Health / Re: Ipokia Local Government Clinic Ogun Where 10,000 Residents Share 1 Hospital Bed by Moyanbe(m): 2:37pm On Dec 26, 2015
This is one of the major challenge of communities bordering a country or other states.. I have been to this local govt many times. What I see in the morning is school children trekking a distance of abt 2 to 4km to school. Some do ride bicycles and carry their friends and siblings on bicycle. I believe this community have representative at the National Assembly, state Assembly including local govt Council.. Its a shame to their reps in political sphere.
I must also include that majority of them do receive money to vote for aspirants and thus is as a result of their very low level of education and weird beliefs e. g there is a community in the same local govt where you don't use umbrella either it rains or not.
I believe the best solution is to increase the level of literacy and provide basic infrastructures that will benefit the whole local govt.....

Politics / Re: HOW AGRO-INDUSTRILIZATION CAN BE THE "NEW CRUDE OIL" IN NIGERIA by Moyanbe(m): 10:21pm On Dec 24, 2015
How can a governor in his right sense be thinking of profit for himself as a benefit of being the governor. This is so cruel.
Governor with short sightedness
I weep for the citizen
obasiken:
I was part of a team that introduced some foriegn investors to a governor in the south east. They wanted to start a palm plantation and refine the palm oil to meet europe standard before exporting it.

This plantation will employ 2000 people for a start and return about 1.5b per month to the state government. All they needed was land.

The governor asked us how long before ROI (return on investmvent). We told him 6 years cos palm tree takes time to grow. The governor told us he cannot be investing for his successor to come and reap.

Agriculture / Re: The Goldmine In Plantain Farming – Regular Sources Of Income by Moyanbe(m): 9:52pm On Dec 24, 2015
As I have earlier decided to get bk on the performance of the gun sprayers... It was tested on Tuesday but I had challenges and was unable to use it efficiently. The first challenge was that the water source tank is too small(3000litres). I also noticed that the deeper the depth of water source, the higher the performance of the pump and gun sprayer.
The second challenge was that a stand from the tripod broke at the point where it was welded.
Now.. The performance of the gun sprayer
Due to the shallow depth of the tank... It still spray to a radius of 15-20m but I believe when all things have been corrected, it will reach a minimum of 30m radius.
Another thing I noticed was that it was spraying water in form of dew and rain as the whole diameter covered was filled with wet soil. Moreover, something that resembles rainbow colour was formed in the dew like real rainbow in the cloud.
Am still going back to the field to perfect the work as am on the drawing table. For those that need it, I wouldn't want to quote price now cos its under testing and also for ways for the gun sprayer to give its best work. Also considering the local materials involved cos along the line, some may not be needed.
I will keep updating
Happy eid-el-malud
Merry Christmas and Happy new year in advance
Don't forget, irrigation agriculture is a sure way to sustainable agricultural development...

The water pump is powered by diesel. The price for it depends on buyer and seller, I mean bargaining spirit. It wasn't easy getting this one at the rate of 95k cos the sellers are complaining of naira fall as the hike in price. Most of the sellers peg it around 120k.
Just to give additional info... Pls do not look the capacity on the label attached the pump, check the manual cos a lot of those sellers do print those things and place them on the pump thereby defrauding buyers....

Pls how much is the 13hp water pump nd is it fuel or diesel engine. Waiting for the pic

Wow... I love your comment... I think part of farming sustainability is nearness to resources, nearness to market, nearness to source of Labour, capital, and others... This are things that makes agriculture profitable..
Bro... I love your ruggedness

yeah...you are very correct bro...It is best to see every venture as either a success or a lesson rather than see it as a failure when one fails...the second trip was a success....and this made me conclude setting up my own farm somewhere very close to the markets in Lagos to checkmate transportation and risk issues. Thanks for the contribution.

Hello Farmers and stakeholders in the house.

