Hello VO,

Thank you for all your assistance on nairaland. Please here is our case: over a month ago my self, wife and kid wanted to apply for visas but the first thing I did was to pay our fees and used the receipt to book an appointment. A week to our interview which was yesterday dec 1st, we filled our ds-160 forms and submitted. Later I found out that the barcodes were not going to appear the same so I notified helpdesk about this and was asked to send copies of our confirmation and passports which I did immediately. Days later they sent me a mail that my profile had been updated and everything was fine. Yesterday when we went for our 9:30am appointment my wife and kid were turned back on the ground that their barcodes did not match what they had. And that mine matched and I had an option to be interviewed or forfeit my interview if I wanted to go in as a family. On this ground I will have to pay another fee for my self while I reschedule appointment for my family. This got me demoralised even as I decided to go in for my interview. Obvious this affected my interview and I got refused.

Now I want to get another appointment date for my wife and kid but I do not know how to go about it. I sent an email to helpdesk yesterday but I am yet to get any response. Please how do I get this fixed for my wife and kid??

Yesterday was a very sad day for me, because we got to the consulate very early, my pregnant wife and kid stood the whole time for hours and when we got to that point they were turned back.

Well, I just want them to have an opportunity of being interviewed at the earliest time. I would appreciate your help.

Thank you

Very true! Anybody who believes this election wasn't rigged by both parties does not live in Nigeria. Mass rigging were executed except for a very tiny fraction. So let no one of them scream when the results are finally announced because it will mean they didn't get their strategies right. Sadly it's Advantage PDP

BusinessNotore’s Effort To Boost Nigeria’s Power Supply On Course by moyems(op): 8:45am On Sep 27, 2013
Notore Power Limited has stated that the company’s efforts and investments towards the achievement of stable power supply in the country is being sustained and the company is ready to take major steps, which would be made public soon.

Notore Power recently signed a Joint Development Agreement (JDA) with ContourGlobal to develop, construct, finance and operate a gas-fired power station with an available capacity of 500 MW in order to boost power supply in the country.

The Chief Executive Officer and Managing of the company, Mr Femi Solebo in a statement, said this partnership will increase national power generation capacity and will directly contribute to the Federal Government of Nigeria’s commitment to improve power supply within the nation.

Solebo during the signing ceremony expressed delight at the official commencement of the project.

“We are very delighted and we are committed to enhancing the quality of lives of Nigerians and electrical power is definitely of serious need in our nation today. We are happy to be partnering with ContourGlobal, a world-acclaimed and trusted organisation and we are confident that this project would be delivered as promised”.

According to the statement, when completed, the power project will produce all the power required to run the Notore fertiliser plant in Onne, Rivers state and the excess will be sent to national grid.

ContourGlobal is an international power generation company with power generating assets of more than 3000 MW in operations or under construction in 15 countries on four continents. The company manages, owns and operates a portfolio of 31 power plants around the world, with a focus on high-growth, under-served markets, while utilizing a wide range of fuel types and technology including renewable energy production based upon wind, solar and biomass. ContourGlobal’s deep experience with projects in Africa will be further demonstrated during the execution of the joint development agreement with Notore Power. Some of its major projects include the acquisition of Arrubal 800 MW CCGT plant in Spain, the acquisition of Maritsa East 3, 908 MW lignite coal plant in Bulgaria, the operation of a 100MW plant in Lome, Togo, the operation of a Quad Genfacility in Nigeria for Coca Cola Hellenic Bottling Company’s Nigerian facility, the Phase 1 of KivuWatt biogas plant in Rwanda, and its recent acquisition of its GTi Dakar, a 52MW combined power plant in Dakar, Senegal.

Incorporated in August 2007, Notore Power was established to optimally manage power resources for its parent company, Notore Chemical Industries Limited, owner and operator of the only urea fertiliser plant in Sub-Saharan Africa. In 2008, Notore Power successfully obtained a generation license for its installed capacity of 50MW.
PoliticsNotore Blames Food Insecurity On Poor Soil Fertility by moyems(op): 6:46pm On Sep 26, 2013
Notore Chemical Industries Limited has blamed the poor soil fertility in Africa for persistent food insecurity in the continent, noting that African farmers are ranked among the lowest users of fertilisers in the world.

In a statement, Notore stressed that Nigerian farmers have a fertlizer utilization rate of 8 kilogrammes per hectare compared to the Food and Agriculture Organization’s recommendation of 200 kilograms per hectare.

“A major reason for the low fertilizer consumption is the scarcity of fertilizers,” Notore said.

“According to the New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD), economic development in Africa must be based on increased and sustainable agricultural production. To realize this vision, African heads of states and governments developed the Comprehensive African Agricultural Development Programme (CAADP). Further to that the CAADP set a target 6 percent annual growth in agricultural production to meet the UN Millennium Development Goal (MDG) of halving poverty and hunger in the continent by 2015,” Notore added.

Notore stressed that in June 2006, African heads of states and other stakeholders met at the African Fertiliser Summit in Abuja, Nigeria to deliberate on ideas that would boost fertilizer consumption on the continent and therefore trigger an African Green Revolution stating that a major outcome of the summit was the resolution by the African Union (AU) member states to increase the rate of fertilizer use and consumption in the continent to an average of 50 kilogram per hectare by 2015.

According to Notore, its fertilizer is made readily available to farmers through the company's well-developed distribution and supply network, thereby ensuring increased output leading to hunger reduction and guaranteeing food security on the continent.

