by doctor that my EDD is 18th December, scan center outside said 17th December, early scans has been showing early January.
Doctor said if there's no show then I'll be induced by 25th of December.
By 18th December, no show till 25th December. I didn't argue with the hospital because my period skipped for two months before I discovered I was pregnant, at the time I was still breastfeeding my first baby. As at the time I saw my first period after delivery, my baby was around 5 months.
I didn't see the period when first baby was 6 months, all tests showed negative pregnancy test.
I didn't see my period when baby was 7 months too, when I checked with pregnancy test strip, it then showed positive.
I was then confused when I actually got pregnant. Scan was giving different dates too.
In order not to take risks, I quickly accepted the induction advised by the hospital.
The induction and epidural for pain was administered on the evening of 25th December, by evening of 26th December, the labour did not progressed past 7cm.
Doctor said we should opt for CS cos baby's heartbeat was on the increase and I was in so much pain too.
My mum and husband encouraged me to allow the CS, I told them I'm not afraid of the money it will cost or any other thing.
We all encouraged ourselves.
I went into the theater by 9pm of 26th December, after all the preparation, the surgery started around 9:30pm, due to the epidural I've used before and I was feeling pain after administering spinal block.
The doctor just told the nurse to give me sedation injection.
On receiving the injection, I just slept off.
I later saw the nurse showing me my baby from a distance and cleaning up for her.
When I woke up again, I was back in my private ward and it was almost morning.
I later asked my family when the baby was brought out they said it took less than 30 minutes, just that they have to keep me and baby in recovery room. A nurse I asked for the time it took a patient earlier and she said they started the CS around 7 and they're done by past 8 that same night, so that encouraged me it won't be long.
I am so glad it all turned out well.
Thank God for safe delivery.

I'm sorry I may not be able to send it to your email but if you don't mind. Kindly copy out the birth story from this page. You have my consent.
Thank you.

Boliboli760:

@mommafertile I'm doing well, thank you. I hope you are too. You are right, it will be very useful. I appreciate your consent, and I extend my gratitude to everyone who has reached out.

Afribirther encompasses a blog covering a wide range of topics from pregnancy to babies to family, a forum for open discussions, education, questions, and venting, and a podcast delving into deep topics. Although still in its early stages, I believe it will become a valuable archive.

For those who wish to share their stories personally, I've provided my email and Instagram. Currently, only 2023 birth stories are uploaded on the forum, and I invite anyone with 2023 or earlier birth stories to connect. I recently created a PODCAST for us to discuss and dissect our birth stories, share experiences, lessons learned, and more. I'd love to have you on board, so feel free to reach out whenever you can.

You can share your birth story via the provided email, through direct message on Instagram, or ideally, by adding it to your birth month topic or opening a new topic on the website forum.

Hello! How are you doing?
Did you want us to send our stories personally to you or you are just requesting for permission to use the stories on your blog?
You can use my birth story on your blog as I know it will be useful to someone out there.

Boliboli760:
Good morning everyone, pray we are all doing well with family. Congratulations to the mamas and papas in the house, and the mamas and papas still enjoying the bliss of pregnancy please continue to work and pray hard to get the non-traumatic birth experience you deserve.

I am tagging some mamas and papas in the house who have shared their super amazing birth stories in 2023 to join me on Afribirther podcast. This is for us to converse on experiences, lesson learnt, advice, learn, gist on anything and everything. I think it would be beneficial for present and future generations in Nigeria and across Africa to establish a robust online repository for our collective birth and family narratives. I tried sending messages privately on nairaland but it seems you can't send a personal message to individuals on the forum.

P.S.: If you incorporated a birth story before 2023 or didn't have the opportunity to share your birth story when your baby arrived, and you now wish to share your experiences or engage in discussions, I would truly appreciate hearing from you.

#TeamOctober2022 mama is here again with baby number 2. I thank God for counting me worthy. Baby number 1 is 7 months now and acting like she's truly ready to have a younger one. I saw my first menstrual period two months ago, 1 month skipped test with PT negative and no period, second one now no period, that's when I tested with blood sample and got positive(anyone with such experience)?
Though I would have loved to be preggy maybe later in the year or next year but God's will be done. I'm grateful, happy, hubby is happy too.
Once scan is done I'll know my team.
May we all deliver safely and God answer those praying for miracle baby too.
Kindly welcome me again.

mommafertile:
B.S! B.S!! B.S!!!

