Lessons learnt;

1. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse. Assuming Uche and others were innocent, being ignorant of the law has put them in greater trouble.

2. There is this PSA all over the tv when I was young. It was sensitising people of the danger of accepting or giving lift to strangers. Now, I have to take that information seriously before good deed turns bad. Accepting lift from strangers has caused that guy his life (assuming he was murdered in the bus). Also, giving lift to strangers has put Uche and others in trouble (assuming they were innocent of what led to this guy's death)

May God comfort the family of the deceased. I also pray that Almighty One would not allow the innocent to suffer unjustly.

Actually, the problem started in 1986 when exchange rate moved from N0.86 to N2.02 - a depreciation of over 130%.

Did you all noticed that the gap between the exchange rate from 2000-2014, suddenly doubled in 2015?

Crime / Re: Girlfriend Of MC Chinedu Paul Think Twice Mistaken For Badoo Cult Member Writes by morounkola(f): 8:36am On Jul 04, 2017
I once happened to witness a conversation where someone supported jungle justice for thieves. The respect I had for that man dropped that day. Until some months later when I was attacked just some few distance from where policemen were exhorting money from motorists. I was dispossessed of items worth thoudands of naira and I was stabbed - a scar I still carried till date. That day, my pespective about jungle justice changed. The expression made by that man "that a thief does not have good intentions towards you why should you be metciful to him" made sense to me.

I have been robbed both on the road and in my house on several ocassions since then. My car had been vandalised but I still do not support jungle justice.

But look at the trauma living in that environ face daily.
Your home is supposed to be a place of succor after going through the hustle of making daily bread. Their homes provide no such protection as someone can come in and kill them in their sleep. The justice system has failed people on several ocassions.

I am not living in that area neither was I a witness to the case at hand but the coincidence dey too much abeg.

May God continue to protect us and our loved ones

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Dear Applicant, I Don’t Think You Really Wanted That Job! Recruiter Vs Appl. WAR by morounkola(f): 6:27pm On Jun 19, 2017
Just as the Op wrote - you do not really need the job!!

hayoakins:
See response/comments below grin

Dear Recruiter,
i got your mail about an interview when i was out of the country and i instantly mailed you to tell you and to crave for your indulgence in rescheduling me for only a couple of days later when i will be back..... I never got ANY mail in the affirmative or otherwise. I even went further to call the number of the HR person attached to the signature of the mail- it was unavailable that day and the days that followed! What else should i have done??! Plus the mail you sent me included the trail of the ones you sent to other applicants as well!

Oh and Dear Applicant,
I've literarily been looking for you with binoculars for weeks now after you were suppose to come pick up your offer letter which i called you in good time to inform you and find out when you will be available to come pick it up, to which we agreed on a particular time and day of the week. Two weeks later, am still waiting for your call, for you to even pick mine or at least send me a mail or an sms. NOTHING! Even if you had a change of mind after our last discussion, you should have found a way to let me know. I don't think you really want this job.

Dear Recruiter,
hank you for your call, but honestly you called at a wrong time because I received no prior notification that I would be called anytime after 5pm or even on a weekend, and when you asked if it was a good time to talk, I was too terrified to say no for fear of you not calling back. Apologies for not being prepared.

Dear Recruiter,
I was so excited that I fit all that you required. I wrote a beautiful cover letter and in my excitement hit the 'send' button without attaching my CV. Oh, common Recruiter, you should have given me one more chance, I really am the best I said I am, but yes, one of my weaknesses is that I am human, so human, that I did not realise my error until the next day. In my rush, just so that I do not miss the beautiful opportunity you present, I attached my CV, and hit the 'send' button again. Alas!! Another error of me being human! I forgot to write the subject! I forgot to apologise! And again I forgot to rewrite my beautiful cover letter! Oh! When would I ever get called now!

I think you missed the point. The point is that, they did not achieve the fact because they have ibo names.
So their supposed igbo blood has nothing to do with it. They did it because they have the talent and live in an environment that is devoid of ethnic bigotry that you are promoting.

I doubt if those girls would agreed to be called igbo-americans. Rather, they would prefer to be addressed as Americans.

vantage001:

They are igbo-americans. Just the same way you have latino-americans.
The igbo ethnicity predates your Nigerian nation and is permanent.