Notore added that it operates the only urea fertilizer plant in Sub-Saharan Africa thus placing it in a strategic position for championing the African Green Revolution and also said the company currently has the capacity to produce 1,500 metric tons (MT) per day of urea and 1, 000 MT/day of ammonia and also produces NPK fertilizer.

“To significantly increase production capacity, plans are underway to build an integrated plant complex with production capacities of 3,000 MT/day of urea, 1,700 MT/day of ammonia, and 1,500 MT/day of other petrochemicals respectively. The Notore plant is strategically located at Onne sea port in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria, therefore its products are well positioned for effective shipment and distribution across the Atlantic coast, and Notore has positioned itself as the major distributor of fertiliser in Africa,” Notore added.

In a response to address the infrastructural and financial challenges currently witnessed by Nigerian subsistent farmers, Notore noted that it has made history by introducing the affordable 1kg and 10kg fertilizer pack options.

“Notore’s leadership in self-empowerment techniques and focus on enhancing food production forms part of its African Green Revolution campaign. Notore’s operations in recent years have impacted positively on agricultural yields while ensuring an improved standard of living for the estimated 14 million farming households in Nigeria, including 70 to 120 percent higher yields of trained farmers, increased grain outputs of 270,000MT, and generating N22.1 billion Gross Domestic Product (GDP),” Notore said.

Notore Chemical Industries Limited (Notore) is one of the leading fertiliser and agro-allied companies in Africa and is committed to helping Nigeria and the African continent become self-reliant in food production and economic wealth. After acquiring the assets of the former National Fertilizer Company of Nigeria (NAFCON) through the federal government’s privatization program, Notore has since grown into an agricultural phenomenon and is one of the world’s lowest-cost fertiliser producers, targeting local markets as well as exports. The company’s principal activities include the supply of premium fertilizers, appropriate education on best practices for farming, and proper deployment of these practices for optimum results. The company has built a robust network of professionals that support farmers and farming communities across Nigeria.
Nairaland GeneralNotore Restates Commitment To Food Security by moyems(op): 5:03pm On Sep 26, 2013
Notore Chemical Industries Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to helping Nigeria and the African countries achieve food security and also become self-reliant in food production.

The company explained in a statement that this move by the company is in line with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture’s Agriculture Transformation Agenda (ATA).

Notore said the role of agriculture in economic growth cannot be over emphasized adding that initiatives to drive the agricultural sector should be top priority of the federal government.

Notore stated that most countries have used the agricultural sector to achieve economic growth maintaining that the time for this sector is now if Nigeria wants to achieve any meaningful growth.

‘Ibori Does not Own any Shares in Notore’

Notore Chemical Industries Limited yesterday stated that the jailed former governor of Delta State, Mr James Ibori, does not and has never owned or controlled shares in the company.

A statement released yesterday by the fertilizer company stressed that it had worked extremely hard to become a major player in the global fertilizer market, relying on strict ethical principles.

According to Notore, “the ongoing confiscation proceedings are solely between the United Kingdom (UK) court and Mr. James Ibori.”

The fertilizer giant based in Onne, River State added that “Notore is not a party to the UK court proceedings because English law does not allow Notore to defend itself in them.”

The firm stressed that Mr James Ibori does not have 'hidden assets' in Notore. He has never owned nor controlled shares in the company, and, so far as the company is aware, no other shareholder or shareholders hold shares for him in trust.
“Notore remains proud of the central role it is playing in the revolution of African agriculture and Africa’s economic empowerment and is committed to the Federal Government’s Agricultural Transformation Agenda and to the objective of making the country self-reliant in food production .”

Car TalkRe: Getting A Driver's Licence In Nigeria by moyems(m): 1:53pm On Mar 14, 2013
Hello tweeps. I was @ d FRSC/VIO offices @ Ojodu berger area to process my vehicles papers andd renew my license. Now I have this license which I did less than 2yrs ago and thought am okay where license is concern. When I got to the office to find out how I can renew my vehicle papers/road worthliness/insurance etc I was asked for my license just to confirm if its real or fake and behold they said it was fake and explained to me why. This is what I was made to understand. Doing a license by proxy means u have done a fake license. Proxy means u submitted passports/cash to any individual @ any office as the case may be. The right thing to do is visit a FRSC office, they will check thhe validity and authenticity of ur current license which is the first step. Then if its in their database it means its real but if not it means u did it by proxy and its fake. But for mine, my valid license is fake so I had to present my older license which I knew I did @ a FRSC office in Benin some years ago. This when checked on their system brought my complete data and finally they were able to start off a process for me. They downloaded a form for me which I filled and submited before they could input the data and others in their system. I took copies of these to the bank to pay #6,350 and brought the teller and the documents back to road safety. They directed me to where I and others did an eye test plus an examination which had 20 questions to answer in 5mins. After we finished, an officer took us to another office where they gave us the results of our performances and our documents to go register them @ another office. After doing the registeration, we were told to go to the last office to book a date for capturing and biometrics. My date is 27th Oct 2013. So you see my dear, getting a driver's license in 9ja is now a big deal. The process na die!!! It takes the whole day. Although I was a bit lucky because I paid 500 bucks to an office to hasten a part of the process. You can pay the fee for the license @ Eko bank, UBA and one other bank I can't remember. Here is the fine for defaulters as I was made to understand: driving with a fake license attracts a fine of 20k. Driving with an expired license/papers attracts 20k plus you will have to do the license or papers all over again b4 you car can be released. My candid advice is for everyone to do the new license @ FRSC to advoid these fines.

Thank you all
