55truth: Nigeria has been turned upside down. This is not peculiar to Nigeria 🇳🇬 alone |
Food › Re: Check How Much My Mother Used To Buy Garri And How Much I'm Buying Now by MorataFC: 8:01pm On Jun 23, 2023 |
55truth: Around the mid-90s, I was a little child then still following my mother to the market. My mother was into buying and selling palm oil. I may not remember everything again but I can still remember vividly that before we returned home, she would buy 10 cups of Garri for N10. If it is 15 cups, it would be N15. 20 cups would go for N20. That's N1/cup. That was in stock to serve till the next market day.
As a son of a palm oil seller, against all odds, I have strived to attend education up to tertiary level only to come back and be hit with unemployment, in an economy with throat-cutting inflation. That same Garri that was N1/cup, the attached photo is 6 cups for N500. This is not even enough for one mouth not to talk of several mouths. How did Nigeria become this expensive and difficult for average citizens to survive amidst massive unemployment/underemployment?
The recent removal of fuel subsidy has even worsened the whole situation, making prices of goods and services beyond the reach of the common citizens.
"Can the poor breathe please?"
I am an applicant with mouths to feed, finding it difficult to survive each day. And as a Nigerian living in Nigeria, can I at least breathe until I get a job or find capital to start a business and things become better?
Undoubtedly, millions of Nigerians are in my shoes, and even worst. This is evident in the Nigerian streets.
Yahoo, kidnapping, money rituals, etc are not meant for everybody but unfortunately, the youth are being pushed into it due to the state of the economy. Note: I'm not in any way in support of the aforementioned.
In Tinubu's voice, I would say, please,
"LET THE POOR BREATH". "DON'T SUFFOCATE THEM".
And on behalf of unemployed Nigerian youths, WE WANT TO BREATHE. DO WELL TO HELP THE UNEMPLOYED WITH A JOB AND ANY OTHER SUPPORT. That is not true, in mid '90 a rubber or kongo of garri is N1.50 a cup should be less than the quoted value |

Obinoscopy: Enlighten me We will send our disgruntled academy players who want to play active football to Strasbourg instead of selling them cheap, and after they have matured and have the talent to play for Chelsea, then we can recall them back to the senior team. They are lots of academy players we have lost to another team just because they want to play regular football and yet they can't for their time to fit-in into the main team. |

raumdeuter: I think Barcelona of those years were more fearful, Many teams gave up before even stepping on the field. With Man City you still get a feeling like you have a chance against them, See Inter had more chances than them, Bayern had some chances as well.
With Barcelona those years, your leg will barely touch the ball. The 2 finals Barcelona played was a stroll in the park, they totally dominated it.
Regarding who will win, Its hard to say, Man City will have to play on the counter against that Barcelona side and hope they dont concede basketful before they even have a chance Yeah that's why I said I prefer "which is better" to against "Who wins" Anybody can win but Barca of 2011 is better. |

ThierryJay: This will always be a subjective question. However, majority of the informed football ecosystem generally regard Barca 2008 - 2011 as the zenith of quality club football of all time simply because they displayed an unprecedented level of technique and domination of opponents never seen before at that level.
On the national team front, Brazil 1970 and Spain 2008 - 2012 are generally considered the greatest. I think raumdeuter is Ọ̀dádá he set a JAMB question and disappears into thin air without contributing a single comment on the issue. Oga, come out from your hiding o, we want to hear yours too. BTW, if you are in a dilemma and you are to choose between two evils, the lesser one will be chosen, So I don't expect any Chelsea fan to support or give Barca any encomium for that feat from 2008-11 judging by what transpired between the two clubs, but without being biased, I don't think any club can have a complete team like that of Barca's 2008-2011 in this era. raumdeuter: Hypothetical Barcelona 2011 Man City 2023
Who wins The question should be 'Which is better' |

raumdeuter: Hypothetical Barcelona 2011 Man city 2023
Who wins Barca 2011 is fire, but I still feel that the man city of two seasons ago ( aside from the inclusion of Haaland) is still better than this one, don't let this treble winning deceive us. |