Keep deceiving yourself! Those girls are Americans who happen to have ibo names. They were able to achieve that feat because they are in a society where talent is appreciated and not where people keep bragging about how their tribe/ethnic group is the best.

I wish people could channel the energy being used in championing tribal e-war to more productive things that add real value to human existence.

The coward later begged and returned to Nigeria for his old Nigerian military rank and pension.

Even when the coward died, the same Nigerian flag and the symbol of the country he foolishly fought draped over his coffin straight into his grave.

Another clown and even a bigger coward is ready to lead you down the same destructive path.

How can you forget so soon? What were Gani Fawehinmi, Femi Falana, Wole Soyinka, Odumakin fighting for that time? Even Bola Tinubu, Dele Momodu and Fayemi sef. Some of them were jailed! The whole country was boiling then. Strikes and fuel scarcity were the order of the day.

We were and are still grateful to God that the situation did not degenerate into a civil war.

Truth be told, I expected more from Ojukwu. What he did could not be called "tactical retreat" but corwardice and selfishness. He led his people into a senseless and needless war.

Sometimes, I really wish the Igbos would really get the Biafra they crave. I would like to see how "developed"
it would really be.

Proudly Nigerian and I believe in one Nigeria

BuariCopyPaste:

It is better to start a fight and make a tactical retreat than to commit suicide without the actual fight taking place.

It amounts to sheer cowardice for a man who truly won an election to be seized and locked up and eventually murdered alongside his wife without his people protesting.

The lady will not be submissive, not because she got a car wedding gift from her father, but because she lacks proper home training. There are so many women who did not get such gifts and still, are not submissive.
olaife80:
The gift should be for the couple and not for his daughter. The FIL can only do that when his daughter is not yet married. This is not about Ego or the husband can't afford it, this is about the FIL respecting the new family. When there is misunderstanding the lady would be high on it. To me such lady won't be submissive but a mature Man should know to handle such not by breaking up.

Come let me tell you something, the person that thought of investing that money in a hotel is lazy and myopic is in his thinking. There are better business ideas that would generate better returns, have far-reaching impact and create enduring business

I want to ask you a question. Are you saying it is okay for politicians to embezzle government funds as far as the stolen funds are invested in the country?

skedman:
i am not supporting the governor for stealing the treasury but the fact that he has invested it in nigeria however,it is a plus. All these half baked graduate on nairaland employment opportunities is not just the staffs alone it include the contractors that built the hotel who may have more than 50 staffs, the sand suppliers, borehole, aluminium, and lots more and when the hotel is finally ready the diesel suppliers, fish, turkey, chicken suppliers , the market people at large ,apprentice and many others will benefit . Can you now tell me the jobs it must have created for the people . I think most of you are lazy and your brain is only limited to being a staff and not a supplier nor a contractor.

These girls have been away from their loved ones for two years. Some of them might been raped, some might have died. They probably would have gone through mental and/or physical torture. They would have gone through experiences that would make some of them doubt the existence of God.

At this what the girls need is rehabilation to re-orientate them to society. The media will tear" them girls to pieces with the unnecessary meddling. Also the girls would be faced with a high level of stigmatisation which might lead some of them to

If you believe that the kidnap was a scam, I will like you to ponder on these questions;

1. Are you saying that the people behind the scam are damn good and have been able to convince everybody including the International communities except you - the smart one!

2. If any of the girls happen to be your daugther, sister, cousin or niece, would you still have felt this same way about this issue?

3. The various kidnappings that happened before and after the Chibok girls, were they scams too?

You need to visit the north then you will understand that the level of education there is poor. Even their graduates can't express themselves clearly.
My ZI gave sone corp members query for not being at their duty posts. The man could not make any sense of their responses and had to call them for questioning. He was not surprised when he learnt they came from and schooled in the North.
That was in 2005, so imagine what the situation would be now.

Good try! I like but I will like to point out some things.
1. Mojisola Onikoyi is not in Banana Island. It is off Banana Island.
2. These Ikoyi flats were designed to be luxury. The only things local about them are the parcel of land they were built upon and the labourers. You cannot compare the price of a property handled by fine n country to these ones you displayed here.
You can't get these prices in Ocean Parade Towers in Banana Island and it was even built by ITB not a foreign company.
