Have those political parties meet the minimum threshold in terms of electoral performance as required by Section 225A of the 1999 Constitution (as amended)? That is the discussion we should be having and not talking about who is supplying your weed.

Smoking weed or not is irrelevant to this discussion. The constitution is a guide for the survival of our democracy. If we want to continue as a democracy, we must always abide by the provisions of the constitution. So, those parties must prove they have met the requirement or they will get deregistered. By the way, this is not the first time political parties will be deregistered in Nigeria. It has been done before and it will still be done as the need arises.
So in your obviously biased opinion APC is abiding by rule and tenets of democracy? How is consensus instead of competition a pillar of democracy?
Does APC have internal democracy on the party?
Th APC is the most irresponsible party and have flouted the electoral act several times. For instance the started campaigning solve 2024 and Tinubu gigantic campaign billboards and posters for 2027 were everywhere

But of course one certain Seum chose not to see that because he's supporting the government for mainly tribal reasons

Toolegit123:
Good day my Nairaland fam.

Please, matured minds in the house,is it a good thing for a man to help his ex girlfriend who's now married, financially. She used to be someone whom I loved so dearly in the past but unfortunately, she broke up with me immediately she met someone who was already asking her hand in marriage. It's been over 3 years since she got married and I made sure I cut every bit of communication between us. Out of the blue,I don't know who gave her my number. She called me,and apologized for what she did to me. Even before she could ask for my help,I already knew her husband wasn't financially buoyant like I thought. She said she wants to open a provision store ,cuz immediately after they got married, they relocated to Lagos. And she asked for my assistance.

So,I don't know if it's appropriate at all to help her, considering how she left me emotionally stranded when I needed her the most in my life. Tho I've completely moved on with my life, but receiving a call from her brought back a whole lot of memories.

Please,my fellow Nairalanders, reason with me. Should I help her out?
Women make these decisions every time and not all tends to work out well. But do you blame them? I don't because Thier nature is designed to get married earlier to avoid being a laughing stock when diminishing returns sets in

So if you have the money or any measure you can help, kindly do. She might have thought over it again and again and also weighed her options before reaching out to you because she knew you have a good heart and that's a compliment. It defines how properly you treated the relationship.

Your heart has already told you what to do...do it

Ok. Some things can be up for debate but the language of old Benin city is not. It was a Yoruba dialect just like Itsekiri or Ijesa. Benin city had a population of around 50k people and Yoruba used to be the lingua franca. Somehow the city lost its population probably due to emigration and new people entered the city. More or less the same thing almost happened to Warri.
My research enquiries doesn't support this

I am not talking of the present Benin kingdom but the capital of the empire which existed on the same site. What exactly do you disagree with?

I think the right form of government is the party to be paying the law makers from dues collected from members and the lawmakers should be older people over 50 and any professional body, trade union and etc with due paying members should be able to field candidates that they will pay by themselves if those people need to be paid. Only the executive should be paid salaries. Other people should have their source of income and any sitting allowance should be paid by their parties for those who need it
I totally agree with your view on the emoluments of public servants like legislators.

My disagreement is vast as per precolonial Nigeria. It will take a robust debate to share our views so we can find common grounds and trace sources of our information where we disagree upon

Have a blessed week bro

Yes SW as a whole not Lagos alone can't be more than 5-7 percent non Yoruba and there are no none Yoruba Lagos indigenes except the Egun who are more or less Yoruba. The Egun are Fon and only differ from the Yoruba in language. Can you point at an example of a Lagos island indigene that is not a Yoruba? Then Benin city of the empire is not the Benin city of today. The Benin of today can not communicate with Warri or Akure without speaking English but the old Benin spoke Yoruba with them. Also the present Benin is even today surrounded by Yoruba speaking settlements and even the non Yoruba speaking settlements around there still speak Yoruba. Benin city was Yoruba and the Benin that went to Lagos were Yoruba people that bore Yoruba names and spoke Yoruba. I wonder why many refuse to acknowledge this. The people in the city today used to live in the suburbs. Then where did you see Ilaje people that say they are not Yoruba? In the past say 1910 they would have said so but not today. However there was no time they did not know that they were the same people with the rest of the Yoruba just that it was only the Oyo that was called Yoruba while others used their own identities and outsiders called everybody Aku, Olukunmi, Anago and etc and we called ourselves Omo olofin, Omo Oduduwa or omo ile Kaaro oojire before adopting the Yoruba label given by the British for convenience. It does not mean we were formed into one people by outsiders. The Oyo empire stretched to Ghana and we were aware of ourselves and knew there were other people different from us. There were always none Yoruba in our markets.

