Sorry for the inconvenience does one have to secure admission before applying for these scholarships?

Yes. You'll need to get an admission to a private or public school in Germany before you apply or before any foundation consider you for a scholarship. Because in your application, you'll be asked to either submit your admission letter or your certificate of enrollment for that current semester. Among other documents to submit is your CV, Letter of Motivation and recommendations and others. But some of these documents are not mandatory

When I once asked a question about booking for an appointment when I was new to all this, she literally frustrated me and told me to go to the website and figure things out over there. She said something else and I told her to repeat herself cos I couldn’t hear her properly!! Could you believe she hanged up the call on me. Lol

Can someone call the embassy to ask when he or she is expecting appointment date after waiting for a year.

Yes you can.
But what they might tell you won’t be promising at all. Just the usual “for you category, it’s clearly stated in the website that it takes a year and more to get an appointment date”
Lol.. believe me. I’ve tried.

Even though its a non profit organization, it'll still fly for CAT for instance Erasmus scholarship is funded by the EU yet it qualifies for CAT A. Please let the other guy with 250 Euro scholarship and blocked account book CAT A.

I did call the embassy today and they said no amount is too low, in other words, the scholarship can come in any amount, as long as it’s from a German organization and I have a blocked account or letter of sponsorship to cover up my cost of living. So literally, the scholarship is just a ticket to be qualified for Category A.
Thank you so much for your response Silva. I really do appreciate 🙏🏽❤️

Hello guys,
please I wish to enquire about getting an interview date for a Visiting Visa( Schengen visa ) to Germany. Has someone here gotten any idea of when to expect the release of New Dates on the website ?? I have been checking for appointment dates in vain for a while now. Thank you.

There are dates actually.
It’s not like this in other African countries. Nigeria is just the problem cos we’re the only country that students or other individuals have to wait for eternity before given an appointment date.

Please book CAT A ASAP. She qualifies since her scholarship is from an organization in Germany. Since she has a Sponsorship letter too, that would makeup for the remaining 434 Euro per month.

My thoughts too.
And thank you so much for your response. I really appreciate. But before I tell her this, won’t the embassy question her as she got the scholarship from a non profit organization? Or they’ll just go ahead with the interview since she also have a sponsorship letter. Cos I have another colleague who was given a €250 scholarship per month till the end of his studies and he also have a blocked account but he doesn’t know if he should apply for category A since he also got it from a non profit organization. Although he booked for category B since last year December

Hey guys,

Please I have a question, regarding a friend of mine with her visa appointment. She recently got an admission to public school in Germany and was also given a German scholarship from a non profit organization worth €500 per month till the end of her studies and to support that, she also have her letter of sponsorship.

Now she’s thinking of booking an appointment for category A. The embassy in Germany do not have a problem if she got the scholarship from a private or public fund because so many people have applied for visa without having any scholarship and are in Germany today. Obviously the German embassy in Nigeria must ask if it’s public or private but if she says public, I wonder if they’ll call the scholarship organization and ask or if they’ll just go along with the interview since the scholarship worth a maximum of €500 per month and for the fact she also have a letter of sponsorship and all necessary documents. Cos this whole thing is about taking risks which might actually pay off at the end.

Please how does she go about this now that she has been awarded the scholarship?
I’d appreciate a response regarding this.

Thanks.

It has to be added. Every semester records has a CGPA and that should be added.

All right. Thank you so much.

The essence of a transcript is to see the record of courses taken and your performance in them.
When you have your CGPA, then you convert to a German scale. Google that.

Meaning I can actually calculate the CGPA myself and convert it to that of the German grading scale even though the CGPA wasn’t added to the transcript right?

Hello guys,
Please is it mandatory that one’s CGPA must be included to their first year university transcript, even though the transcript is just for 100 level?
It already has the grades and credit units.
Because the way we calculate our GPA and CGPA is different from the German grading system.
Please I’d appreciate a response to this.

Good day Everyone,
Please I've got a younger brother who wants to process his visa to Germany. he just finished secondary school, I've done some research but am still confused with the following points.

* is it possible to get a travel visa to study the German language first before moving to a public university for a bachelor's degree?
* Do public universities offer bachelor courses in English
* Do I pick CAT 1 or 2 during appointment booking for bachelor's degree admission?
* Does anyone know any private university to consider for bachelor's degree in Germany.

Thank you all for your assistance.

Hello,
In regards to your question!!

For the first one, Yes, it’s actually possible but only on rare cases though. I know a friend who moved through the language course route but that was two years ago. But I don’t think it happens often anymore because you can actually learn the language here in Nigeria.

To your second question, Yes, lots of public universities actually offer bachelor’s courses in English. Try visiting the website - “MyGermanUniversity.com” and click on the three row lines at the top on the right hand side of the website and you’ll see the “Study Finder” link. Click on it and some list of schools offering bachelors and masters courses taught in English will appear. Go to the filter button and makes some changes and choose schools that you can apply directly without using Uni-assist and no tuition fess. And those schools will appear to you, also go to the school’s website and also do some research regarding their requirements.