I give thanks to God for preservation of my life and that of my baby.
At around 39 weeks, I was frequenting the toilet to urinate almost every 5 minutes. It was so stressful.
By then I was already tired of being pregnant and can't wait to have my baby. I was tired of going for antenatals too, the doctor tested me and said the OS abi na cervix is still closed. We met with the MD of the hospital to ask about epidural analgesia, which we added as part of the labour pain reducing options, they also said it is best injected when labour has reached around 6cm or so. I was gearing for 6cm so we can request for it at the hospital, so it was devastating hearing OS is closed, not even at 2cm.
I was doing this labour inducing exercise that I saw on YouTube. I did the exercise for two days, on the 5th day which was a Friday I saw the mucus plug came out, I have been having contractions like mild menstrual cramps, I decided to continue the labour inducing exercise. On Saturday, another mucus plug came out with droplets of blood. I went to my sister's place with my tired body as a way to exercise.
The contraction increased Saturday night/Sunday morning, so was unable to go to church on Sunday morning. My husband and I went to the hospital and met the same doctor that's been handling my file since, he checked again and said OS is still closed, the doctor said I should back home, the nurse said it's because I'm a first timer that's the reason I'm acting drama, in anger I told her I'm not acting drama that I know how I'm feeling, she later apologized. The doctor said nothing to be done, that even if I'm to be induced it will be week 41. I was so weak and could not argue anymore, so we went back home same morning. On getting home, the cramps reduced, I was relieved.
Later that Sunday evening, the cramps resumed and became so unbearable. Since we just returned from hospital that morning, I didn't want to go again, I managed till Monday morning, the intensity of the contraction increased to like every 10 minutes. Around 2pm Monday afternoon when the contraction didn't stop or reduced, I made up my mind to go for induction at the hospital cos I was so frustrated. My family friend and I went to the hospital, while we told my husband to stay back cos we don't want neighbors suspecting I'm going to the hospital.
We met the same doctor that kept saying OS is closed, he tested again, same closed OS, we told him to admit me at the hospital, he was reluctant to do so but later agreed after calling the MD. The MD said he would be around in the evening, I was in the room I got admitted into but was going through intense contraction, my family friend went home which is close by to get my hospital bag. My husband came some minutes later (all the efforts for landlady not to suspect I'm at the hospital proved abortive, you know Naija people and their shine shine eyes grin grin).

Please bear with me, I'll complete the birth story soon, busy with baby and trying to recover, been a bit tired the past few days.
Thank you for your understanding.

Continuation

I was taken back to the labour room by the nurses and administered enema cos I was complaining of using the toilet. After the nurse did the enema with Lux soap and warm water, I rushed upstairs to my room to use the toilet. I was a bit relieved.
As my husband got to the hospital with some other supplies that he feels I might need, the contraction continued.
I was pacing round the room and will shout a bit when the contraction starts, they will quickly come and help me massage my lower back.
The nurses then moved me to another room at the first floor for easy management cos it's getting late in the evening. I could not eat or drink water. It was so intense.
I was taken to the labour room again for tests this time by a new doctor and another set of nurses on night shift.
They found out cervix is still closed, one of the nurses took permission to check and said she can feel the baby's head, all these tests were making me scream my lungs out. All there talks were flying out the window cos I didn't listen due to pain, I didn't even remember epidural sef.
The MD came in check and said I'm truly in labour but the cervix is just closed, that it's a rare case. Which means the doctor I've been seeing since didn't know it can happen due to his lack of experience on the job.
I was happy that at least, I was right on this one and not acting drama as the nurse said before.
The doctor then said I should calm down and cooperate or they will have to do CS, I didn't even listen to his talk, I was just crying.
He has gone to tell my husband and family friend that they may have to result to CS as I didn't cooperate and was stressing them.
One of the nurses then call them to tell me to cooperate that since they can feel the baby's head, I can deliver vaginally, I just needed to endure a bit more.
The MD with the aid of the doctor and nurses later used his gynecological tools to insert a transparent small ball with rubber rope in my cervix I think (I've checked online for confirmation, it's called Foley Bulb)
I was taken back to the room, after the insertion and some injections.
The contraction became more intense and was not stopping at all.
The doctor said they will monitor the catheter for 3 hours but if it pulls out we should let them know.
I've gone to urinate in toilet up to 30 times since I arrived at the hospital.
I didn't even know anything or hear anyone again. I lied down the contraction will hold me, if I stand same thing, I was slapping the walls and crying. AC repairer came to the room, I didn't even look his side even though I was not well covered with the hospital gown.
Each contraction I'll shout at husband and family friend to rub my back. They became tired but have no choice than to continue.
Within two hours while trying to go to toilet again, the Foley Bulb pulled out. They quickly called the doctor, in the same process, the amniotic fluid rushed out.
As we got to the labour room, the fluid rushed out again.
By then I think the MD has gone home.
The doctor and nurses prepped me up in the labour room cos it seems the cervix dilated to 10cm quickly within the two hours.

