I have never been a fan of Jerry Eze. This country is so full of con men and con women using religion to brainwash the sheep they call followers.

Logically it doesn't make sense shouting fire every 7am on your phone and assume or believe it will trigger a universal power to solve your problems. If your problems are solved then it's a natural coincidence based on efforts you had put in or someone with the means deliberately did it to align your beliefs to reality.

I strongly believe in God almighty who sits in heaven and the spirituality of life. I believe our good works on earth with a genuine heart are stronger prayers than shouting and disturbing others from sleeping in their houses. Most especially, i believe being a Humanist and showing kindness to everyone is God's love in action. Live simply and never hurt anyone. That's demonstrating God's works in my opinion.

As the campaign for 2027 presidential election kicked off, Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the ADC, has ignited a very troubling conversation by suggesting he would return fuel subsidy if elected.

While the suggestion is populist, like most people have described it, and appealing to the ignorant masses who do not understand the dynamics of macroeconomics, there’s need to educate the electorate against such proposition.

First, returning fuel subsidy means returning to square one of what successive governments have been trying to solve before Tinubu eventually damned all consequences to remove it.

If you return subsidy today, agreed their might be some temporary relief for the masses as the price of fuel might drop drastically, and with it the price of transportation and basic commodities in the short term, in the medium and long term, Nigeria will simply return to the Egypt that it is currently trying to exit.


What I mean is this…. After about 6 months paying subsidy, government finances will begin to strain. The money going to State Governments will reduce from what it currently is, and with time, States will start finding it difficult to pay salaries again.

Then in the long term, government will, all over again, begin the campaign for fuel subsidy removal to free up funds.

After some years, another president that is not Atiku will come and decide that fuel subsidy is no longer sustainable, again, and we will hear that evil phrase again - “subsidy is gone.”

Do I need to tell you what will happen again?

Fuel prices will skyrocket again.

Cost of transportation will balloon again.

Prices of basic commodities will start flying again.

And then what? We return to this current situation that Atiku is proposing to save us from; all over again.

So, before you jump to support Atiku, think it through.

The mistake you are going to make in jumping to support Atiku because he’s promising to return fuel subsidy is the same mistake that some Nigerians made in 2012 by joining political jobbers to protest against Jonathan when he removed subsidy during his presidency.

What later happened? The same person that led that protest became president 12 years later and removed the same subsidy that he led ignorant people to protest against.

So, before you support Atiku, ask yourself if you want Nigeria to keep running round a circle or to move on from every stage and hurdle we have crossed?

The effect of fuel subsidy removal is biting hard, admitted, but the solution is not to return it, rather we should continue to bear it until we achieve equilibrium. That way, we are sure we and our children are never going to have to suffer the effects of subsidy removal again.

Why are we suffering when there's nothing to show except the political elites living like kings and queens. Lets live the now and survive today first cos there's no better future as far as APC is concerned, it's only going to get worse for others but very good for them and their cronies.

I will vote for Atiku for simply that reason. Every single country in the world subsidises one thing or the other.

A massive fire broke out at the SPAR Mall in Calabar, Cross River State, with the shopping complex reportedly affected.

The cause of the fire remains unknown at the time of reporting which raises serious questions about the state of emergency response in the city.

Reports indicate that only one fire truck arrived to respond to the blaze, despite the fire service being just about five minutes away. For a major commercial complex of this size, the response has left many residents questioning whether enough resources are being provided to the fire service or they have enough willpower.

This is not simply about blaming firefighters on the ground. Firefighters can only work with the equipment, vehicles, personnel and funding available to them. The bigger question is whether the government is doing enough to ensure that the fire service is properly equipped and prepared before disasters happen, if enough oversight or inspections are done to prevent things like this happening or if a place like spar was doing enough to prevent and contain fires.

Too often, after major fires, fire service officials are seen coming forward to explain or defend the response. But residents deserve more than explanations after the damage has been done. They deserve a fire service that is adequately funded, equipped and ready to respond when every second matters.

The government needs to treat fire prevention, inspections and emergency response as a priority, not something to discuss only after a major fire makes the headlines.

Fire 🚒 safety drills should be continuous for all staff and casual workers within such a facility.

There should be quarterly safety Training on fire prevention, accident prevention and handling, simple First aid procedures

When Nduka Obaigbena's company was in litigation with First Bank over defaulting on loan taken by his hydrocarbon exploration company but was said to have ended up funding someone's political campaign, wasn't Arise News used to whitewash him? The unfortunate dragging of Otitoju was instigated by one Rufai Oseni, a bitter journalist in Arise News who sees Otitoju as a threat to his rise in the profession.

Rufai Oseni has made it a habit to discredit Babajide Kolade-Otitoju using Twitter and Arise News. Following the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, Rufai Oseni, in a segment of "What's Trending", lied that Otitoju switched positions. Otitoju had said before the declaration that Tinubu had no power to declare a state of emergency and suspend an elected governor. He said Obasanjo had used an antiquated law which would be resisted. After Tinubu's declaration of state of emergency and removing Fubara, Otitoju said Tinubu took him by surprise as no one saw his action coming. He maintained that he was not recanting his earlier position. Yet, Rufai lied. Ojy Okpe had started it by deliberately calling Otitoju "that TVC journalist". Dr Reuben Abati corrected her and told her he had a name and should be properly addressed. Then Rufai Oseni began his evil lies that Otitoju recanted. Abati asked Rufai to explain, Rufai could not point to where Otitoju recanted. Ayo Maero Ese never said a word. She was clearly irritated that Rufai was telling lies on air.

Ojy Okpe and Rufai Oseni sought to use Arise News to destroy Otitoju. They failed. Ojy backed down. But Rufai did not. He believes he can lie to destroy Otitoju. He sees Otitoju as a threat to his relevance.

This case will be settled in a court of law and the court will use the video evidence to pass judgements.

Whatever he did to their sister wasn't recorded so unless there are credible eye witnesses then the case lacks merit. ( I don't condone attack on women and I seriously condemn it)

I have so much respect for you OBO. I know you got involved because it matters to your family in Osun but if other musicians also lend voices to the suffering of the masses in the various states it will trigger a Consciousness.

In past there was Fela, Mandators, Ras Kimono, Maxwell Udoh, Charlie Boy (till date ), Sonny Okosun, Femi Kuti, Tuface (till he chickened out) and many others who used their craft to arouse national and political consciousness in the masses.

I still listen to their songs till date and sometimes it feels like they are referring to the present crooks in government. Hopefully we have reached Harlem's end with Tinubu and will have to start producing true nationalists in leadership positions.

Musicians have power to reawaken the masses as we saw with Brenda Fasi, Lucky Dube and Yvonne Chaka Chaka during apartheid in SA which kep the people united under one voice