For your third question, you’re to book an appointment for the CATEGORY B if you’re studying a course to pursue a Bachelors degree. But the waiting period to be given an appointment date is more than a year, unless you apply for a German funded scholarship while having an admission to a public or private school, then you can book for an appointment for the CATEGORY A. You can find some open scholarship at “myStipendium.de”

And for your last question just follow the same process I gave for the second question you asked. But the problem with private universities is that they pay tuition fees which are REALLY EXPENSIVE. So I’d suggest you go for public universities. But it all depends if you can afford to pay.

Glad I could help.

Getting the deutschlandstipendium scholarship (€300/month) qualifies you for Cat A. But I've heard in cases like this, you'll need to block the remaining amount required i.e (€934-€300)/month when coming for interview.

But what if it’s €200 per month, does it still qualifies someone for Cat A even though they still have a letter of sponsorship as support?

The only clause is that the scholarship must be from Germany public fund/ Germany recognized organization…. I don’t think the amount your scholarship worth on OP case is a determinant, as long as you are going to bring in your Sponsorship letter or Blocked Account. ( your actual means of sustenance) whereby the scholarship is just a means for you to switch from cat B to cat A.

I hope you understand me.

Hey buddy! About the scholarship, are private German public fund included? You know we have both State and Private German foundations that offers scholarship to international student. I read on the website that you’ll either need a blocked account, a letter of sponsorship or a scholarship from a German public fund to fund your studies.

So if one is given a scholarship worth €500 per month for two years or till the ending period of studies, do they still need a blocked account or letter of sponsorship?

Any scholarship that is below €850-750 and below one year, you are not qualified for category A

But generally, as a bachelors student I am qualified to apply for a scholarship and if given book for an appointment under the Category A right?

What’s up guys! Please I have a question.

Can a bachelors student apply for a scholarship and book for an appointment under category A?
And secondly if given a scholarship that only lasts for 2 years with a payment of €200 per month or a scholarship of €400 per month that only last for six months and can be renewed for another six months till the ending period of study when you submit a new enrollment certificate and proof of academic records of the previous semester!! With that can a bachelors student book for an appointment under category A?

So my people.. I applied for appointments July 14th 2022, and deferred my admission to summer 2023. From the look of things my appointments date might not come before Sept. And if is to come it will be Sept probably to be interview October, that means I'm still going to miss this year summer admission. Kindly suggest what I should do, am I to write to the embassy and explain this way to them? This has been disturbing me, since I saw people who applied January 2022 just getting appointments. Thanks

Hey buddy,

In my own case, I didn’t defer my admission.

I got an admission for the summer semester 2023 and I booked for an appointment 2 months ago. I knew I’ll be called probably next year for my interview, so I wrote my school about the whole visa delay thing and they told me I can resume classes any time when I arrive in Germany as long as I keep on enrolling in each semester till I arrive.

Also, they gave me a certificate from the Office of Admission of Foreign Students to submit to the Embassy confirming that my letter of admission for this year summer semester will be valid till the 2024/2025 semesters. So I don’t have to worry about submitting an updated letter of admission when I’m going for my interview at the embassy. In other words, this my current letter of admission for the Summer Semester 2023 also serves as a letter of admission for the Winter Semester 2023, Summer Semester 2024 and Winter Semester 2024.

I’d suggest you do the same just incase you can no longer defer your admission. Write your school and tell them about the visa delay in your country and tell them to write a letter for you to submit to the Embassy just like the one my school gave to me.

Thanks

I'm not used to this, but I believe someone may find this helpful.

I booked a visa appointment in Lagos on 29th of April, 2022. I have not gotten an appointment up till now. Frustrated by the delay and stress of following my classes online, I got a resident permit that allowed me attend my visa interview In Ghana.

Had my visa interview in German embassy, Accra on 20th February, 2023. Got an approval mail at about 10am on 17th of March, 2023 and pick my passport with visa stamp on 27th of March, 2023.

I will honestly advise you to explore the possibility of processing your visa outside Nigeria, if you have the means and desire to achieve your Deutschland dream. It comes with sacrifice, my dear!

DM me if you need guidance.

All the best and see you in Deutschland!

P.S. I have cancelled my Lagos appointment to give chance for people who still want to wait for Lagos, even though I feel it doesn't worth the stress.

Why the wait now This is totally unbelievable and it’s really discouraging.

As an intending(prospective) MSC student, do I need to be proficient in German language to apply for MSC in Germany?

I need honest response please!

Hey buddy.
It depends on your course. If the course is taught in German then you’ll need a proof of German language proficiency test result. But if the course is completely taught in English, then you don’t need it.