I was told to hold my legs and push looking towards my belly button. I did like twice. They could see the baby's head but no space for the baby to pass, so I was given a tear (chai, the tear long reach my anus cry though I just noticed they cut it but didn't feel the pain) the nurse said I should give the push my all.
I pushed for the 3rd time. I didn't even wait for them to call again, then I pushed for the 4th time and the baby just slide out that they have to quickly catch her.
I just heard her crying in a very thick voice deeper than my own sef lolzzzzz.
I just laid down well feeling relaxed.
When they were to start suturing I quickly requested for injection that numb the pain, so I sha saw two syringes stuck close to my vagina and I didn't feel the pain during suturing.
After they've dressed for baby and finish up with dressing me too, we went outside the labour room where my husband and family friend were waiting to receive us. My room was few rooms away so we strolled down with the nurses holding me.
I just laid down looking at my baby in her cot.
I delivered almost midnight but it was still that Monday night at 39 weeks 6 days.
Who knows what would have happened if I went back home as they suggested in the morning.
The MD came to greet me and baby the next day.
The other nurses and the doctor I met earlier were speechless.
The vagina is almost 100% healed now at two weeks postpartum. My mum stayed for almost two weeks, so I do sit on new potty filled with Savlon antiseptic and hot water, morning and night, she massages my body and joints area with hot water, she treats the vagina suture by massaging with hot water in towel, I drink warm water, I bath with warm water too.
My tummy is almost flat.
I thank God for life.
So sorry it came late. I just decided to write it now this midnight.
Thank you.

Good Afternoon mommies,

Kindly help with a good recommendation of private and government hospital for antenatal within Atan Road obasanjo bus stop.

Thank you

From Ota, Ace Medicare is okay, it's opposite Winners, you can also try Covenant University Health Center inside Winners.

From Atan side, Oluwalogbon Hospital and Ariset Hospital are also okay, that's before Atan bus stop.

Thank you so much ma'am. I didn't know I still have much healing to do. Thought everything is fine since I no longer feel the pain again. Grateful for the advice.

novia22:

Congratulations darling and thank God for the doctors on duty.
As much as you feel you have healed completely, pls be gentle on yourself cos 2weeks is too short to heal internally after an episiotomy. You are still a bit fresh on the inside so pls still be careful.

Congrats again Dearie

Hi mama.
I have not completed my birth story due to stress of handling Baby and my own need for sleep too but I need to chip a message in cos I saw your comment.
A day before I delivered I ran to the hospital due to intense contraction, doctor dismissed my contraction as first time mother drama but I knew what I was going through, so I went back home due to closed cervix.
The morning of the day I delivered the contraction increased, ran to the hospital cos I could not cope, the same doctor and nurse dismissed my contraction as first time mother drama cos cervix was still closed.
I told them to call MD and admit me cos I could not cope again. MD came in the evening, he said my cervix was still close but I am truly in labour, the only person that believed me, he asked if I used local herbs that can cause contraction I said no.
They did enema for me so I can use the toilet, he induced me with injections and one thing that looks like a small transparent ball with rubber rope attached to it. The ball was inserted inside my vagina and the ball pulled out within two hours of more intense contraction. It was from that moment I think the cervix moved to 10cm from 0cm.
I delivered after like 4 pushes.
So I gave birth on 39 weeks 6 days.

Pweetiebabe:
Hmmmmm, it is well induction or no induction, mother alive baby alive is all I pray for o.... Imagine even with all the plenty contractions cervix is still close from today's scan result

Thank you.

My fellow team October how is it going? It's our turn to testify.

Am a little bit confused, i met with gynae yesterday and she outrightly suggested that i go for elective CS based on the fact that i had emergency CS due to failed induction six years ago when i had my first.