It's been a long time I have check this thread.
Just to make plantain farming more friendly to invest into and also able to solve water challenges on a plantain farm. I device a means of using gun sprayer with a 13hp water pump machine. I sourced for the gun sprayers abroad and build other needed parts here locally. Reason being that I need to save freight cost and price cost. I will be testing the gadget on the field tmr. I believe this will be a cheaper product to invest into. I will get back with pictures from the field tmr. This is also a plan to start planting suckers by January on a new client farm so that the fruit can meet the next dry season for higher profit
Don't starve your plantains and other crops with water... Provide irrigation as soon as possible
Next year weather may be worst than this year.

Thanks for the info.. I have ordered my goods through DHL, though expensive but still worth it. Now am considering using another shipping company. Do any nairalander have any trusted courier service that can shop my product from China. Kindly state it's express delivery charges, contacts and will also like to know if payment for delivery can be made at their office in nigeria. Pls na trusted and and reliable shipping company. I expect your valued replies... One love
salesRep:

For Dhl, you pay upfront and its really expensive but safer.

You can use express service of third party shipping/forwarding agents. Search this thread to find them and read peoples comment to decide which one to use.

Thanks so much for your help. My seller in China also have store in aliexpress.com and she's ready to accept the escrow mode of payment. Also do you mean DHL can accept payment upon delivery?
salesRep:

If you want to get it within 7 days, better use express shipping.

You will pay when your goods get to their office in Lagos.

Not all alibaba suppliers have store on aliexpress and you can also pay alibaba supplier through PayPal if you trust them .

This is a welcome development from me. I believe agriculture have a long way to solve the problems in Nigeria likewise others too. I will implore others to #talktheirown. Am a proud Agricultural student and also practising it as a business and profession. Check my website www.farmlifeng.com Am open to any interested candidate. Meanwhile, I will like to vie for Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.

A think Cutehector has suggested Agriculture which to me is not a bad idea since it will rather amount to keying into Nigeria's Economic cum Revenue generation drive which ofcourse has a great and bright profit inclination given the huge market space before we then diversify into manufacturing and beyond, thus the Dangote syndrome is about to be broken for good #BeyondNYSC

FisifunKododada:
cool Phyno is a fake ni88er - No more Phyno music for me. Mr. Worship White People. Alobam my a$$!!! Idiota.

Two Biafrans were killed during protest - he didn't pray for them.

His Igbo brothers slaughtered by Fulani herdsmen he didn't make a pip.

His Igbo sisters brutally raped by Fulani herdsmen we didn't hear from Phyno

Thousands of Nigerians slaughtered by Boko Haram he didn't do Instagram post.

Thousands of Berom slaughtered by Fulani herdsmen nothing from Phyno.

But now he can't wait to pray for Paris.

WHAT A FVCKING FRAUD. GERROUT OF HERE MEHN

And cool Some of you here who are shouting 'what about bring back our girls?' are MISSING the point. No one is saying the whole world should not commiserate with Paris and France. The point is that our so called celebrities (yeyebrities if you ask me) are too quick to cry over white peoples problem while you will never see them publicly shed light on the murder, carnage, rape and slaughter (via Boko Haram/Fulani herdsmen) that goes on in our country on a daily basis. Basically, PHYNO suffers from low-self esteem. It shows that he values WHITE people's lives over the lives of his fellow Nigerians even his fellow Igbos. When two Biafrans were killed a few days ago, where was the hastag from Phyno? So please don't come here and say we have forgotten about #bringbackourgirls. Grow sense. You think the whites who were saying #bringbackourgirls will keep quiet if those girls where from their country? But our yeyebrities will keep quiet when its Nigerian (or African) lives but will be crying like babies when its European or white lives. In fact, for those of you who have forgotten, MOST of our yeyebrities did not join #bringbackourgirls UNTIL white celebrities started doing it. For example Phyno (and MOST Nigerian celebrities) posted his own #bringbackourgirls after it was popular and after WHITE celebrities were already doing it (This one is for that moran who posted Phyno's #bringbackourgirls post to defend the fool). So STOP defending nonsense. Simply, these our yeyebrities are FOLLOW FOLLOW robots with not originality and self respect.