I am not saying there are no minorities but Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo are more than forty percent of total and infact Yoruba and Hausa alone constitute a simple majority. I however believe all minorities should control their territory and have autonomy no matter their population. If it were the civilians creating states according to the rules laid down at independence then all minorities would have been ok today with at least their own police. State creation by the military though a good idea was done arbitrarily and everybody is now fighting for more states with no rules on how states should be created since they must be equally represented at the Senate and even the house of rep seat allocation is arbitrary. Those are the issues.
There is a minority problem which will be solved immediately we agree indigenous people have right over their traditional territory that they held for millennia before colonisation
I strongly disagree with your opinion about the Benin Kingdom but that's not to dispute your historical perspective. We all read different books and some authors are filled with misrepresentation. I also read memoirs and journals of explorers and early church clerics.

I wish we could have this civil discussion in a roundtable and everyone present their facts for scrutiny

One thing I agree with you is that we are not ready for state creation due to the greed from the political class. In My opinion, until we make politics less attractive and just a vocation were parliamentarians are paid just sitting allowances and the executive placed on a minimum wage... only then will the interest in state creation be about developmental purposes and cultural identity
CelebritiesRe: Otas Evbuomwan Under Fire For Bigotted Posts About Yoruba Women. by Morizo(m): 4:16pm On Apr 11

I used NIN to determine the population of states by comparing them to Lagos. Lagos is like 23 million and the whole of SW over 55 million. There are still ethnic Yoruba land in Edo, Delta, Kwara and Niger. The total is easily over 70 million and non indigenes will be max of 5 to 7 percent because of Lagos. In other places apart from Lagos they are less than 3 percent.

SE is eighty percent of Lagos by NIN which makes their population like 19 million. Igbo land in in Delta North, Rivers and etc will take it to 25 million

NW minus Southern Kaduna is Hausa homeland and that will be around 60 million people or less by using NIN as well to compare them with Lagos.

NIN, voters registration, internet subscribers, active SIMs are all valid data that can be used to estimate population
What you wrote above is overestimation by a wide stretch. How can you say minority is just 5 - 7 percent in Lagos? That alone shows you are just quoting figures to support a fallacious point of view.

Do you really know what is the minority question in Nigeria?

You mean in an estimated 250 million tribes and just 7 percent in Lagos? One of the first sellers of Lagos is a minority tribe from the Benin Kingdom. You should read about the old empires in Nigeria so you know that it's the military Dictatorships that concentrated resources in the majority tribes. A minority Anthony Enahoro moved the motion for self determination in 1957.

That alone should tell you where the minorities lie politically before the 1966 coup that brought th shake up

I repeat again, the minorities put together are far more than the three major tribes in population, land mass and natural resources. Go write that down and research

Even within the three majority tribes there are ethnic minorities who are suppressed. In the south west Ondo we have some ethnic minorities like the Ilajes and others. So with other states in Hausa, Ibo and yorubas. But there's no majority tribe trapped within the minority States.

The military states creation is also responsible for some issues because boundaries were not delineated according to ethnic groups in many places but by connection to the Head of State then...hence most minorities were trapped with the majority
Southern Kaduna is just one of many minority tribes in Southern Kaduna. What about the Nupes?

People living on Yoruba land 70 million plus
Igbo land 25 million plus.
Hausa land 60 million plus

Total over 155 million. Explain how they are not up to forty percent of 220 million.

Don't tell me other people live on those lands because other people live on every land
Those statistics are flawed and be bold to name a source.

But nonetheless you said "people living in" those lands not people indigenous to those lands.

Please research my submission. The minorities in Nigeria are more and also resourceful. For example, Southern Kaduna people and Taraba and Plateau across to Nupes, Kogi ethnicities, down to the old Ogoja region and entire south south are all in the minority equation by strictly tribe

A lot of minorites speak the majority language as a second dialect but are not in anyway related in a major sense. In some cases their lands were invaded and their culture suffered subjugation as in the case of the North.

There are books you can read on the minority question and browse the interviews of the late Edwin Clarke and MT Mbu of blessed memories

Hausa, Igbo and Yorubas are way less than 40 percent of the Nigerian population by ethnic configurations. Other tribes get abused too especially by the so called three main tribes.

I am tired of Hausa Igbos and Yorubas making everything interesting country about them and they are very terrible in governance and have kept us underdeveloped since independence

The bitter seed was sown by the Yoruba demon that impregnated her. She probably went through hell with the relationship and came out reborn as an anti Yoruba crusader. But she will heal as her daughter grows into womanhood

But nothing excuses her extreme verbal bigotry against an ethnic group. But as a country this is where we are now...ethnic acrimony and religious divisions enshrined by the political class to keep us subjugated

Adenike Ajoke @ashantewa1

The said Adenike is no different from Otas she's trying to call out for bigotry. Her posts smells coated tribalism and she's using this opportunity to drive the an ethnic wedge between Yorubas and others. She could call her out better to portray her cultural relativism.

Otas might have been provoked by someone from the Yoruba ethnic group but that doesn't excuse her bigotry and cultural myopia towards the Yorubas, a wonderful people with a beautiful culture.

Finally all tribes are equal and no culture is supreme to the other. Generally I condemn rituals and other parts of African culture that infringes on people's rights and privacy. But our cultural celebrations in Africa are top notch.