I asked her if there is any other reason why i cant try VBAC asides that she said no, so i told her to give me till next week so i can think about it.

I really want to try VBAC since i am eligible for it, my prayer is that I experience fast labor. I started experience menstrual like cramps and back ache two days ago, i guess my body is already getting set.

I will suggest you prepare for both but if you are a good candidate for VBAC, there's no reason why you should not go for it.
Only change your mind if there's a medical issue.
Wish you safe delivery.

Good morning, wonderful Mamas.
It's Mommafertile, #TeamSeptember or October sef, don't even know jare
Please, who has an idea on how much epidural cost in Lagos private hospitals?
Hospitals on the mainland from Alagbado to Abule Egba area sha.
I want to weigh my options. I don't know how it works.
Thank you.

Update: I have met the doctor in the hospital I use. The doctor said epidural is 100k aside the hospital bills that.
I will gladly go for it if it will have no side effects.

Sorry for too much information
39 weeks and 3 days today, saw egg white discharge yesterday as if I was ovulating but early this morning the mucus plug came out with strips of blood.

Haaaa! Mama we still dey vex ooo

Make Una no vex oooo.
I'm back again.
Like I said I changed to a work from home job but it's almost like a 24/7 thing still stressful, though they have given me 3 months leave already but I don't want to take the leave till after delivery or maybe 38 weeks.
I just got to week 36 today.
Please bear with me.
I'm not even sure of gender yet. Scan is showing girl like twice, other times they're not sure.
Hmmm, I was so busy with work I could not keep up with asking the group for baby list. 200k exhausted and there are things yet to be bought like diapers and baby formula cos I want to ensure I take the formula to hospital.
Since Sunday I've not gotten myself, thank God for my boss and wonderful colleagues that took over my work, I only work around 7-10pm since last week.
The baby move the head to the right side of my pelvis and like right elbow to the same area. It was so painful I could not sleep and was crying on Sunday.
I went to hospital on Monday,

Good evening house. Sorry for running off after the pregnancy announcement in February.
It's due to work, though I've changed to a less stressful job.
May we all deliver safely.

Sassy256:
Hi mama's, been a guest on this thread, for over 4 years, registered at the beginning but had to deactivate cos of monitoring spirits.

I want to share with you all my journey and my testimony, yes because GOD WILL DEFINITELY DO IT.

I joined this forum after trying for about 6 months in 2018.
My case;
Secondary subfertility (no clear diagnosis) from Teaching hospital.
No fibroids
No blocked tubes
No cysts
Ovulating regularly but on day 12 ( I used to always ovulate on day 14/15)
So I had a 26 day cycle instead of the 28 I used to have before ever giving birth.
I was referred for several investigations, and everything was coming out OK and sometimes boderline but I knew something was wrong with me.
Things I noticed:
My period always skipped day3, but continued on day4 & 5(stop and start).
Sometimes I will spot till day 9/10
I would always spot b4 ovulation
Infection test showed staphylococcus so I focused on treating that for a good part of 2018.
After a while of taking antibiotics every month hubby became frustrated and even his **** would not even come up during sex. His sperm count was over 60mil with good motility and morphology so I knew it was me.
We took so many herbs for infection, spent money, I used serappeptase, xi Xian cao, yi mu CAO, guife bao, just to clean up every where, I took more concoctions for infection throughout 2019 since staphylococcus was the only thing being seen in any of the results so far.
I changed gynae 3 times but all of them kept saying nothing is wrong madam just go and relax.
Lest I forget, I always had this slimy stuff in my period like ovulation discharge, some people suggested I may be ovulating during my period but I sincerely doubted it.
2019-2020 I went for native womb-setting and herbs, used Omodara fertility tonic, I used Kandicrush, ginger-garlic etc Combo, bitter melon (the one dey boil with pap-water), I used gorontula e.t.c plus various fertility drugs clo.mid, letro.zole etc prescribed by my gynae (all at different times o!) yet no solution.
2021 I decided I was done, hubby and I decided to focus on what we have and just rest.
We stopped timing sex
I stopped buying drugs
I stopped going to a gynae.
I just rested.
I decided to start eating healthy following one natural fertility page on facebook.
But the slimy discharge with my period still bothered me so I complained to my sweetner seller on IG and she gave me her detox drink.
After taking it I noticed the slimyness in my period reduced in my July/August menses but I didn't conceive, it however returned in september when the product finished and her products was a bit expensive for me so I stopped buying it.
Going through nairaland I came across a mama that testified of eating healthy and drinking clove water the month before she conceived so I started researching cloves.
I liked what I saw and since it's not expensive I started buying it. I took it crushed with green tea everyday, by the time I saw October menses all traces of that slimyness was gone and I noticed my period was clearer, cleaner, brighter something was just different. So I continued it more diligently, November same thing.
For health reasons and constipation, I added a probiotic supplement that contains vitd3 in November. I also remember taking vitaminC 800mg for 10days after my period in November because I took COVID 19 vaccine as we were in the process of relocating so ttc was not even my priority at the time.
December 17th I was expecting my period, No show! I waited 3 days and tested, TWO BOLD LINES!
The bfp I had been waiting for, for 4 years came when I wasn't even expecting.
Throughout December I was following NSPPD, but was more focused on God making a way for us in a new country, I also prayed earnestly about my journey to conceiving another child but it was not the top priority and yet God Did It.
Just writing this epistle to encourage someone that may be having similar concerns like I was, maybe what worked for me might work for you too.
Imagine spending over N300 thousand on supplements and drugs alone not to talk of gynae fees, trad massages etc and yet cloves of N400 naira cleared one of my most pressing concerns about my cycle. Maybe the probiotics with d3 helped, maybe the 800mg vit C helped too but I just know that GOD DID IT FOR ME, and He will do it for you too.
Spreading babydust to all mama's here***
God bless.

