I have said many times that most people don’t realize how badly those who have ruled in Lagos over the past 23 years don’t care about Lagosians. That’s backed up with facts in this article

Career / Getting On The Cyber Security Career Ladder by moyoct14(m): 7:17am On Feb 28, 2018
Coming to Nigeria…cyber security for aspiring practitioners
Join the cyber army by taking your first step onto the cyber security career ladder

Digital Information Security Solutions (DIGISS), a cyber security training and consulting firm headquartered in San Antonio, Texas (and registered in Nigeria) is introducing its flagship training course, cyber security for aspiring practitioners (CSAP), to the Nigerian market.

CSAP 301 is primarily targeted at current IT professionals or enthusiasts seeking to make a career switch to cyber security. Given that these individuals already have the required IT skills and experience, their transition to the field of cyber security should be seamless. Additionally, fresh graduates and senior university students seeking relevant skills and hands-on experience that differentiate them from other graduates and students will benefit immensely from the course. Nigeria, with its 142 universities and over 110 polytechnics, produces an average of 2 million graduates every year. In order for most of these graduates to be market ready, they will need to complement their “book knowledge” with very important IT and cyber security skills.

Digiss was born out of the need to address organizational cyber security challenges and chief among those challenges is the task of finding the right cyber security professionals to fill the rapidly widening talent gap in the field.

Nigeria, being Africa’s largest economy and the 21st in the world, cannot afford to pay little attention to cyber threats in this age where businesses are driven by information systems. In May 2017, the Nigerian senate stated that the country lost $450 million to about 3,500 cyber attacks on its information and communication technology space. “The cyber threat problem is real even in a developing country like Nigeria. The good news though, is that, cyber adversaries can be defeated through adherence to best practices and fundamental security principles”, said Mobolaji Moyosore, Founder and President at Digiss LLC. “Nigeria has an unbelievable wealth of energetic and talented young men and women whose positive energy can be favourably harnessed to secure, among others, its rapidly growing e-commerce business, financial services, information technology and telecommunications sectors.

Some of the biggest technology companies in the world have discovered and tapped into the Nigerian promise. Facebook and Google are 2 global fortune 500 companies whose CEOs have both been to Nigeria in the last 2 years for similar reasons. Although cyber regulations in the country are not as strong as they should be (yet), it remains very important to view cyber security as a key business enabler and major pull factor for foreign investors. This is why it's extremely important to focus on building an army of enterprise defenders who will afterwards be very capable of making the task of cyber adversaries much harder.

Having enough well trained, competent and highly skilled cyber security practitioners is fast becoming a critical success factor for the modern day economy. Some of the world's most dominant economies have realized this and are continually doing everything possible to address the talent gap. For instance, the UK government, as part of its National Cyber Security Strategy, has designed the Cyber Skills Immediate Impact Fund (CSIIF) to quickly address the cyber skills shortage in the UK while the United States will be spending $80 billion on IT and Cybersecurity in 2018 alone. This amount is three times the size of Nigeria's budget for the same year. The modern day economy is supported by information systems therefore the security of those systems cannot be optional. To this end, availability of skilled cyber security professionals and enforcement of cyber regulations are two crucial factors that the leadership of any developing economy needs to take seriously.

Knowing what makes a competent cyber security practitioner, members of the DIGISS team are committed to developing and mentoring business-focused and market ready professionals. Our wealth of cyber security knowledge - acquired through formal and informal training, peer networking, independent research, participations at industry conferences, and years of experience protecting digital assets of organizations in different verticals - positions us as one of the leading developers of cyber security talents.

As aspiring practitioners seek to gain the right knowledge and skills in this field, they will come across several training courses with a lot of content but minimal context. This program provides a fair balance between content and context. The instructors at DIGISS are highly experienced professionals with several highly sought after certifications. Despite focusing only on knowledge and skills required to satisfactorily defend and support organizational digital assets, this course compares favorably with other popular cyber security training and certification programs like Security+, CISSP, and SANS GSEC.

Students who successfully complete the entire course and examination will become DIGISS Certified Cyber Security Associates (DCCSA).
DCCSA exam is currently undergoing accreditation under American National Standards Institutes' (ANSI) personnel credentialing program. ANSI is the accrediting body for ISC2 (CISSP), Comptia (Security+), GIAC (GSEC), Cisco (CCNA, CCNP) etc.
This course will move anyone with the desire to become a cyber security professional closer to their goal by giving them a good insight into what the role of an enterprise defender entails. This is done through illustrations and practical demonstrations of daily activities of a typical cyber security professional in an enterprise environment.
Rather than teach students to memorize concepts and pass any certification exam, this course teaches students to grasp concepts and retain knowledge through threaded discussions, activity-based learning, and practical hands-on sessions.
If you’ve always wanted to get into cyber security but didn’t know where to start, here is your recommended starting point.

Romance / Re: I Impregnated Our Maid Because My Banker Wife Was Never Around. by moyoct14(m): 11:47am On Jun 24, 2012
Am I the only one who thinks a newly married couple do not need a house maid?
What exactly do they need one for? You don't just get one because you can afford it! You get one because you *really* need one!

