We Yoruba can't raise a finger if the North says they want to continue in Aso rock post-2023. If the Yoruba makes too much noise and cry for it. The same northerners will remind yoruba that Obj has taken their turn.
We Yorubas also shout 'power is taken, not given'. Therefore the north has the right to TAKE IT! They have all the cards, so the yoruba should not lament when the north TAKES IT. Afterall power is TAKEN as yorubas claim, and rotational presidency is not backed by constitution.

2023 will be interesting. May Allah keep us alive.

Yoruba are not jealous of Eboes. Yoruba are indifferent to them. Deep down we see them as politically disorganized and culturally uncivilized. That is the bitter truth. We prefer to have Regional government. If we do we generally mind our business. Yoruba would not go to Enugu and start looking for how to become Mayor.
So in reality we have greater affinity with the Hausa and Fuani than Eboes politically. We do some other things well together especially crime but not politics. We are parallel lines politicallly and the only way we can operate is if the Eboes accept Yoruba as their leaders which they are too proud to do and yet they have no serious political thinkers.

My dear Yoruba Muslim brother, I think there will be peace if yorubas accept Igbos as their natural leader, the way Canadians, Polish, Italians, UK, Americans, Vatican are accepting Igbo Diaspora politicians and voting the Igbos to lead them. Towards Igbo-Yoruba Unity and Coalition

I am honestly dismayed by the apparent display of gross "self-centredness" and "myopicness" of Igbos and Yorubas on Nairaland.

The only thing I know is wrong with these two tribes is the Rivalry of who is the greatest tribe between. Both tribes claim sound Education, Intelligence, Commerce, Industry, Exposure and Ability unfortunately, the game of division is making the two tribes "Stupidly Foolish".

The Hausa/Fulani seem to understand this division and hence use it to their own advantage even though they are considered as inferior. They have even come out boldly to announce that 2023 still belong to them and by all common sense, they are correct.

Why can't the Igbos and Yorubas unite for once? In 2023, Tinubu or Oshinbajo would want to be President. A minimum of 27 Igbo politicians would want to be President. The East and West votes would be fragmented. The North usually vote in a block. I think you can see the obvious answer.

My submission.
1. Let the Yorubas forget the presidency for 2023 but let the Igbos nominate about 6-8 candidates for the West to choose whom to support amongst them.
2. Let the East support whoever of the lot the West adopt.
3. Finally, let the coalition work upon the Middle belt and the Minorities in the North.

I honestly think that its high time we had an Igbo president for the progress of this country.
Nothing else will work except this coalition is made to work. Peace.

My brother this is a wonderful write up, which I applaud so much. Naturally, the two tribes should be best allies politically (they are already best allies socially) but the spirit of backwardness, rancour and bitterness no go gree dem. It is either yorubas shouting "we will never vote Ibo president', with Ibos claiming they also throw spanner in the wheels of a Yoruba presidential aspiration. Na who dey gain and who dey lose?

The Igbos have mended fences with the SS and both have been voting in the same pattern since 1999, the missing link here is the Yoruba which join the majority south and form a powerful Southern bloc as campaigned for by Bode George and Afenifere in the 2006 southern conference in Enugu, hosted by Gov. Chimaroke Nnamani.

In Imo State for example Uche Nwosu won APC governorship primaries but it was deliberately denied him and given to an unpopular candidate. The Governorship election proper was also won by same Uche Nwosu who represented APC using AA as a platform but false result was deliberately read out and his representatives intimidated into submission at collation center. Even right there on national TV a PDP agent tore a result sheet but it was handled like nothing happened and a candidate who couldn't get 1/3rd votes in 2/3rd of LGAs was declared elected using falsely inflated votes in only 3 LGAs.

In Orlu Senatorial election Okorocha easily won it to their surprise and they tried to smuggle out the returning officer to go to Owerri and announce fake result which the people resisted and they used the lie of duress to withhold a clearly won and declared election all in a bid to fight their only light in Southeast.

I've never seen where a ruling party is fighting hard to make sure they don't win what they deserve all because they want to deny Igbos 2023 Presidency. In the end Northerners will never support Tinubu over Igbo Presidency because Northerners are just.

(2) Igbos prefer unitary system but unitary system requires an ENFORCER, a position currently held by the NORTH. Igbos won't clamor for SECESSION if they held the position of enforcer of this system. (3) Igbos want un-restricted access to markets in West and north, unitary system make this more achieveable. Therefore, IN PRACTICE they would continue to support the perptuation of unitary system with their VOTES/ALLIANCES. (4) In conclusion, the real obstacle to achieving restructuring through political means is Igbo's phobia for REGIONALISM.

We Yoruba should vote for Ibo president, if we can't do that, we must shut up our ewedu-stained mouth and keep quiet and enjoy Almajiri rule in the spirit of Allahu!