Congratulations mama.
Happy for you.

miracletoday:
I announced my BFP months back.I referred someone to my WIDD n she reported it has been deleted.dts y I m reposting pls.God blessed me after 5yrs, age 39, he will surely do yours. This year BFP announcements n healthy babies will flood this thread.
WIDD
Early 2021,with d money we had( well husband money)I wanted an IVF, DH wanted migration. He won.I was so angry.i felt like he lost hope already.we obtained visa.I didn't follow him, I just wanted to escape from the back to back sex, prep my body again n have a backup plan( in case).People said all sorts, why I allowed him go, but I didn't even care as I was tired of sex with no result. As soon as he left,

1. Started with the ginger, garlic combo, drank that on Mondays to Thursdays for up to 5 weeks
2.Β chewed Alligator pepper and ginger. 3days on, 2days off, for like 3 weeks. That combo isn't for the faint hearted. The hotness is out of this world. I took that cos I read some testimonies on this thread that it cleared their cysts.( I developed cysts while using all those ovulation drugs n inj). I didn't do test to confirm if it worked, but I felt lighter n less pain in my lower abdomen
3. Introduced fertility massage , I wasn't consistent tho ,this I continue for several months.
4. Drank water like punishment esp from midnight till early morning. Included fruits in my daily diet.
5. After stopping garlic ginger combo, I started with the water leaf therapy, every other dayfor like 4mths. I was consistent. just squeeze n drink.later the thing sef dey taste like ribena to me.
6. While on the waterleaf, I Started vitamins E,b6 bco, Folic,C, ,vitex, ovacare. I stopped d vitex after some days. Then like 3 months before BFP, I changed to Ovaboost, b6,and ovacare.
All these prep took 6 months, before joining Dh.Β  When I joined him, I started
7. Gorontula( I heard it s a sex sweetner n wetner, so I was like let me wound this man with sex if that's wot I can offer). At times I will chew, other times, I will soak overnight and drink d slimy water later.Well DH testifies my game was hotter sha.
8. Fallodox...fertility supplement, great reviews, bought it from amazon. Manufacturer claims it works like clomid but without clomid side effects.used from Cd1-
9. Started kpekusing from CD2,i usually start from CD8before,my cycle length is 25. I sha wanted to try different things
9.fasting n prayer, Joined halleluyah challenge, carried my bump in faith n praises.
10. The miracle happened that first cylcle after preparing for 6 months. Waited for like a week to test and VOOM 2 bold red lines.
For those still in waiting, Your testimonies are happening sooner in Jesus name. For all our pain n reproaches,we will be conceiving multiple babies.God showed up for me when I was tired n less expecting, will surely bring smiles to our faces soon. Sisters hang on.Your joy is coming this year. I hope this helps someone. This thread was my strength.

Wow, congratulations ma'am.
The consistency and preparation was topnotch.
Natural remedies work too.
Reading what you did really got me impressed.
Congratulations again.
