now combine eqn (i) and eqn (ii) together and solve for a and d simultaneously..

2a + 9d = 3.............eqn (i)
2a + 19d = 23............eqn (ii)

elimination method; eqn (ii) minus eqn (i),
0 + 10d = 20,
d = 20/10,
d = 2

subtitute for the value of d in eqn (i)
2a + 9d = 3.............eqn (i)
2a = 3 - 9d,
2a = 3 - 9(2),
2a = 3 - 18,
2a = -15,
a = -15/2,
a = -7.5

now a = -7.5 and d = 2..

In view of the registration guidelines
released by the Directorate of
Examination, Admission and Records
(DEAR) I write in my capacity as the
President Students' Union Government
Bayero University, Kano to address
the entire Students.
I wish to call on the attention of all
students to try and beat the
registration period which is set to last
between Monday January 9th-21st
2016 for Fresh Students and Monday
January 16th-21st 2016 for Returning
Students, in a brief discussion with
the Vice Chancellor he explained that
the registration period was made
short due to the fact that the notice is
early, the recent development in the
increased efficiency in the registration
portal and the commitment of the
Universirty to improve the quality of
services. I've though filed a
recommendation seeking for the
extension of the registration period,
yet I advice that prevention is better
than cure.
As usual, I have tried to compel the
University management to reduce the
registration fee, but my effort was
abortive, as a result of reasons beyond
our reach. Nevertheless, we are able
to maintain the normal fee (No
increasement) which is a welcome
development.
I assure all of you, that the mandate
you gave to me will always be
protected. I always serve to the best
of my ability bearing in mind the
supports, contributions, and sacrifices
you made during the entire
electioneering processes, I will always
be committed to building a strong
network of communication and
harmonious relationship between the
Management of the University and
the students, I will always push for
the betterment of our school, I shall
always strive alongside my entourage
to create a more conducive
atmosphere of learning and social
interaction for effectiveness and
efficiency.