Now back to the mess: If she can afford to forgive him, I'll advise she hangs in there; otherwise it's not worth it.
The husband is a Arrow! I mean, a house maid? How lowly can some men stoop, huh? To make matters worse, he was doing a skin-to-skin with a house help! He probly kissed her & licked her 'kinni' as well. I mean, c'mmon!.
I'm not sure this man is worth forgiving....

"If you can take a week off work, go and spend time with a relative. If you can, leave the baby behind. That will give him a taste of what you do and will give him an opportunity to bond with his child."

Hmm. You'd get different types of advice on NL,but be careful which one you take to. I for one cannot imagine my wife going away for a week leaving the child with me. Don't get me wrong, I bond with my kids pretty well, changing nappies, babysitting etc, but what these italicized words mean is like "that's ur problem now, you deal with it".

Back to the main I think, like most women, all you demand is attention, but unfortunately, most men are not really good at giving it. Having said that, this isn't something that cannot be dealt with. Actually, I think you're craving for it too much hence u r bound to be disappointed a lot! Telling a man to buy this gift or that gift is usually counter-productive in my opinion. Why not surprise him with gifts yourself and watch whether he'd return d favour or not? For a man to decide to get into marriage with a lady says a lot. Except if you say to me that, one of the reasons he married you is "papers" (u know what I mean?) or because of financial security, I can genuinely assure you that the guy really loves you. Maybe you're the one causing issues in the marriage by asking fir too much and not willing to let go of some things,

@OP -  You could actually do better by prefixing the word 'men' with 'some'
Why generalise?
Most sensible men don't actually need to blow their trumpets, their achievements speak for themselves!
I'm not having a dig at the ladies, but most men know that most ladies love to live in fantasy islands hence the self glorification (by such men).
Education / How Many Universities Are There In Nigeria? by moyoct14(m): 11:53am On Jun 25, 2006
Can anyone please tell me precisely, the number of Universities (Federal, State and Private) in Nigeria?

Apparently, I was wrong in my MSc Thesis where I stated that we have 48. I later stumbled on a document quoting Fabian Osuji (Fmr Edu. minister): "Nigeria’s 54 existing universities have the capacity to enroll 200,000 students — less than 15 percent of the 1.5 million applications the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board received last year" (Source: This Day, January 27, 2004).

Thank God it's not easy to get the precise figure via the Internet (My accessors cannot find out!), I would've been shaking!!! Are you thinking of www.nuc.edu.ng? Come of that thought! I got ma 48 from there - It's a big shame though.

Please find me the accurate figure if you can.

Many thanks (in advance).

PS: Please correct me if I was wrong about Osuji. Is he former or present? You can't blame me (since we seemingly have a 4 ministers/term policy), can you?

Sports / Re: Halleluyah: Mikel Obi Joins Chelsea! by moyoct14(m): 11:07pm On Jun 21, 2006
I think Mikel will manage to fit into Jose's Carling and FA Cup programs. Ballack! Lampard! Makelele! Essien! Duff! Robben! Even Gudjonson's having 2 leave. SWP is set to sit out for d 2nd successive season after losing his place in d england squad to Aaron Lennon. Where and when does JMO plays? The poor boy should have gone to United in d same way that SWP should have come to Arsenal. Anyway, let's wait 4d next couple of months and see.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Why Is Thierry Henry Mediocre In Major Tournaments? by moyoct14(m): 10:43pm On Jun 21, 2006
You can call a top-class striker a mediocre if he's averaging one goal in 2games for his country can't you?
And to Davidylan, Rijkaard surely knew Henry's worth when he offered Arsenal £50m!
Does that make any sense at all? Ask Eto'o, and he'll tell you that he's no better striker than Igwe!
People can be extremely funny, how can one possibly compare Torres to Henry? How many goals did he score for Athletico last season? What's is average per game for his country? And how often does he bring others into play? Watch games, check records and judge reasonably b4 coming here.
Business / Re: Starting Mcdonalds In Nigeria by moyoct14(m): 6:28pm On Jun 21, 2006
McDonalds in Nigeria will be similar to Sweet Sensation in Guildford (Surrey, UK), where there are no many blacks. Nigerians dont do chicken and chips 2much as yu probably know, and I don't think they'll wanna develop interest in it overnight. Nonetheless, I'd have been advising you give it a shot, but playing lottery with a sum as huge as $0.5million could be a dangerous exercise. Whatever you decide in the end, Good luck!
Education / Re: National Open University of Nigeria by moyoct14(m): 2:47pm On Jun 21, 2006
While I share the views of most contributors on the NOUN project, I would like to advise gentlemen like osaitechm to "never say never again". Things can only work if they're done the right way and the advice of the experts sought. A project like this cannot be jumpstarted, proper studies need to be carried out and implementation policies and procedures followed.
Open Universities have worked well in other parts of the world; why can't it work in Nigeria if the planners and decision makers are a bunch of scholars who have the genuine interests of Nigeria at heart?
